Totem poles illustrate family lineage, important people, cultural beliefs and notable events. Contrary to what the show states, and the common expression "low man on the totem pole," the event or person at the bottom is actually often considered the most important event or prestigious person.
Calvados is the basis of the tradition of le trou Normand, or "the Norman hole". This is a small drink of calvados taken between courses in a very long meal, sometimes with apple or pear sorbet, supposedly to reawaken the appetite.
