  • James Rolfe : Monster Madness is back, the website's back, we're very excited and hope you enjoy it this whole month but there's a bit of a rocky start. The first episode had a problem with the script. One of our writers had somehow added a portion that was taken from a pre-existing article. That's unacceptable and all of us here apologize for letting that sneak in. We're very sorry and want to tell you how that happened. The short story is somebody fucked up, somebody knew but I think you deserve a little bit of a longer story too so if you want to stick around for a bit here you go.

  • James Rolfe : So, my apologies even though I'm not the one who did it; it was me who trusted that person and it seems like it might have been just a misunderstanding and there was no bad intention from that person, so thank you, stick with us and come with us on this journey with Monster Madness. Let's go around the world, let's do this.

  • James Rolfe : Justin has also apologized from a producer's standpoint, so all of us feel bad for letting this slip by under our radar and unfortunately this happened to be the first one we released and maybe that's a blessing because you helped us catch that. Even though, uh, we wish we caught it beforehand, now that we know it's helpful so thank you for that, uh, we're now investigating the who what when why and analyzing the rest of the scripts coming up just to make sure that there aren't any other fuck ups because in 14 years of Monster Madness this has never happened and we don't let that shit slide, we can't even stand by that first video and that's why it's being rewritten and re-edited.

  • James Rolfe : As you know, doing Monster Madness as a 31 day marathon was extremely time consuming and brutal to pull off, especially on top of constant AVGN; so that's why I haven't done it in so many years but I missed it as much as you did so in order to bring it back I had to get a lot of help to write the scripts from many different people. That still means I watched all the movies and wrote stuff myself, these were collaborative scripts. Some of the scripts I wrote completely, some were half and half, others I would just write a small portion and then hand the rest off to somebody else to fill it out. My instruction would be "hey do some research, talk about some behind the scenes stuff, look up some trivia" but somebody copy pasted some stuff and just put it in the script, so I thought that person wrote it themself, so I recorded the scripts unknowingly and that's how it happened. But we all know what that is it's plagiarism and I think we've all learned at a young age, plagiarism is bad. In high school, if you turn in a paper and there's plagiarism, you fail. I know that, everybody else at Screenwave knows that, including the guys you see on the podcast with me like Justin and Kieran, they're all good, uh, they aren't the ones who did it, just so you know.
