From Magnificent Films and Silent D Pictures, director Sean Cronin’s vampire movie Bogieville is headed to the Cannes market, and Bloody Disgusting has been exclusively provided with the bloody teaser trailer this afternoon. Sink your fangs into this first look trailer below.
Deadline first reported on Bogieville earlier this week, describing the upcoming film as a “southern fried vampire thriller.” And the vamps in this one look pretty gnarly, with their shark-like teeth reminding us a bit of the bloodsuckers in Radio Silence’s new movie Abigail.
In the film, “A young couple on the run come across the eponymous derelict American trailer park, where they soon learn that the residents are a pack of blood-thirsty vampires.”
Arifin Putra (The Raid 2) and Eloise Lovell Anderson (Villain) star alongside Cronin.
Henry P. Gravelle wrote the screenplay.
Stay tuned for more and find exclusive images and poster art underneath the trailer.

The Raid director Gareth Evans’ latest film, Havoc, finished shooting in 2021 – three years on, it’ll stream on Netflix in late 2024, a report says.
An ominous silence has hung over Havoc, the latest film from The Raid director Gareth Evans, which led to some speculation that Netflix might have quietly scrapped it. Filming on the thriller wrapped in 2021, and little has been heard from the production since – Havoc was also conspicuously missing from Netflix’s roster of films scheduled for release in 2024, which emerged in February.
Netflix has form when it comes to abandoning films in post-production – see the sorry tale of The Mothership, the Halle Berry sci-fi adventure we’ll never see – hence why there have been some concerns over Havoc's ongoing safety.
A new report, however, suggests that Havoc is still alive and well, with its debut on Netflix set for later this year. According to World of Reel's source,...

It’s crazy for me to realize this, but this year marks my fifteenth time covering the Sundance Film Festival for JoBlo. Granted, two were virtual due to the pandemic, but I’ve made my way to lovely Park City, Utah, thirteen times over the years to catch all the most interesting indie flicks coming soon to theatres (or- nowadays – streaming). In my time at Sundance, I was lucky to see classics like Call Me By Your Name, Whiplash (at a genuinely unforgettable press screening), The Raid 2, and so many more.
While – to me anyway – the festival’s output has been a little lower key in recent years, every year I know I’ll see at least a ten or so titles that will resonate with our audience. Last year’s midnight entry, Talk to Me, made over $90 million worldwide, so even in a quiet year, there’s a chance a blockbuster will emerge.

XYZ Films knows a good thing when they see it, and that’s why the studio preemptively purchased the U.S. rights to Skyline: Warpath, a sequel in the Skyline universe starring Iko Uwais and Scott Adkins. Liam O’Donnell (Beyond Skyline) directs the threequel from his own script, with filming taking place in Indonesia. You can check out Uwais and Adkins in the first-look images from Skyline: Warpath above and below.
Joining Uwais and Adkins and cast members are Louis Mandylor, Randall J. Bacon, and Yayan Ruhain.
According to XYZ, the story for Skyline: Warpath picks up five years after Beyond Skyline. The plot “follows Sua (Uwais) as he leads The Resistance against the aliens. When he discovers the powerful alien Radial Gauntlet, he must deal with both the corrupt Eric (Adkins) and the army of alien invaders.”

A New Year means lots of removals from Netflix and January 1st is looking busy, with over 100 movies set to leave the service already. Below, we’ll be keeping track of all the Netflix departures for the first month of 2024.
First, a few housekeeping notes as to how Netflix removals work before we dive in. Due to licensing agreements, shows and movies added to Netflix aren’t added forever. Instead, they’re essentially rented for a fixed period. All the shows below have their current window on Netflix ending and will likely be bound for a rival streaming service.
We list titles slightly differently from other outlets, with our listings being the actual day of removal. If you want to watch any titles scheduled to expire on January 1st, for example, you’ll need to watch by the end of December 31st.

This week's Empire Podcast is up later than usual, for which we apologise most sincerely, but we're hopeful that it will be worth the wait. But that's not all — the brilliant Gareth Evans, director of :a[The Raid]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/movies/reviews/raid-review/' } and :a[The Raid 2]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/movies/reviews/raid-2-review/' }, travelled with the team as both our very special guest and an honorary Colleague Of Such Lethal Cunning, sitting in with us for the entire show. Which means you'll hear Gareth in the Movie News section,...

The film absolutely Rules!! All aboard the next evolution in action cinema. I can do my best to describe the exhilaration of watching this film in the biggest auditorium at the 2023 Sitges Film Festival, but no words can truly express these emotions properly. It's a must-see-for-yourself and be totally blown away cinematic experience. Any and every action lover should be lining up for its opening already. 12 years ago, The Raid changed action movies forever premiering at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival (here's my original review from back then). After the totally killer The Raid 2 and many other rip-offs and imitations, we now have a movie that takes that trapped-in-one-place concept and pushes it further again. Just as I said in my 2011 review, "holy shit I haven't seen an action movie this good in years!" I'll repeat that again for Kill, an Indian action movie from filmmaker Nikhil Bhat. This film completely blew me away,...

For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. Back in 1987, Capcom introduced the world to "Street Fighter," permanently changing the landscape of fighting games and birthing an extremely popular (and profitable) multi-media franchise. In the last 35 years, "Street Fighter" has spawned almost 150 different games, spin-offs, TV shows, movies, and appearances in other games. That number is about to get even bigger because, as The Hollywood Reporter notes, Legendary Pictures — the folks who also put out "Godzilla vs. Kong," "Detective Pikachu," and "Dune" — have acquired the film and TV rights to "Street Fighter."
This is phenomenal news for fans of the classic fighting game, because Hollywood has a pretty disappointing track record with adapting "Street Fighter" for the big screen. Back in 1994, Universal released "Street Fighter: The Movie" featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile, Ming-Na Wen as Chun-Li,...

In "John Wick: Chapter 2," there is a scene where Keanu Reeves' titular assassin meets with a man simply known as the Sommelier, played by Peter Serafinowicz. His speciality is not wine, though. It's guns. And the Sommelier goes onto present Wick with a smorgasbord of firearms as if he was recommending them for a multi-course meal of violence. When I saw the film back in February 2017, each presentation of a new gun accompanied by lines referring to them as "robust" or "dessert" generated a delighted guffaw from the audience. Meanwhile, I was squirming in my seat.
I hate guns. Living in the United States, a day doesn't pass where some horrific tragedy occurs involving a gun. To me, they are instruments of chaos and destruction, and the way so many people in this country fetishize and obsess over their weapons disturbs me deeply. I grew up with a fairly conservative father,...

I grew up with a fairly conservative father,...

Long enough that a teaser trailer, the one in the embed above, was even ready to be released back in early December. But according to Deadline, the movie is still filming – and they’ve just revealed that Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire) and Randy Couture (The Manson Brothers Midnight Zombie Massacre) are in the cast!
Directed by Ali Zamani, who also crafted the story that Chris Kato fleshed out into a screenplay, Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace will show us what happens when the hero Gabriel rounds up his motley crew of demon slayers, styled as the ‘Warriors of Peace’, to fight an apocalypse-bound army of the dead.

Action movies don’t get much more intense when it comes to large-scale set pieces than John Wick: Chapter 4. However, the Keanu Reeves-led franchise is sure to leave fans craving more violent genre flicks with jaw-dropping fight choreography. There are some filmmakers that just effortlessly ooze cool, and Jason Eisener is absolutely one of those people. The Canadian creative first came to mainstream public consciousness after winning the "Grindhouse" fake trailer contest hosted by Robert Rodriguez and SXSW Festival, and his winning short, "Hobo with a Shotgun," led to a feature film of the same name starring Rutger Hauer. In the years that followed, Eisener has been involved in a slew of ridiculously rad projects, like the killer Christmas tree slasher, "Treevenge," serving as a producer on the well-loved "Turbo Kid," co-creating the Vice series "Dark Side of the Ring," and directing a segment of "V/H/S/2" that evolved into the genre-bending feature film, "Kids vs. Aliens."
If you want a film to have striking visuals, snappy dialogue, and a bleeding, beating heart of genre influences, you call Jason Eisener. This is why it makes complete sense that Eisner...

A few months ago, we heard that Denise Richards (Valentine) had signed on to star in Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace, a sequel to the 2020 action horror film called Angels Fallen. Angels Fallen was distributed by Uncork’d Entertainment, and that company will be releasing the sequel sometime in 2023. With the new year quickly approaching, a teaser trailer for Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace has been unveiled and can be seen in the embed above.
Richards was in the news last month because she was shot at in a road rage incident. Thankfully, she made it through that situation unharmed.
Directed by Ali Zamani, Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace will show us what happens when the hero Gabriel rounds up his motley crew of demon slayers, styled as the ‘Warriors of Peace’, to fight an apocalypse-bound army of the dead.
Richards will be playing “a tough weapons expert charged with arming Gabriel’s crew.

Uncork’d Entertainment has acquired the horror feature “Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace,” featuring Denise Richards and set for release in summer 2023. Richards plays a tough weapons expert who clearly knows how to give demons the what-for, and you can see for yourself in the first teaser, exclusively via TheWrap.
And if that’s not enough, scroll down to see first look images.
Also featuring Arifin Putra (“The Raid 2”) and starring Josh Burdett, “Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace” sees a group of demon hunters led by Gabriel — an Afghan war vet struggling with some personal demons of his own — on a mission to defeat a terrifying army of the undead. Outfitted, of course, with some fairly awesome weapons by Richards’ character.
Given that the trailer confirms that, per the title, the Angels have already fallen, things look bad for our heroes. Luckily for them, and us, things look likely to get pretty gross,...

As recently reported, Marvel Studios has tweaked a good-sized chunk of its upcoming release schedule, shifting the release dates of five confirmed movies and taking one unannounced one off the calendar for now. The films that are moving include some biggies like Fantastic Four and Avengers: Secret Wars, but the whole thing – because any MCU moves tend to have a domino effect – seemed to start with the studio’s reboot of Blade being shot out of its November 2023 berth all the way to September 2024.
That was precipitated by the departure of director Bassim Tariq from the project, less than two months before production was scheduled to start, along with reports that the film’s screenplay needed quite a bit of work. Clearly Blade – which was first announced way back in July 2019 when star Mahershala Ali walked onstage wearing a hat bearing the movie’s title – is in a bit of a rough spot right now.

Surely many will remember “Hard Boiled” as John Woo’s last film made in his native country (Hong Kong), as well as some sort of letter of introduction to Hollywood. But today, that perspective has already changed, since in 2008 John Woo returned to his homeland to shoot “Red Cliff” and there he has stayed all these past years. Little can be said about “Hard Boiled” that hasn’t already been said, and this is something more than obvious: “Hard Boiled” puts most recent action movies to shame. Very few reach this level of spectacularity (The Raid 2 from 2014 for example), and this is not something coming from this particular movie, but from almost all of John Woo’s action films. See “A Better Tomorrow” (1986), The Killer (1989) or “Bullet in the Head” (1990) for example. John Woo has a unique vision and a unique mastery, and that’s something that is patent...

With its list of new releases for July 2022, HBO Max is stepping up its TV game. Not that any entity associated with “It’s Not TV, It’s HBO” would ever not bring the televised goods, but the small screen is of particular consequence this month.
The middle of July is jam-packed with TV goodies like docuseries The Anarchists (July 10), rescued animated project Tuca & Bertie season 3 (July 11), and the latest Nathan Fielder creation The Rehearsal (July 15). The real heavy hitter arrives later on though. Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin premieres on July 28 and will introduce the next generation of the Pll franchise. It doesn’t have a release date yet but July will also host season 3 of the delightful Harley Quinn at some point.
HBO Max’s movie offerings aren’t as deep this month. The Bob’s Burgers Movie (July 12) and We Met In Virtual Reality (July 27) are really the only originals of note.

Denise Richards will team with “The Raid 2” star Arifin Putra for “Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace.” The film, which shoots in Los Angeles in August, is a sequel to 2020 action horror film “Angels Fallen.”
Ali Zamani, who directed the first film, and previously directed family comedy “C.I. Ape” and horror thriller “Incision,” will continue the franchise, typified by its metaphysical mania and muscle power. With Nicola Posener and Houston Rines in the lead roles, the first film also employed the services of veterans Michael Madsen, Eric Roberts and Nicholas Turturro.
In the sequel, the hero, Gabriel, rounds up his motley crew of demon slayers, styled as the ‘Warriors of Peace’ to fight an apocalypse-bound army of the dead. Richards’ character is a tough weapons expert charged with arming Gabriel’s crew. Michael Teh, Joshua Burdett, Lee Kholafai, Korrina Rico, Silvio Samic and Greg Canestrari round out the international principal cast.

March 2022 is a great month for blonde women with cold, dead stares on Hulu.
With its list of new releases for March 2022, Hulu is highlighting two major original series ripped straight from the headlines. The first is The Dropout, which premieres on March 3. This show stars Amanda Seyfried (taking over from the previously cast Kate McKinnon) as Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes. This story about high-level corporate fraud is truly wild, enough so to accommodate several books, podcasts, and even an upcoming film starring Jennifer Lawrence. Hulu is certainly hoping its version is the definitive one.

Exclusive: Three of the biggest action directors in the game are coming together to help give a new spin on one of the decade’s most acclaimed action pics. Sources tell Deadline that Netflix has come aboard a new reimagining of Gareth Evans’ cult classic The Raid, tapping Patrick Hughes to direct with Michael Bay and XYZ Films on board to produce. Evans will exec produce along with Range Media Partners, which reps all three talents. Hughes will co-write the script with James Beaufort.
The original film was written and directed by Evans and followed an elite Indonesian S.W.A.T. team that becomes trapped in a tenement run by a ruthless mobster and his army of killers and thugs. The film premiered at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival and earned instant praise for its insane action sequences and turned Evans into one of the festival’s biggest stars. After Kellie Madison released the proof of concept short The Gate, the high octane film became a viral sensation with 4 million views and it got her the job directing Never Back Down: Revolt, a low budget action film back by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment that got released recently.
With that film under her belt, Madison is hoping to make the leap to direct the feature version of the short that put her on the map. Briarcliff Entertainment’s Tom Ortenberg is taking the concept out to financiers. The short stars Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s Amy Johnston and The Raid 2’s Cecep Arif in a violent struggle by a young woman to save her suicidal sister, whose soul is about to be captured by an unsavory Indonesian crime boss. It leads to a larger adventure to find a pathway to ultimate power, called The Gate.

The social media embargo for the “GI-Joe” movie spinoff “Snake Eyes” has lifted, and it looks like the movie has, uh, rolled itself as the early reactions are overwhelmingly negative.
Fans who saw recent early screenings generally had praise for co-star Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow, but that’s generally it. The rest, with a few exceptions, was pretty thoroughly dismissed.
Feedback for the movie, which focuses on the fan-favorite masked commando’s origins (played by Henry Golding), ranged from constructive criticism to outright reading for filth. Some fans complained about its pacing, others about the story and script, and quite a few about the aesthetic choices of director Robert Schwentke.
Some examples:
“I was pretty letdown. Generic story and bad script plague this reboot…” said YouTuber Nichols Whitcomb.
“Ultimately is all hiss and no strike. There are some truly breathtaking action sequences but they get muddled down by the...

Stunt teams are some of the hardest working people in the industry. They literally put their lives on the line just to entertain us and yet there’s so little acknowledgement of their contributions. There is no Oscar for stunt work, but there should be. Netflix’s adaptation of Jupiter’s Legacy has secured one of the industry’s hottest stunt choreographers, one who is no stranger to superhero action, Philip J. Silvera.
If you’ve read Jupiter’s Legacy already, you know Frank Quitely’s artwork leaps off the page, splattered with intense moments of sanguineous bloodshed. Quitely’s graphic style is a perfect fit for Silvera, who says he’s always been inspired by the visceral violence of films like Goodfellas and The Godfather Part II.
“My action in the past has always had a bit of a lead pipe brutality to it,” confesses Silvera with a grin.

The Raid 2, 1am, Film4, Friday April 9
Once the action starts in Gareth Evans' fast-moving sequel to his 2012 hit, it doesn't let up. Picking up where the first film left off, hero Rama is forced undercover to investigate police corruption. The plotremains squarely in its place as a handy hook for another succession ofvisceral set-pieces and face-offs. From muddy prison quads to the confined spacesof a loo, the inventiveness and the punching, kicking and general mayhem keeps oncoming. Evans has recently signed a deal with Netflix and his criminal thriller Havoc starring Tom Hardy is coming soon. Read the fullreview

Some of David Lynch's wilder flights of fantasy, such as Inland Empire, may have proved tough going for some audiences, but this early feature from his back catalogue, made between cult classics Eraserhead and Blue Velvet offers plenty of mainstream appeal.

Once per episode, Gangs of London will grab you by the scruff of the neck, hurl you against a wall, and remind you with repeated blunt force that the show comes from Gareth Evans, one of the great action directors alive. (If you haven’t seen them yet, put The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2 in your queue now.) Evans created the series with Matt Flannery, and co-writes and directs several of the early episodes. Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Forest Whitaker is set to co-star with Tom Hardy in the Netflix action film “Havoc” from Gareth Evans, the director of the critically acclaimed martial arts film “The Raid.”

Fresh off this past weekend’s release of Boss Level, and with his next film Copshop already in post-production, writer/director Joe Carnahan now hopes to turn his attention to his next project: a long-developing remake of the 2011 Indonesian action/crime thriller, The Raid (known in the U.S. as The Raid: Redemption).
Or maybe not. Asked about the project, which was first announced with a different director in 2014 before Carnahan came aboard three years later, Carnahan says that the English-language version of the stunning original has drifted away from being a true remake.
“It’s our version of The Raid,” says Carnahan about the film, which will be produced for Screen Gems through his and actor Frank Grillo’s Warparty production banner. “I wrote that in a very modular way, so we had a disagreement with the existing property holders. We could kind of segue out, and we’d...

Drafthouse Films is stepping back into the world of distribution after a five-year hiatus with the North American co-release of India’s Oscar entry, “Jallikattu.”
The company — which is the film distribution arm of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema — is partnering with XYZ Films, which picked up the phantasmagorical “Jallikattu” for North America back in December. The title, which is Drafthouse Films’ first new acquisition since 2016, marks a new directive by the distributor to support emerging filmmakers.
“[‘Jallikattu’] blew us away because it felt like it was beamed in from another dimension and left a permanent imprint on our brain,” said Drafthouse Films in a statement shared with Variety.
XYZ and Drafthouse are planning a spring release that will include theatrical support, as well as all digital platforms along with a Blu-Ray edition of the film. Drafthouse parent company Alamo Drafthouse launched curated VOD platform Alamo on Demand in May.
