Does Camila DiCaprio have a nice ring to it? As their Pda at Coachella attests, model Camila Morrone and Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio seem smitten with each other. Photos from Rihanna's FentyxPuma party at the Californian music fest show Camila with her arm around Leonardo's neck, for example. But who is this 20-year-old, anyway, and what is it with Leo dating much younger women? Hailing from Argentina, Camila is already making a splash in the modeling world. The 5-foot-9 beauty has posed for Sephora and Topshop ad campaigns, as well as Act 1 and Jalouse magazines. And she made the cover of Vogue Turkey in September 2016. A post shared by Camila Morrone (@camimorrone) on Apr 15, 2018 at 12:11pm Pdt More recently, Camila has been breaking into film. Just this year, for example, she starred in the indie drama Never Goin' Back and the thriller Death Wish — playing Bruce Willis'...

When including documentaries and eccentric shorts, James Franco’s directing slate has been a fairly busy state of affairs since 2010, when the prolific writer-actor-director was busy helming the likes of Masculinity & Me and My Own Private River.
Fast forward some six years and change and Franco has been gobbling up directing gigs as if they’re going out of fashion, and The Hollywood Reporter now brings word of another. It’s called The Pretenders, an 80s-set romantic drama that takes place in New York City. Boasting a script from The Fault in Our Stars helmer Josh Boone, Franco’s new creative venture has already cast three rising stars to headline the period pic: Jack Kilmer, Shameik Moore and Don’t Breathe actress Jane Levy.
With Brian Cox and Juno Temple also on board, THR reveals that The Pretenders is set to tell the tale of a decade-spanning love triangle between...

James Franco is currently working on a few upcoming films that he will star in and direct, including “Zeroville,” based on Steve Erickson’s 2007 book by the same name, and “The Masterpiece” about the making of Tommy Wiseau’s “The Room.” Though busy with many projects, Franco also directed a black-and-white short film entitled “Do It Right” starring fashion model Gigi Hadid. The film promotes a collaboration between Hadid and fashion designer Stuart Weitzman on new footwear “The Gigi Boot,” which is featured prominently in the video. Watch it below.

In the video, Hadid stars as a boxer who strikes poses as well as she spars against her masked opponents in the ring. All the while, she’s wearing The Gigi Boot while she’s taking down the men who enter into battle with her.

It’s been a couple months since the last edition of What’s Up Doc? placed Michael Moore’s surprise world premiere of Where To Invade Next at the top of this list and in the meantime much shuffling has taken place and much time has been spent on various new endeavors (namely my Buffalo-based film series, Cultivate Cinema Circle). Finally taking its rightful place at the top, D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hagedus’ Unlocking the Cage is in the midst of being scored by composer James Lavino, according to Lavino’s own personal site. Though the project has been taking shape at its own leisurely pace, I’d expect to see the film making its festival debut in early 2016.

Glenn has been attending the 25th Stockholm Film Festival as a member of the Fipresci jury. Today he looks at James Franco's latest creative endeavour, 'The Sound and the Fury'.
James Franco’s latest isn’t a part of the films I was sent to Sweden to judge, but in my apparent need to one day become the pre-eminent expert on the 36-year-old’s career, I decided to find time for The Sound and the Fury. His second Faulkner adaptation after last year’s As I Lay Dying shows that Franco is improving as a director when it comes to the creation of coherent and engaging cinematic worlds, but while somebody like the equally fast-moving Xavier Dolan is able to take his inspirations and weave them throughout his own auteurial style, Franco’s films still feel like he’s merely copying what he has seen elsewhere without...

James Franco is a strange bird, and one who defies categorization. He effortlessly balances the careers of an actor, director, screenwriter, artist, musician, novelist, poet, and teacher simultaneously. Honestly, we don’t know where he finds the time. Does he have a Time-Turner or a flux capacitor? That’s got to be it, right?
Time-travel aside, whatever James Franco’s doing – Is he not sleeping? – it’s working, because he’s about to add another hyphen to his already multi-hyphenate name.
James Franco, stage actor.
Making his Broadway debut, Franco joins the cast of John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men as George Milton. Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) joins Franco as George’s well-meaning best friend Lennie, a role that garnered O’Dowd a Tony Award nomination.
Cineplex is delighted to present National Theatre Live’s premiere of Of Mice and Men this Thursday, November 6. An encore performance will take place next Thursday,...

Given the eclectic nature of James Franco's projects, it was only a matter of time before someone thought to host a festival in Franco's honor, and it looks like the man himself plans to attend. New York's IFC Center will host FrancoFest, a retrospective celebrating the work of James Franco, from March 5-13, with Franco appearing at several screenings. The festival will showcase several of Franco's most notable performances ("127 Hours," "Howl," "Spring Breakers"), as well as a number of his efforts as a director ("As I Lay Dying," "The Broken Tower," "Sal"). Perhaps the most notable inclusion is Franco's Berlin and Sundance hit "Interior. Leather Bar.," which re-imagines the destroyed explicit scenes cut from William Friedkin's controversial thriller "Cruising." Friedkin's film will appear in concurrence with Franco's. Also scheduled to appear is Gus Van Sant's "My Own Private Idaho," which influenced the included films "My Own Private River" and "Idaho,...
