Worth seeing...
Oddly, the title for this should be listed as "An Actor Named Brando" but somehow IMDb got it wrong. This is the DVD title--and the short was made for the bonus disc for "A Streetcar Named Desire" when it was re-released in 2006. It's only an eight minute short and specifically focuses on Brando's acting in "A Streetcar"--and is not a study of his career as an actor or his acting in other films. It consists of folks from "A Streetcar" discussing their feelings about Brando in the film--and you hear from Kim Hunter, Karl Malden and a few experts not in the movie. Malden, in particular, was effusive in his praise for Brando--having made three films with him and was an obvious fan-boy of Brando! Interestingly, Malden felt that Brando was just as good a director as an actor--even though Hollywood soon tired of Brando and his inefficient directing style. Overall, rather interesting but very limited in scope.
Interestingly, although Brando had died two years before this and couldn't be interviewed for the short, Hunter died four years earlier--and I wonder how they got so much footage of her discussing him and the film in all the many shorts included for the full-length film. Perhaps it was in the planning stages for several years....I don't know.
