Befuddlement, of course, is one of Alan’s defining traits and right now he is unable to figure out: A) how he got here in the first place; B) whether he’s already been through this pantomimic ordeal once before; or C) if the studio audience currently snickering away hyena-like in the darkness even exists. More importantly, though, he has no recollection whatsoever of penning another book.

Sometimes the only way to help protect the future is to reexamine the past, no matter how painful it for the person who experienced it the first time. Steve Parker is one half of Cthulhu Crush Productions, a Us based production company that are pushing out some very unique (and some might say controversial) films. Their latest is The Dark Place, a Jody Wheeler-directed thriller that encompasses all the usual thriller elements – though the lead is a gay man. Later down the line, the company has Wtf! Coming out – a traditional ‘Cabin in the Woods’ type thriller. In this interview Parker gives us the lowdown on both films…
Steve, you have so many projects going on. Are these funnelled out through your own production company?
Yes, generally. Cthulhu Crush Productions is the hub for all of the work Jody and I do, separately or together.
Why did you begin producing?
Projects don’t start themselves. And producing was how to create the projects I wanted to work on. My primary love is editing, but I also have a software engineering job.

Over Your Dead Body: Press Release: "A beautiful actress (Kô Shibasaki of 47 Ronin and Battle Royale) plays the protagonist in a new play based on a legendary ghost story. She pulls some strings to get her lover cast in the play, although he's a relatively unknown actor. With the cast in place, rehearsals for the play, about an abusive relationship and a grudge, begin. But off stage, some begin to develop their own obsessions. Trapped between the play and reality, they are horrified to find that a real grudge can cross the blurred line between reality and fantasy. Will love flourish?...

The Dark Place, the eagerly anticipated mystery-thriller from the team behind festival hit Judas Kiss, debuted last weekend to positive reviews.
First seen Friday, June 13th for a special digital premiere audience, the The Dark Place played again Saturday the 14th at the Baltimore Qfest and Sunday the 15th at the Queer Film Festival, Nuremberg. Audiences in multiple cities were excited and entertained by the film.
“It keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire film,” said Andrew Augstyniak, a student at Appalachian State University. “The plot keeps you engaged and you’re trying to figure out the storyline at the same time [the hero] is.”
“I really appreciate the fact that this is a film with gay characters without being gay themed,” commented Roisin Moriarty, of Cork, Ireland. “Their sexuality is a total non-issue which hopefully reflects the way forward both in cinema and real life.”

Shoreline Entertainment, the Los Angeles-based production and sales company, has picked up world sales rights to wine-country mystery-thriller, The Dark Place, from Blue Seraph Productions.
Jody Wheeler (Heat Wave, In the Closet) directed the story, with J.T. Tepnapa (Judas Kiss), from Wheeler’s own screenplay, with Carlos Pedraza producing.
The film focuses on Keegan Dark, a troubled young man cursed with the uncanny ability to remember his life in videographic detail. He returns to his family’s wine estate, boyfriend in tow, to make amends with his estranged mother, only to discover a conspiracy that frames him for murder and threatens his family’s lives and livelihood.
Pictured: After a near-fatal mishap, Keegan Dark (Blaise Embry) is examined by a doctor (Andy Copeland) who may not have Keegan’s best interests at heart.

Queen Elizabeth II has requested television time to sign what is being called a historic pledge of non-discrimination in the Commonwealth. "We are implacably opposed to all forms of discrimination, whether rooted in gender, race, colour, creed, political belief or other grounds." Other grounds is meant to refer to Glbt people, but toned down to defer to members of the Commonwealth that still have draconian gay laws. While it sounds like a cop out to me, diplomatic sources say "The impact of this statement on gay and women’s rights should not be underestimated. Nothing this progressive has ever been approved by the United Nations. And it is most unusual for the Queen to request to sign documents in public, never mind call the cameras in."

Blue Seraph Productions announced that Travis Richey (Pretty Little Liars) will join the cast of The Dark Place, the mystery-thriller written by Jody Wheeler and to be helmed by Judas Kiss director J.T. Tepnapa.
Richey is famous for his brief turn as Inspector Spacetime -a running gag on the critically underrated NBC comedy series Community- that inspired (after NBC and Sony sort of said, “Yeah, no”) him and writing partner Eric Loya to create Untitled Web Series About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time. That web series was a huge success (hailed by USA Today as one of the Best TV on the Web in 2012) and the people that made it are now preparing to begin production on Season Two.
They’re also working on a “prequel” episode that will bridge the gap between season one and two, and you can visit their Kickstarter campaign to learn how you can help.

Director of Judas Kiss, Jt Tepnapa talks about his next two projects with writer Carlos Pedraza, writer Jody Wheeler and Cinematographer David Berry: The Dark Place & Something Like Summer here
Two and a half years ago, Kickstarter backers helped us make our first feature film, Judas Kiss, which went on to win many awards — and now it’s available all over the world! That critically acclaimed film about love, second chances and getting it right was a meaningful story, with relatable characters and top-notch production values.
We quickly raised enough funding to get two new feature films ready to shoot in 2013: The Dark Place and Something Like Summer, two very different stories. One is a mystery-thriller and the other an adaptation of a wonderful love story; both will be presented with all of the care and skill we brought to Judas Kiss.
This time out we want to do even better.

I met Travis Richey last year at Bent-Con, but as a huge fan of the NBC series Community, and their Doctor Who parody called Inspector Spacetime, I was already a follower of his because by then I was following his Youtube page Sivartis. There I began watching his videos and so when December last year arrived, I was excited to meet him. Got his picture, and talked to him briefly.
I got a chance to meet him again several months later when he came to a reading for two scripts my friends were getting ready to produce as films in the coming months, Something Like Summer and The Dark Place, both to be helmed by Judas Kiss director J.T. Tepnapa. Something Like Summer is based on the popular novel by Jay Bell, while The Dark Place is written by DoorQ‘s own Jody Wheeler.
