- A short documentary, an insightful glimpse at a diverse group of people involved in dialogues about race. Stereotypes disappear; people converse on a deep level, become close, and amidst the controversy, sometimes fall into laughter. Includes interviews with some of the participants.—Anonymous
- Living Room Revolution: The Race Dialogues--within our title lies our purpose. In an electronic age, people communicate quickly all over the globe. What is missing is people sitting around in a circle in a living room sharing food, looking each other in the eye and listening intently as other people talk about their pain and their remarkable triumphs. Our race dialogues began in a private home in November of the year 2000. Since then, the group has met four times a year consistently. People often say you can't talk about race but the race dialogues prove that you can: in a cross-cultural group with people from many countries present, with laughter, sometimes with joy and always with compassion.
In the film, the audience watches people actually interacting in several dialogues. They also get to view participants interviewed in pairs or individually as they talk about the effect the dialogues have had on them. For the audience, the excitement and laughter and sometimes joy seen in the statements of the participants can be very inspiring. This is not a conventional film. It is an experiential journey designed to make people think about what race means in our society.
