Jonah Hill will be directing Outcome for Apple, that’s going to star Cameron Diaz and Keanu Reeves. More here.
After a long hiatus from acting, Cameron Diaz has begun dipping her toe back into the world of moviemaking. After starring in 2014’s Annie, Diaz retired to focus on other things before eventually being tempted back almost a decade later to star alongside Jamie Foxx in the yet-to-release (and appropriately-titled) action flick, Back in Action.
That one is due out at sometime this year on Netflix, and while we’re looking forward to seeing her appear on our TVs, Diaz’s next project may well restore the actor to where she truly belongs: the silver screen. Jonah Hill has signed Cameron Diaz up to star alongside Keanu Reeves in Outcome, a dark comedy for Apple Studios.

Sony Pictures Classics has acquired all rights worldwide to Nathan Silver’s Between The Temples starring Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane, following its buzzy world premiere at Sundance and ahead of its upcoming international debut at the Berlinale.
Billed by SPC as a comedy “exploring the complexities of belief, connection, and what it means to be a real mensch”, Between The Temples co-stars Schwartzman as is a forty-something cantor who is losing his voice and possibly his faith following the death of his wife.
As he struggles to meet the expectations of his rabbi, congregation, and not one but two Jewish mothers – played by Dolly de Leon (Triangle Of Sadness) and Caroline Aaron (The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel) – his life is turned upside down when his grade school music teacher (Kane) re-enters his life as an adult bat mitzvah student.
Robert Smigel (Leo), Madeline Weinstein (Beach Rats) and Matthew Shear (Mistress America) round out the cast.

An ex-girlfriend of Jonah Hill has accused the actor of being a “misogynist narcissist” who was “emotionally abusive” during their relationship.
Earlier this weekend, professional surfer Sarah Brady posted on her Instagram story what appeared to be screenshots of texts exchanged between her and Hill, whom she dated in 2021. In one message (via People), Hill allegedly told Brady that if she wanted to “surf with men,” “model,” “post pictures of yourself in a bathing suit,” “post sexual pictures,” and have “friendships with women who are in unstable places,” then he is “not the right partner” for her.
“If your partner is talking to you like this, make an exit plan,” Brady added. “I too struggle with mental health but I do not use it to control [people] like he did to me.” Hill has been open about his experience living with persistent anxiety. Last year, he announced a documentary called Stutz...

It seems like Jonah Hill is going to be a dad! On April 19, Hill and his partner, Olivia Millar, were spotted together in Los Angeles, and Millar was seen with a baby bump, as shown in photos published by the Daily Mail. According to the outlet, Hill and Millar were getting dinner with Hill's parents. Millar - the co-owner of vintage store Chasseresse - has also recently been spotted wearing a large diamond on her left ring finger, sparking engagement speculation. A rep for Hill did not immediately respond to Popsugar's request for comment.
Not much is known about the "You People" actor and Millar's relationship, though they were first spotted out together in photographs obtained by Daily Mail last fall.
In August 2022, Hill announced that he would be taking a break from media appearances to help manage his anxiety attacks. He explained in an open letter through Deadline, "I...

After challenging the High Table in John Wick: Chapter 4, Keanu Reeves will take a left at Albuquerque to join Jonah Hill for a dark comedy film. Apple Original Films acquired the rights to Outcome, a sinister comedy Hill will direct and co-write with Ezra Woods. Reeves is in negotiations to star alongside Hill in the new project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter‘s exclusive, Hill’s Outcome stars Reeves as Reef, “a damaged Hollywood star who must dive into the dark depths of his past to confront his demons and make amends after he is extorted with a mysterious video clip from his past.”
In addition to directing, starring, and co-writing Outcome, Hill will also produce the film with Matt Dines, his partner at Strong Baby. Hill recently starred alongside Eddie Murphy and Lauren London in You People, a side-splitting comedy about modern love and family dynamics encountering a culture clash with lasting repercussions.

In a competitive situation, Apple Original Films has nabbed “Outcome,” the new dark comedy directed by Jonah Hill, which is in talks to star Keanu Reeves and Hill. The movie will be produced by Apple Studios.
Reeves plays Reef, a damaged Hollywood star who goes on a long journey of the soul after he is confronted with a mysterious video clip from his past. The script was written by Hill and Ezra Woods and produced by Hill and Matt Dines under their Strong Baby banner. This will be Hill’s second narrative feature after “Mid90s,” which he made for A24 and Scott Rudin.
Last year, Netflix released Hill’s documentary feature “Stutz,” about the life and work of Dr. Phil Stutz, Hill’s therapist. Hill’s last two on-screen performances were also for Netflix – he appeared in Kenya Barris’ somewhat controversial “You People” earlier this year and in 2021 co-starred in...

Jonah Hill, in the process of building a thriving filmmaking career, and Keanu Reeves, riding high thanks to the ultra-popular John Wick: Chapter 4, are teaming up for a dark Hollywood story.
Apple Original Films has picked up Outcome, a dark comedy that Hill will direct and has co-written with Ezra Woods.
Reeves is in negotiations to topline the feature, which will also star Hill.
Outcome will star Reeves as Reef, a damaged Hollywood star who must dive into the dark depths of his past to confront his demons and make amends after he is extorted with a mysterious video clip from his past.
Hill, clearly no underachiever, will also produce Outcome with Matt Dines, his partner at their Strong Baby banner, along with the company’s Ali Goodwin. The project will be an Apple Studios production.
The deal finds a home for Outcome, which hit the town as a hot package back in November.

Los Angeles, April 1 (Ians) ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ star Jonah Hill seemed unrecognisable as he was spotted surfing after impressive weight loss.
The actor was seen catching waves in California showing off his slimmed down physique as well as a huge beard, reports Mirror.co.uk.
The 21 Jump Street star looked like he was a natural surfer as he stretched out his arms to keep his balance, despite previously saying he was scared of the sport. He has all the right gear as he wore a full wet suit as he enjoyed his day out.
Jonah often teams up with fellow enthusiasts Spike Jonze and Beastie Boys rapper Mike Diamond to form Surf Jews California.
Jonah told GQ last year: “Been terrified to surf my whole life. Totally random fear and at the same time always been a secret dream of mine.”

Jason Segel’s Shrinking doesn’t star Jonah Hill, but the Apple TV+ series loosely connects to the actor. Shrinking stars Segel as Jimmy Laird and follows his grief journey. Along the way, we meet Jimmy’s friends, family, and colleagues, including Harrison Ford’s Phil. Ford’s role in the Apple TV+ series directly correlates to Hill’s real-life therapist Phil Stutz.

When production designer Cabot McMullen first started thinking about designing the therapist’s practice that is the heart of AppleTV+s “Shrinking,” Harrison Ford had not yet been cast.
Phil’s character was based on a real-life therapist, Phil Stutz, the subject of Jonah Hill’s recent documentary “Stutz.” But when it was announced that Ford would play the lead, Phil became Paul.
As for his designs, McMullen worked closely with the actors to develop a design strategy for each office with character-driven representation through artwork, books, color palettes and desktop details. Many of the desktop items were personally chosen or curated by the actors.
Running the gamut of appealing personalities, the ensemble is made up of Ford as Paul, a charming, yet grumpy man. Jason Segel is Jimmy — a man riddled with guilt, grieving the loss of his wife while trying to be a cool dad to his teenage daughter,...

Netflix only recently unveiled a sizzle reel for all the films it will premiere throughout 2023. You People certainly stood out, particularly due to its star-studded cast. But Jonah Hill, who also co-wrote and produced the film, has already announced he won’t promote his movies going forward, including the rom-com. So what do his You People co-stars think of his decision?
‘You People’ stars Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy
In You People, Hill and Lauren London play a new couple whose relationship brings their families into conflict. Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny portray Hill’s parents; Eddie Murphy and Nia Long play London’s parents.
The ensemble cast also includes Molly Gordon, Sam Jay, Travis Bennett, Mike Epps, Deon Cole, and Rhea Perlman. Prior to its Netflix launch on January 27, 2023, You People briefly played in theaters.
Critics have been mixed-to-negative on the film. On Rotten Tomatoes, You People currently has a 43 rating.

Plot: A new couple and their families find themselves examining modern love and family dynamics amidst clashing cultures, societal expectations and generational differences in this comedy from Kenya Barris.
Review: Last year, Kenya Barris wrote Disney’s remake of Cheaper By The Dozen, updating the family dynamic to be a multi-ethnic brood including stepchildren and half-siblings. The comedy didn’t strike quite the same chord as Barris’ successful sitcom black-ish, but it did showcase the changing look of what 21st-century families look like. Now, Barris’ feature directorial debut, You People, takes a more mature look at race and anti-semitism from a humorous vantage. With Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy taking top-billing, You People is a sweetly funny update of Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner? for the next generation, even though it is not a direct remake of that classic film. Full of comedy and genuine romance, You People works well...

Jonah Hill’s “You People” co-stars are weighing in on the actor’s decision not to promote or do press for his films because of the toll it takes on his mental health.

Jonah Hill is caught between two worlds while trying to impress his fiancée’s family in new Netflix comedy “You People,” co-written by Hill and director Kenya Barris.
The official description reads: When a rideshare mix-up in L.A. brings Ezra Cohen (Hill) and Amira Mohammed (Lauren London) together, the two find themselves connecting over a shared love of streetwear and music. As they fall in love, their relationship is tested by their respective families: Ezra’s progressive and semi-woke parents (Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny) and Amira’s unyielding yet concerned parents (Eddie Murphy and Nia Long), who inject themselves into their lives mercilessly.

Netflix is about to lose one of its most-watched titles.
Sadly for subscribers in the UK, there are just over three weeks left to watch the US version of The Office, which will be removed from the service on 1 January 2023.
The Office has been one of Netflix's most successful licensed titles for years.
Its removal in the US, in November 2020, saw the streamer lose its most-watched TV show: in 2018, a Nielsen report revealed that subscribers clocked up more minutes watching The Office than any other series.
To put this into perspective, the streaming service once paid a staggering 100m to keep Friends for just one year – and that show didn’t even come close to being streamed in the US the same number of times as the Steve Carell series.
The removal from Netflix has been expected since June 2019 when NBC, the network that aired The Office, announced it would...

Adam Sandler has made an admission about the critical reception to his films.
Throughout his career, the actor’s choices have been regularly ridiculed by reviewers, who have given several of his films bad write-ups.
Films including Little Nicky, Grown-Ups, The Ridiculous 6 and Sandy Wexler have been torn apart by crtiics, and Sandler has acknowledged that, at first, such a reception came as a shock to him when he started writing and leading his own films in the mid-1990s.

“We read the first one and we were like, ‘Oh my god, what happened? They hate us.’ And then we were like, ‘It must have been this paper,’ but then 90 per cent of the papers are going,...

“When Billy Madison came out, me and my friend who wrote it, we were just like, ‘Oh yeah, they’re going to write about this in New York!’” Deadline reports the actor as saying.
“We read the first one and we were like, ‘Oh my god, what happened? They hate us.’ And then we were like, ‘It must have been this paper,’ but then 90 per cent of the papers are going,...

Jonah Hill fans are praising the actor for his mental health Netflix documentary Stutz.
In the documentary – which was releaed on 14 November – the Superbad star interviews his longtime therapist, Phil Stutz, who shares tools for coping with mental health struggles.
The 38-year-old, who directed Stutz himself, opens up about his own experiences. Meanwhile, Stutz provides actionable advice and techniques for viewers.
Fans have called the informative documentary “life-changing” and a must-see for anyone struggling with mental health issues.
One person tweeted: “Stutz on Netflix [is] life-changing. I feel so empowered now. Jonah Hill I love you 1000X.”
“I learned more about mental health in 90 minutes than I did with six years of reading self help books and going to various therapists,” said another.

Jonah Hill is begging to win Eddie Murphy’s approval in a new Netflix comedy directed by Kenya Barris.
Co-written by Hill and Barris, “You People” stars the “Superbad” alum as a Los Angeles native looking to wed his girlfriend (Lauren London). However, the interracial couple find themselves at a crossroads when it comes to winning over each others’ families, played by Eddie Murphy, Nia Long, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and David Duchovny. The official synopsis hints at the couple “confronting societal expectations and generational differences” amid clashing cultures.
Sam Jay, Elliott Gould, Molly Gordon, Rhea Perlman, Mike Epps, Alani La La Anthony, and Bryan Greenberg also star.
“Black-ish” series creator Barris — who also penned “Shaft,” “Girls Trip,” and the upcoming “White Men Can’t Jump” remake — produces the film alongside Hill and Kevin Misher. David Hyman, Matt Dines, Hale Rothstein, Alison Goodwin, Mychelle Deschamps, Andy Berman, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster serve as executive producers.

Daniel Radcliffe has admitted that he cried watching an unexpected Netflix documentary.
The Harry Potter star said that, while he rarely cries, he could recall the first film to make him tear up around his girlfriend of 10 years, actor Erin Darke.
“The first film that my girlfriend remembers me crying at – we’d been together for about a year and a half and she had never seen me cry in any context at that point because it’s not something that generally happens a lot – was when we watched a documentary called Undefeated about an American high school football team in Tennessee,” he told Deadline.
Released in 2011, the Academy Award-nominated documentary follows three young sports stars from underprivileged backgrounds in inner-city Memphis and the volunteer coach attempting to motivate them.
“I cried three times at three completely separate things in the last 40 minutes of the film,” Radcliffe said. “So, that...

Ben Affleck has called on Netflix to change up its “assembly line” way of producing films and “aim a little higher”.
The actor was speaking at The New York Times’ DealBook Summit on Wednesday (30 November) about the launch of Artist Equity, his new studio with Matt Damon.
During the talk, Affleck said that he wanted his studio to show that “commercial” films could still be well made, with their production teams paid fairly.
When the talk chairperson mentioned that he was interviewing Netflix’s co-ceo and chair Reed Hastings later that day, Affleck – who starred in Netflix action film Triple Frontier in 2019 – explained how Artist Equity would differentiate from the streamer.
“I see no differentiation between commercial and quality,” Affleck said. “If you ask Reed Hastings, [he’d say], ‘Well, we went for quantity to establish a footprint.’
“I’m sure there’s wisdom in that and I’m sure they had a great strategy,...

Jonah Hill has filed to legally change his name, according to reports.
The Superbad actor, whose real name is Jonah Hill Feldstein, filed a petition last week in Los Angeles to drop his surname and officially go by his stage name.
Legal documents obtained by TMZ show Hill “request that the court decree the following name changes”, before listing the proposed change.
Hill isn’t the only star to have attempted to be known by his stage name in recent months.
Earlier in November, Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul filed to change his own name from Aaron Paul Sturtevant, dropping his real surname and adopting Paul.
His wife, actor Lauren Parsekian, also filed to officially take on Paul as her own name.
At the same time, Paul filed to change the name of their seven-year-old son to Ryden Caspian Paul.

Jonah Hill was finishing up “Stutz,” an intimate and touching documentary about his longtime therapist, when the actor and filmmaker decided he was done talking about himself in public.
Citing the realization that he had suffered anxiety attacks for years, Hill said in a public statement over the summer that he would no longer promote any of his work, including “Stutz.” For now, at least, the Netflix release is the last time he’ll appear in front of the camera without putting on a performance.
It was an extraordinary move by a movie star in an era defined by self-promotion. Publicity has been part of Hill’s job since “Superbad” put him on the map over 15 years ago and the decision to evade the spotlight comes with immediate consequences: “Stutz” lost a high-profile slot at the Telluride Film Festival, which has a hard line about in-person appearances, and launched on...

Hill returns to the director’s chair with “Outcome,” based on a script he co-wrote with Ezra Woods. Hill’s Strong Baby production banner is producing. Deadline first reported the news.
While plot details are under wraps, IndieWire confirmed that actor Reeves is attached to star. You might ask, how’s Jonah Hill doing these days? Because truthfully, if you lean in and think about it, we haven’t seen the actor on screen all that much since he seemingly pivoted to directing with his promising debut, “mid90s,” in 2018. In the four years since, we’ve seen him all of twice, smaller supporting roles in “The Beach Bum” and “Don’t Look Up,” a quick appearance on “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and some small animated voice work.

I’m a writer. When my dad died, I seized on writing a eulogy as my best chance to process his loss — potentially messy and egoistic as it was, I could either make a florid spectacle of my grief or risk letting it fester inside me even worse than it was always going to. Jonah Hill is a filmmaker (among other things), and when his older brother Jordan suffered a fatal embolism in December of 2017, I suspect that Hill felt a similar instinct to express himself the best way he knew how.
Likewise, I suspect that he faced a version of the same dilemma that confronts anyone who can only access their most private feelings by airing them in public: He could only grapple with the deeply personal devastation of his brother’s death by making a movie about it, but making a movie about it would require him to...

Actor Jonah Hill has received plaudits for sharing recently his decision to step back from promoting his films in order to protect his mental health. After the Superbad star opened up in a public letter he shared on Deadline, saying he had suffered for 20 years from anxiety attacks, which were exacerbated by media appearances and public-facing events, two psychologists told the BBC of the importance of his message for the wider audience.
Dr Sandra Wheatley told the BBC that “somebody who has so much to lose is actually prepared to step back” should be admired, reports deadline.com.
She said that celebrities were performing constantly whenever they were out in public.
“But when they’re offstage, they go back to who they really are. So celebrities have to remember this persona in the media is an impersonation that you have, not you as an individual and that can be hard to balance.
