Originally, the character of Arnold Perlstein was supposed to make an appearance. Unfortunately an hour before shooting began, the actor confirmed to have tested positive for COVID. Because Arnold had many disagreements with Ms. Frizzle over field trips in the animated series, the story line was adjusted in which he would be traumatized from his childhood adventures- explaining his absence from the film. During the shoot, his lines were rewritten and given to another character. Ultimately, the dialogue was removed from the film entirely.
