The Melissa Harris-Perry TV show on MSNBC was over as of late February. Whether it was cancelled by the network or the host herself is a matter of opinion. After being preempted for a while, Perry refused to continue hosting, when MSNBC wanted to radically change the format of the weekend morning talk show.
Now Joy Ann Reid has been tapped to host a new, still untitled show in Perry's old slot. MSNBC cancelled her last show, The Reid Report, in February 2015 -- just about a year before Perry and MSNBC parted ways. Back in September the cable news outlet removed Rev. Al Sharpton's daily program, PoliticsNation, from the weekday schedule and shifted it to Sunday mornings at 8:00am. Back in July, it cancelled Now with Alex Wagner. Brian Williams will return to MSNBC on Sept. 22, the network announced on Thursday. After his six-month suspension, he is set to anchor breaking news cover of Pope Francis’ U.S. visit. Williams’ return to NBC’s sister network comes after chairman Andrew Lack essentially blew up the daytime lineup, with more changes likely to come in primetime. Over the summer, Lack canceled the 3-5 p.m. block featuring “The Cycle,” “Now with Alex Wagner” and the “Ed Show” replacing it with straight news from 3-5 p.m. Et. It’s not yet known who will anchor from 3-5 p.m.

After more than six months in exile, Brian Williams is set to return to MSNBC on Sept. 22, according to the network. He'll anchor live breaking news that day, which is expected to include coverage of the U.S. visit of Pope Francis. Williams' return comes as MSNBC president Phil Griffin already has made some adjustments to the daytime lineup. Last July, Griffin canceled three afternoon programs — The Cycle, Now With Alex Wagner and The Ed Show — while announcing that Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd would return to MSNBC to host a 5 p.m. show. It's unclear if

MSNBC president Phil Griffin on Friday informed staffers that he is cancelling three afternoon programs: roundtable discussion show The Cycle as well as Now With Alex Wagner and The Ed Show, hosted by Ed Schultz. Friday, July 31, will be the final show for all three. Schultz and Cycle hosts Krystal Ball, Abby Huntsman and Toure will leave the network, while Wagner will stay on to cover the 2016 presidential election. Meanwhile, Chuck Todd, who earlier this year was made host of Meet the Press, will host a daily program at 5 p.m. Major changes have been expected across MSNBC's dayside

Bill Cosby‘s attorney issued a new statement on Thursday that took aim at MSNBC contributor Michael Eric Dyson, who had accused the embattled comedian on Wednesday of “raping” the black community.
Attorney John P. Schmitt called Dyson’s comments “mean-spirited” and “reckless” in a statement for TheWrap.
“Michael Eric Dyson, who has been a persistent critic of Mr. Cosby’s call for responsibility in the African-American community, has stated that Mr. Cosby’s request for neutrality is part of what he calls Mr. Cosby’s ‘rape [of the ] entire black community.’ Mr. Cosby understands that Mr. Dyson does not agree with Mr.

MSNBC host Alex Wagner had a bone to pick with Houston conservatives on Friday when she called out Sen. Ted Cruz (R-tx). In 2010, Houston became the largest city to elect an openly gay mayor. This May the city approved the “equal rights ordnance,” which bans discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation in businesses that serve the public. However, a petition that included several pastors was submitted to strike down the ordnance due to the “perceived threat of male sexual predators dressed in drag entering women's restrooms.” See photos: 24 TV Newscasters Ranked by Popularity (Photos) On “Now With Alex Wagner,...

Nearly a year into the Alex Wagner era at MSNBC, I finally got the chance to sit down with my old White House compadre to catch up, and ask about the news of the day, the media, and what goes into making her show, Now With Alex Wagner. The noon MSNBC offering just completed its 207th episode today, and has distinguished itself from other cable news fare with an eclectic array of panelists and a loose, quirky vibe. In the first part of our interview, Alex waxes nostalgic about the White House beat, and discusses the hard work (and other ingredients) that go into her show.
