Extremely underrated
solangedesousa30 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I loved everything about this series. It is so unique.

A relatable story about someone searching outwardly for answers to her life. Being thrown from dimension to dimension, meeting different versions of her life, only to discover that the grass is not greener on the other side and that most of her issues come from within herself.

The fact that Zoe Lister-Jones wrote, produced and starred in it was even more fascinating to me. I have noticed a few actors that want to do more than just act, Zoe proves she is one of them.

I have always loved stories with a little magic, this one gives you just enough magic that it's not so far fetched and you can still find yourself relating to our main character in some way or another.

An indie movie stretched too far
somethingreal8128 April 2023
Maybe if this had been a 90 minute movie it would have been effective, but as a 6 episodes series it completely wore out its welcome. The overall premise of slipping between different realities with different partners was intriguing, but after a while it didn't really feel like the alternate realities offered much of anything new to the character's journey. The first episode also painted the husband in such a negative light that it was hard to believe the main character would spend the entire series desperately trying to get back to him. Sure, "the grass is always greener" and maybe her life wasn't as bad as she originally thought, but her attempts to get back to her old life felt obligatory and inorganic--and the ambiguous ending definitely didn't help.

Trying to be if Sliders and Sex and the City had a baby.
DarkVulcan2915 May 2023
A premise that has some promise, but not all well executed, I realize that the series is trying to be for adults, but it tries to hard in spots, to where you tell yourself alright you made your point enough already.

Now the idea for a comedy-drama, when a woman (Zoe Lister Jones) who travels through alternate dimensions, is a good idea, but just not done too well. Brings too many characters in that we just don't get really invested in. Now Zoe Lister Jones does pretty well in the comedy and drama part, and Tymika Tafari is pretty memorable has Jones friend. But the rest of it not so much. Will there be a second season who knows, but I hope it will improve if there is a second season.

Ok ik I'm gonna catch guff for this... Lots and lots of guff I tells ya but...
orcinusorca-428135 June 2023
Is there anything hotter than Zoe? If there is I don't want to know about it! However this being said, and don't get me wrong, what a talent! Kudos! Huge achievement! And importantly I am really enjoying it, it's very entertaining and... Ya know what, I'm going to disregard and censor my chief criticism, because it's dialog related and frankly, there's no accounting for what one might say and the lingo they might adopt - so basically yaaa this review is turning into yet another white boy remarking on what a smoke show Zoe is... Soooooo yaaa sorry ( hey Zoe, dm me?) lol jk jk, I know this is not that.

Thought provoking and philosophical
rplemmo28 April 2023
Zoe's Lister-Jones performance, writing, and direction created a beautiful piece of art. I enjoyed the series from the start because of her presence, especially. It's refreshing to see sex scenes filmed through a woman's lens, and as an integral part of the story. By the final episode, I had a different take on the whole series than I did at the beginning. It was life-affirming, while exploring how easy it is to lose sight of ourselves and all the gifts in our lives. I love quirky, philosophical films, and this hit the spot. If you're a fan of main stream films, this might not be up your alley..

interesting concept, sadly that's all there is
romeosami22 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I wanted to see this show because the plot sounded really interesting despite subpar rating, so I took the risk and now I am writing this so you won't have to. Cringeworthy dialogues, cliches, cheap sex scenes, generalising adultery, unlikable characters, lack of charm. Taking fast does not automatically means it becomes funny. This feels like someone had a an interesting idea, what if....? But they totally tanked after that. This show could be redone and made thousand times better and that show will get 8-9 rating but sadly this is not that show. If you are bored adm want to see some modern housewife cheat and get teleported in other lives where is married to different people of age gender race, as she realises what she threw away, go for it, but there is no redemption here.

Unique storyline well told.
ourelbi28 September 2023
I loved this, and Zoe Lister-Jones is great in anything she's in. The storyline was really interesting and I loved the moving through the different dimensions. I'm not really getting the negative reviews on this. It's something different, is easy viewing at half an hour, and only goes for seven episodes. I'd probably class it as humorous drama, rather than a comedy, though. So don't go into it thinking there'll be heaps of laughs.

The supporting cast were great too, except I think the husband was miscast - he seemed like an overgrown teenager, and the two of them married wasn't really believable for me.

Total Self-Indulgence without Self=Awareness
makeham9830 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This really sounded like it could have been an interesting concept, but by the end of the third episode it is clear that the lead character is lacking self-awareness and the cause of her own misery. An "all about me" person who would likely never be satisfied with life as she treats her best friend like dirt in several realities (a character who is in the script just to give the false impression that she may be the tie between the different "realities" and returning home.

The show might as well be a cross between the wizard of oz and quantum leap. There's no redemption for this unlikeable lead at the end. And she is in virtually every minute of the series, no character development since he really never changes. Can't get much colder than her reaction to a death. To her credit, she looks good naked.

The ending is ambiguous, at best someone who can't enjoy the good things in her life found out that it could be worse. Hooray!

I really liked it
h-1544723 April 2023
To me this is one of those series to be watched on a certain mood, definitely not after coming from your lousy work that you don't like (if you're in that situation), or after coming from running when the brain is too alert. I watched all episodes late at night and enjoyed it very much, maybe because of the late night tranquility.

I didn't know the main actress and she impressed me a lot, on how natural and real her performance is, specially on the laughs. I think she is fantastic and will search more of her work.

The best things of this show is in the details. If you watch it for the general story that it is and expect a certain outcome, you might find that there is no sense of direction or that it didn't work... but if you just let it go with the flow, you will certainly find some gems regarding the psychology and behavior of the characters. I also loved the soundtrack, it makes the surreal moments funny and the happy moments really sweet.

Full circle - in a roundabout way
dcturner5830 April 2023
This brief series should be binge-watched with zero expectations and zero distractions. Zoe Lister-Jones should be in the running for an Emmy for the scene in Episode 7 where she screams at herself and Gina shows up. I don't agree with other reviewers who say it could have been a 90-minute movie. Each episode was clearly separate from the previous and necessary. The different characters throughout are delicately braided throughout. Primary original characters, Gina for example, showing up throughout, make this fantasy story feel plausible. By the way, Mae's orgasms were definitely catchy. Hard to believe there were there was a film crew milling about!

A joke concept made into reality!
bellab197220 May 2023
I have seen on quite a few shows jokes about time travel where people have to climax to time travel and some idiot decided this was a good idea..COPIED THE JOKE, and now we have SLIP!

The main actor is awful and is neither a good actor or plays a watchable character! She is ultra annoying and self centred and not enjoyable to watch if you can ignore the absolutely ridiculous premise of having to climax to time travel.

There is no risk of adding spoilers because there is nothing to spoil, this show is awful!

The storyline is not original, the acting is terrible and there is nothing redeemable about this train wreck of a show. It's actually shocking it's been made at all and such a waste of time and money.

Not perfect but holds attention
wcbader-4845123 April 2023
It's not perfect but it holds your attention. The focus is very centered on Mae which fits the plot, but the Gina and Elijah actors contribute some necessary counterpoint. Does not completely hang together on close inspection but it is still interesting to watch. The story is a kind of variant on a Groundhog Day sort of theme, but more serious and even a little full of itself. There is a little too much self-centered introspection. There are many varied situations, most of which are compelling. There is a good range of secondary characters which contributes to the interest. Overall, a good effort on a non-traditional story.

"I am a director, I am a writer, I am an actress" situation and it didn't work
Almost_Soldout22 April 2023
When there is such a huge competition with unique content, seems like every idea / show gets green light (although I know it's not exact true). Personally I am quite annoyed with "I am a director, I am a writer, I am an actress" situation but it makes any show look like self-obsessive project for this kind of shows which keeps the show behind because the whole focus is on that particular person.

I really tried to like it but I didn't find it touching at all. The idea behind the show is so common nowadays it's like trying to invent a Coca Cola substitute which means If you are getting in that that direction you have to really impress your viewers or at least bring something new, not just applying a personal midlife crises to that formula.

I'm in...let's go!
vancitylollz22 May 2023
Wondering if all the bad reviews are all people who don't actively listen to the people they are in relationships with.

We all have this piece in us, the "concept" is reality.

No explanations and no completed mind bends, but an opportunity to resonate was given in this show.

The things you "think you want", played out in a very clever full circle way.

Don't expect a thriller here friends...it's the beautiful simplicity of cause and effect and I really dug in.

I would watch more and recommend it to anyone.

It's not fluff, and if scenes make you cringe because it's human and real, you may want to look in the mirror too, just to find where you went.

Loving it!
nikitastar23 April 2023
I have only watched 2eps and I love it! (Thank you Roku) Finally witty/ dry/sarcastic/intelligent comedic writing, brilliant acting, esp from lead actor/writer Zoe Lister-Jones. I am also researching (googling lol) other (new to me) cast members who I'm finding very interesting! Lister-Jones has a wonderful presence already, this far in, and I'm eager to see how her personality blooms in this show. It is not head-on screaming feminism but hints of it in certain scenes that I appreciated. I am a 'Girls' fan and this might better fill that gap. (100% reviews on some other sites too!) Also as a bonus to me, filmed in my hone town (city) of Toronto!

Soft P*rn Multiverse
nightringer-768406 June 2023
Time travel or parallel universe shifting is not a new idea. Slip is a combination of multiverse with erotic drama. As an independent low budget series, it's good. As a SciFi, it's very poor because of the impossible-ness. As a drama, it's like stiching spft porn from the 90s into a 7 episodes.

I found the storyline wasn't explored to the max. It doesn't question the why and how deep enough to be interesting. This storyline was written based on EQ brainstorming. It lacked clear concept and goal. It just a sexual adventure to find the heroine home universe. Nothing is memorable.

I do thing Slip won't get 2nd season.

A little clarity
Tactrix5 June 2023
Here's what everyone who makes a show should ask upon writing a scrip, "who am I trying to tell this story to?" The answer for this show is, no one. I've never met a person, or even heard of a person that thought "you know what I'd like to watch? A girl who's just going through the motions, all of a sudden discover that her super power is transporting to new dimensions when she decides to cheat."

If you're wonder why, it's because it's a very stupid concept. Like legitimately even saying it out loud think about how stupid that sounds. It's not for women, it's not for men, it's not for kids, there isn't a single group ANYWHERE that this show is for. I just think it's one of those things that happens when all the real writers go on strike and they end up with the rejects that are left to do all the script writing.

1/10, stupid concept, worse execution.
