Madonna‘s Like a Prayer has a suggestive title track, but it also has some moments of innocence. For example, one of the tracks from the album was inspired by a little girl. The response to the track in different countries was polarized. Notably, the song in question inspired one of the most uncharacteristic videos of Madonna’s career.
Madonna’s ‘Like a Prayer’ era was a change of pace for her
Like a Prayer was the moment Madonna’s music became a lot more personal. It deals with the Materials Girls’ feelings about religion, her family, and her divorce from Sean Penn. The album was co-produced by Patrick Leonard, the unsung songwriting maestro who co-wrote “Like a Prayer,” “Express Yourself,” and other Madonna hits.
During a 2017 interview with Boy Culture, Leonard discussed why Madonna’s music became more personal with Like a Prayer. “I think it happens naturally,” he replied.

Jessie Ware deserves to be a bigger star, and she knows it. “Sell out next time, Los Angeles,” the U.K. singer joked to the giddy, surprisingly multigenerational crowd at the Hollywood Palladium on Monday night, one of a few times during her hour-and-a-half-long set that she gently ribbed her audience.
No matter. The night felt like the best kind of secret party. Specifically, one taking place in an imaginary club called the Pearl circa 1979. Emerging in a billowing bright red kaftan that looked one part Donna Summer and one part Stevie Nicks, Ware leaned hard into the disco-funk of her most recent albums, 2020’s What’s Your Pleasure? and this year’s That! Feels Good!, and nodding only briefly to the elegantly restrained R&b and blue-eyed soul that she built her name on starting with 2012’s Devotion. Peyton List, who first made a name for herself in as a Disney up-and-comer in “Jessie” and “Bunk’d,” is veering into darker territory in Paramount+’s “School Spirits” — a move the actress has been seeking since she first entered the industry.
“I wanted to do Disney so badly, but also … I was auditioning for more movies and shows and all kinds of different projects that were darker as a kid,” List told TheWrap, adding that she wanted to explore more complex themes before being cast in a Disney show. “I want to be able to play different characters and show more humanity.”
Now, as List plays Maddie in the Paramount+ high school drama with a ghoulish twist, List says the nuanced role feels “natural” to her, noting that Maddie feels less like performing a character and more like a “real person.”

Nashville is ramping up the drama.
The Cmt country music drama debuted the first trailer for the upcoming sixth season on Thursday, and it looks like Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) will have a very public onstage breakdown.
In the 30-second teaser, Juliette -- rocking an all-black ensemble and diamond teardrop earrings -- is livid and she makes it known to the raucous crowd.
“I don’t want your money. I don’t want your attention,” a stewing Juliette spews into the mic, saving the most hurtful zinger for last as she storms offstage: “I sure as hell don’t want your love.”

What prompts Juliette’s uncharacteristic (and sure-to-go-viral) onstage moment? A brief glimpse of an emotional Juliette does flash over her breakdown. Could that be connected to it at all?

The record label Rayna Jaymes worked so hard to build may be in shambles, and if it does survive, it’ll do so without one of its marquee players. Still, Nashville showrunner Marshall Herskovitz says, we should consider the Season 5 finale a win… for Juliette, if no one else.
