Don't listen to fake 10 star reviews
tanishaabdulrahman10 March 2024
After we had god awful squeal Peacock decided to do tv series and looks bad as the movie. We got cringe dialogue, awful budget animation and new characters are annoying and forgettable.

And look how they massacred my boy Megamind is complete idiot in TV series why is so annoying now. As person that likes tv series from cartoons Disney did that better with Aladdin, hercules, Buzz Lightyear star command, little mermaid etc.

This is unnecessary adaption between bad squeal and now forgettable tv series its insult to first Megamind movie. Please don't watch this don't give it time your energy. Your better off just watching someone else the fact they have audacity to say you want to do third movie you ruined such great movie and spit on fans I hope they don't go forward with it.

Less Excruciating but stilll painful
calahao2 March 2024
Continuing where Megamind vs The Doom Syndicate left off, this series has much the same problems as that sequel. Being largely episodic, it does nonetheless follow a plot thread debuting in that movie, that still runs counter to the original movie's plot.

Some of the jokes admitely hit better, but for the most part the humor is still the same, largely juvenile and devoid of the wit of the original. The sole redeeming character, Nighty-Knight, has less secreentime and edgy quips, so that sucks. And there is a strange lack of romance between Megamind and Roxanne, despiste even being addressed in one episode.

Again, a must NOT watch.

No, this is not good

Cheap animation, bad jokes, terrible dialogue... it's pretty clear why the voice cast didn't return. This is yet another lazy sequel/series that seems to exist purely to push content. As of now, there's 1 other review here that's glowing. Don't believe it. They've only reviewed this and the awful straight to streaming movie that dropped on the same day to set this up. Sus.

This show started auto-playing as soon as that ended, which I'll bet is going to be most of it's viewership. I wish I hadn't wasted time watching either. I know a lot of this stuff gets accused of being written by AI during the strikes, but I can see that actually happening here, with it looking so terrible because it was rushed out. Do better guys.

This is horrible, do not listen to the 10 star reviews
WreathedLamp17 March 2024
I have never seen the original Megamind (although I have heard great things about it), but I do not need to to recognize this is a bad show. The animation looks like Paw Patrol. There is no excuse for a show released in 2024 to look like it came out in 2009. The characters are poorly written, I doubt any effort was placed into writing them (even though I've never seen the original movie, I am 100% certain that this was not how Megamind acted in it.) Plots are terrible and execution is the same, nothing interesting is ever accomplished to spice up how bad the premises are. It's hard to believe these are the original writers of a beloved classic. I'm pretty sure the idea of Megamind discovering the internet and trying to become internet famous makes fans cry in agony. The writing is the worst part. The jokes feel AI written, and by and by and AI that has never heard a funny joke in its life. The show beats you down with cringe one liners and 2014 internet jokes with no room to breathe. It is actually shocking the amount of ways the show manages to write something stupid. It is every bad part of every cheap baby show ever wrapped into a gross mass.

Reduced to a toddler's show.
postaldumbass14 March 2024
I kinda just wrote a review on the movie/weird pilot that comes before this series but I have a few words for this as well. The writing is disgustingly bland and shallow, littered with butchered characterizations of returning personalities, childishly basic one-liners and puns, and extremely awful tropes and cliches. It has extremely stiff animation, which is somewhat expected from a cheaper budget, but given that this is DREAMWORKS, they could have done sooooo much better for this and other tv series. Some of the other reviewers (which might be, in all honesty, bots or paid actors) say that it is enjoyable for kids and adults alike, when the show is obviously written like its just meant to be a form of stimulant for toddlers. Which is awful in comparison to the original movie, with great action and comedy for kids and a unexpectedly well written story for adults.

This is very weak animation
sorenanajafdary13 March 2024
The story of this movie is bad I don't like this. It is boring and animations. The movements of characters is very unhuman you know from the 2010 move was better than thes animation, the lights the colors are better you know every time we go to the New Year's the animations get worse and worse the old animation are better than the new animation. The story of new animation are boring. The villains are boring. The movements of character are creepy. The Megamind for 2010 it was a very genius idea to be an animation but today this Megamind is crazy and creepy. We should back to the 2000 because animation in 2000 was better from today.

BigBrain sucks
aowbwokana22 April 2024
This show was just weird to sit through at first, like all the humour I found was just from random clips I edited and like two jokes that got a laugh at me, specifically the taxes one in episode 1 and cake in episode 7, the main thing I was just confused by was the fact that they seem to set up a thing with Megamind in the first episode but it never actually goes anywhere aside from a few mentions of it few and far between

Megamind also had his character majorly assassinated with him being an idiot here and weirdly egotistical, it's also just weird that a lot of conflicts are caused because the heroes in this show like they can't do anything remotely competent

While this does retcon stuff from the first movie I will have to view it all as canon till it's confirmed otherwise, I'm hoping for a season 2 tbh just to see how far this downward spiral gets, also so Shaffrillas can lose his mind more.

Yes, actually. It is good. Great even.

Warning: Spoilers
I literally made an account here just to rate this show because I think all the bad reviews it's getting, is absolute bandwagon hate. If you watched this and think it's any less than 5/10 stars you are LYING or don't like kids shows, so you would have never liked it anyways. I think streaming over sensationalizes things these days. If it this was a few years ago when stuff like this just got put on Nickelodeon, no one would have cared this much. I absolutely loved this series. It was so funny. I can't believe someone said the writing and jokes were bad. It was literally written by the same dudes who created the first movie. The jokes and writing feel the same to me. I'm not going to sit here and pretend the animation was good, but why did y'all expect that when EVERY DreamWorks TV show is animated like that? The original voice actors couldn't come for budgeting, and scheduling issues. Y'all should really look stuff up before you just assume the actors thought it was so bad they just wouldn't agree to join. This isn't Megamind 2, people. It's a streaming show for CHILDREN. And I think it does that so well without talking down to kids. Not even halfway through the first episode, I felt so much delight. I even cried on the 7th episode.

I really hope more comes out.

Don't listen to the review butchers and have an open mind.
redgrape-2156719 March 2024
Honestly I think the show is alright. As it Picks up where Megamind vs The Doom Syndicate left off.

I honestly think that this show has great potential. While the writing is clichéd, I honestly think that they did their best while dealing with strict deadlines.

The animation is alright as it's on par with shows like Monsters v. Aliens (2013), and Penguins of Madagascar the show but not as good as say something from Madagascar: A Little Wild.

The new characters like Keiko shows symbolism and change since the first movie was shown in 2010, as both the show and movie was released

I honestly hope they'll look over the original film and get the original cast back for Season 2 and introduce some new heroes for Megamind to team up like a Native American themed hero voiced by Gil Birmingham.

More Megamind = Win
galexynumber11 March 2024
What can I say? I'm in love! More Megamind is a win, in my book. I don't need perfect animation to be pleased, I'm that that spoiled. It looks good for a tv series, sometimes it looks downright impressive given the budget. The voice actors did a pretty darn amazing job, especially Keith Ferguson as Megamind -- I literally forgot at points that he's not Will Ferrell. Keiko is a nice new addition, I actually like her; she's kind of relatable, you know, what with her being obsessed with Megamind and everything. I won't deny it, this little blue alien has taken over my life. I'm not complaining. Or, well, not yet -- I'll only complain if I don't end up getting a Season 2 because SOME PEOPLE just really love to hate things for some reason.

I LOLed every episode. Give this series a watch!
I binge watched this last night with my kids, and it was HILARIOUS! If you're a 40 year old man with an obsession with the 2010 movie, you will probably not like this new film. But if you're a kid with wide eyes and an open heart full of joy, you're going to love it!

I have to admit, I had never seen the 2010 movie, so when I came to IMDB I was shellshocked to see people giving this series 1 stars. After googling for context, it's clear most of these 1 star reviews are simply uninformed backlash about the original cast not returning, not people who actually watched this series. I even watched a clip of the 2010 original and the animation was far worse back then, obviously, so not sure what people are complaining about.

People, watch this series! It's really good!

The original writers/creators of the 2010 movie wrote and produced this new film. I'm a voiceover fanboy so I looked into all the cast. Keith Ferguson (Overwatch's Reaper! So crazy!!) is perfect as Megamind. His comedic timing is on point. Josh Brener (Maron, Silicon Valley, Mythic Quest) is side-splittingly hilarious as the sidekick Ole Chum. All around, the cast is great. Sure, no Hollywood A-list movie stars in the cast, but this is a talented batch of voice actors.

And most importantly for me: this is a series I can enjoy with my kids. And the last episode??? Wheww boy. Can't wait for more Megamind!

Megamind Rules!!
missmeganmartian10 March 2024
One of the strengths of Megamind is its clever and witty humor. If the first season was successful in delivering laughs and entertainment, a second season could continue to capitalize on this, maintaining the charm that made the franchise enjoyable in the first place.

The characters in Megamind are well-developed and have distinct personalities. The dynamics between Megamind, Roxanne, Minion, and others provide ample opportunities for engaging and humorous interactions, making it a solid foundation for additional episodes.

WE NEED MORE MEGAROX!!!

Megamind Rules has received positive reviews and garnered a dedicated fan base, and this is a strong indicator that there is demand for more content. A second season will capitalize on the existing popularity and give fans more of what they love: MEGAMIND!!

The Imperative Need for Additional Seasons of "Megamind Rules" for an Unmatched Narrative and MegaRox Bliss
megamindfandombookclub10 March 2024
Megamind Rules," the animated series inspired by the beloved 2010 film "Megamind," has captured the hearts of fans with its witty humor, dynamic characters, and unique take on the superhero genre. However, to truly do justice to the complex and evolving story of Megamind, and to satiate the hunger of fans for more MegaRox moments, a second and third season are imperative.

The first season laid the foundation, exploring Megamind's transition from villain to hero, his relationships with Roxanne Ritchi and other characters, and his journey towards self-acceptance. However, a single season barely scratches the surface of Megamind's intricate narrative. To delve deeper into his psyche, past, and the complexities of his new role as Metro City's protector, a second season is essential.

A second season could explore Megamind's struggles with his past as a villain, the challenges of earning the trust of the citizens he once terrorized, and the ongoing development of his relationship with Roxanne. With each episode, viewers would witness Megamind's growth, uncovering layers of his personality that were previously unexplored. This character depth is crucial for a well-rounded and satisfying narrative, providing fans with a more profound understanding of their favorite blue-skinned hero.

The romantic tension between Megamind and Roxanne Ritchi laid out in the 2010 movie with MvDS revealing that their relationship is "complicated" which could further the notion that they have work to do to overcome the adversity that was laid out in the 2010 movie. We need more of this! We need to see them working through what happened and growing stronger as a couple for it!

The chemistry between these two characters is palpable, and fans have eagerly anticipated the progression of their relationship.

"Megamind Rules" has laid a fantastic foundation, but the story is far from complete. To fully unravel Megamind's character arc and provide fans with the MegaRox moments they desire, a second and third season are not just desirable - they are essential. With expanded storytelling, deeper character development, and an exploration of Megamind and Roxanne's relationship, "Megamind Rules" could become an iconic animated series that continues to captivate audiences for years to come.

Yes, I know that it is with a small budget but it has been improving until it has a great ending "cliffhanger"
cryler-448994 March 2024
For everyone or almost everyone who said that this series was horrible, I will say that it went from less to more.

Yes, it is true that the quality of the drawing is lower and with a low budget compared to movie 1, but aren't all animated series like that?

This series is more oriented towards younger children and somewhat towards teenagers, but that won't stop you from enjoying it if you loved movie 1.

I liked being able to get to know Megamind a little more and understand his strange way of speaking.

I liked the ending, with a great Cliffanger and inviting an interesting season 2 with the return of someone we all admire.

P.s: The strange relationship between Roxane and Megamind made me a little angry, since in movie 1 it was clear that they fell in love. Although in one episode it is hinted that they do love each other but have a hard time declaring themselves.

Super Fun, Reminiscent of 90s Cartoons!
petsbypam16 March 2024
This show is so fun! It's goofy and light, while also exploring healthy and positive messages for kids.

In one episode the gang has to learn to make accommodations for different needs in their communal space rather than sticking rigidly to a "system" that once worked but doesn't anymore, while also battling an evil army of sapient cockroaches!

In another, Megamind has to learn to explore negative feelings that are manifesting as a tummy ache rather than trying to ignore them, while also wrangling an escaped robot whose programming makes him a threat to the city!

It is funny and exciting while also promoting positive themes and lessons. It's very reminiscent to me of the kids shows I watched in the 90s; Sonic, Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers, TailSpin, Gargoyles, etc, and it's really great to have something so fun and easy to get sucked into.

I think it's more enjoyable for adults, though, than that older stuff because the writers (the same writers as the original 2010 Megamind movie) really know how to throw in the same kind of jokes that we all appreciated from the 2010 movie!

I find the show has both more humor and heart than the new movie, Megamind vs The Doom Syndicate, and I think it's because the characters are given more time to breathe and interact with each other, whereas the movie was paced very quickly to squeeze a lot in. The show is great. If the movie didn't grab you, definitely give the show a shot!

Hilarious and charming!
ilovegarebear11 March 2024
I love this series! It gave me all I could have hoped for! Just to have Megamind back is a dream come true! Each episode is very entertaining and interesting and I've watched them all over and over again! It's so fun to see Megamind and Roxanne's relationship build and to see how Megamind acts around younger people and the Doom Syndicate, especially Nighty Knight, is super funny! The animation looks great for a series and I'm very happy with it and hope that we get Season 2 soon! Season 1 ended on a really intense cliffhanger and it just.... everything needs to be fixed. And I'm really excited about the return of one character, who's name I shant speak....

Reminiscent of old cartoons
vpirdy10 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
If you grew up with and fondly remember shows like Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Darkwing Duck, etc, that's the sort of tone you can expect from this. It's overall very silly with off-the-wall plots, but then it also comes to an overarching plot with the main villain. This is definitely on the goofier side rather than being like "Gargoyles" or "Batman: The Animated Series". Expect things like evil cockroaches and kaiju rather than tragic character deaths.

While I do love shows like Gargoyles, I ended up feeling very nostalgic while watching this. A lot of things today feel like there is a demand for them to be grounded and serious without the cartoonishness of yesteryear. Megamind Rules! Unapologetically leans into the craziness. This is the Megamind that made an evil robot unicorn and then forgot to make sure it was actually working properly (comics) and made very mature smooching noises to goad Hal into a fight. He's childish, but he's learning to work with other people more and not just use them for what he wants.

The voice actors did a great job. Everyone feels like they enjoy being their characters. I know they get a lot of complaints for not being the original cast, but I didn't even notice them.

The animation is TV quality. Overall fine for kids, but you see a slip-up here and there. The models were basically just taken from the original movie and updated in new software. One of the biggest differences will show in things like color and lighting. The original movie is very dark (potentially to hide animation issues or software limitations, and many details are hard to see clearly. Which is fine! The original movie is great and they worked with what limitations they had at the time and did an AMAZING job). They also just had more time to play with lighting. The TV show is very bright, sharp, and clear. Just as an example, try to find a clear image of Minion's back in the original movie compared to finding a clear image of it in the show.

To note, I've seen people mistake screenshots from the show for the original movie and vice versa (although the lighting would be a good giveaway for people who really know them).

You can find different lessons for kids in the episodes about things like people being frauds on the internet, or how you have to balance giving people everything they want versus telling them "No" all the time.

Megamind is overall still a little gremlin of chaos, but he still shows up at the end to comfort Keiko instead of yelling at her for betraying him. There are also details like him stepping in front of Keiko protectively when there's a real threat around, and him trying to protect her from having to go through what he went through growing up.

Megamind isn't cynical about the world and goes into everything like it's a fun, fresh experience. He's also dealing with a lot of new things that he never had to before, like jealousy and giving other people credit. He's a pretty good character to aim towards kids because of his uniquely childlike personality despite being an adult, and because his lack of experience lets him learn new things.

This also takes place immediately after the first movie, so Roxanne and Megamind still seem to be working through the awkwardness of her finding out that he catfished her for the majority of the movie. They're still close, but it's a slow burn.

Also, it's perfectly appropriate for kids. Parents don't need to worry about anything weird being randomly shoved in there.

I can see spots where the writing needs a bit more editing or the animation needs some tweaking, but it's fine overall with a few good laughs and an amazing opening song.

Why you need to watch Megamind Rules!
lydiavidell10 March 2024
I said this in my MvDS review, but I will add it here again because it needs to be said: "One of the standout features of Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate is its impeccable voice cast.

Keith Ferguson (Megamind), Josh Brener (Minion/Ol' Chum), Laura Post (Roxanne Ritchi) sound so alike from the original cast that once you beginning watching, you honestly they are not Ferrell, Fey and Cross."

Megamind Rules in every sense of the word; not only because of its storytelling but also because of the writer's clever ability to balance humor for both children and adults. The witty dialogue, clever jokes, and pop culture references ensure that audiences of all ages will find something to enjoy. The jokes are laugh-out-loud funny makes it a joy for viewers to revisit and discover more nuance upon subsequent viewings.

The underlying messages of self-discovery and redemption adds depth and encourages viewers to embrace their unique qualities, appreciate the value of friendship, and understand that everyone has the potential for growth and change. All of which is in the spirit of the 2010 movie. Everyone needs a reminder they are capable of changing and growing!

New plot elements add layers of personality to the established charectors roles, creating a dynamic ensemble that elevates the story to new heights.

Now, let's talk about the urgency for a Season 2. Audience and Fandom are left craving for more adventures in the witty and imaginative world of Megamind. A second season could further explore the characters' backgrounds, introduce new villains, and delve deeper into the relationships established in theprevious installments.

The potential for expanding the Megamind universe is limitless, and fans are eagerly anticipating the announcement of a second season to continue the thrilling journey. (Fogel, anytime now!!)

In conclusion, Megamind Rules! (and Megamind Vs. The Doom Syndicate) deserves not only a 10-star review but also widespread acclaim. Don't miss the chance to be a part of this animated adventure - it's an experience that promises laughter, excitement, and a heartfelt connection to the characters that will stay with you long after the credits roll.

wicked funny
victoredemonte11 March 2024
This show is wicked funny. Megamind is just hilarious. So are the other characters. Honestly i dont know why everyones saying they hate it, im starting to wonder if theyre just following the crowd at this point lol. Like no its not like the original movie from 2010 but its not supposed to be?? Like this is a tv series guys. No dreamworks series has ever been as good as the original film from which it derived. I think its awesome for what it is. Excellent humor, interesting plots and stories, near new characters. It all works. It fits. It feels like megamind and im honestly looking foward to seeing what comes next. Hoping people who are mad wont ruin it for us cause we need season 2 lol.

Fun and true to the original movie
blueraysunshine10 March 2024
This show does a lot on a limited budget. The dialogue and stories are true to the original characters and you can tell the writers had fun making it. I've been in the Megamind fandom since the original movie came out, and most of us are happy with the new series. Makes me angry to see so many people **who've never cared about the franchise before** super mad that a new show and straight-to-streaming movie came out. Just say you don't like the franchise!

I had low expectations going into this, but I was pleasantly surprised at just how many sweet and funny moments are in the show. I hope that this helps more people come to know the characters and the fandom.

Calling Fun Things Bad -- A Trend?
Those who are saying this is bad are literally just saying it because for some reason it's currently a trend to say that fun things are the worst things that ever existed. I think people really need therapy so they can work out whatever issues theyre having that makes them loathe fiction to this degree. I think it's a fun show! It's amusing, it's fun to watch, it's pretty touching at points. The animation is not THAT BAD, people are being so ridiculous. Not everything has to have Avatar-level CGI. It's a work of art, it's someone's creation, take it for what it is and appreciate that somebody made something out of nothing. Appreciate that we have more Megamind content after 13 years of nothing. Some people are so ungrateful, I swear.

O B S E S S E D
I'm honestly obsessed with this series LOL! The animation for the series actually looks better than it did in the movie for whatever reason, the writing is spot on, it's hilarious, it's fun, it's entertaining. As a huge Megamind fan, it's really thrilling to learn more about what makes Megamind who he is, and see how he interacts with other people as a hero. I'm invested in his relationship with Keiko, who poses as a sort of Robin to Megamind's Batman. It's great to see him take on this fatherly role in her life. And don't get me started on the Megamind and Roxanne content! I need them to kiss. Like, bad.

Anyway, it was heartwarming, funny, it was entertaining, relatable. I have no complaints, other than that I need more and I need it right now!!
