Director: Neil Mackay. Writers: Sean McAulay and Neil Mackay. Cast: Bryan Larkin, Bob Cymbalski, Hugh Lambe, Damon E. White, Lee Sandford, Robert Nolan, Mark Monroe, and Frank Ieraci. Tagline: "There will be no peace." Battleground was previously called Skeleton Lake and this title can be considered a Canadian film. Shot in Ontario by Canadian director Neil Mackay, a forest soon becomes a murderous quagmire for six armed robbers. A psychopathic veteran from The Vietnam War is using these woods for live target practice. And soon, Battleground is showing its strengths, action sequences and its weaknesses, a sparse storyline. That storyline will not make your head spin. As stated, six thieves have robbed a local business in Michigan State. They have killed a cop. An accomplice tells them to wait it out at a nearby cabin until he can arrange an escape for them. Unfortunately for the criminals, a killer with no rhyme or reason,...

Skeleton Lake PosterNot many thrillers will bring rocket launchers to the trailer, but Dimeworth Films is a cutting edge production company that is doing just that. In this promotional footage for Skeleton Lake six bank robbers take on a man who is armed to the teeth for hidden loot. Trucks explode from rocket propelled grenades and gun fire lights up the screen. And from the trailer, it looks like neither party makes it out of armed conflict unscathed. Check out the reel for this independent release, until Skeleton Lake is available early in 2012.

Dimeworth Films is a name that’s been coming up quite a bit in my weekly video searches and it’s one that’s already come up on our radar with the production of Ayz Waraich’s short film The Divine River (trailer).
Earlier today I noticed Waraich’s name attached to another project, this time as the writer for another Dimeworth project. Directed by Vancouver’s Dan Gaud, Daylight features a man in search of his wife “in a dying world, where dangerous creatures prowl the night, and only daylight can keep you safe.” I’m going out on a limb here and guessing that the “dangerous creatures” are vampires (or something like it).
The concept teaser for the film is kicking about the interwebs and it looks promising, featuring some nice visuals and effects. The use of Nin isn’t exactly original but a little Reznor is always...
