Cheesy but easy.

Who doesn't love Troy and his boys? They're a laugh and a half. They keep things interesting with their swamp lingo, courage and commitment to alligator season. I've watched every season and can't wait for more.

Overall ok
vartanianclare26 March 2024
I kind of like this show, some of the people are entertaining, like Troy. However, there are too many repetitions of the same phrases, like Friday the 13th being mentioned at least 40 times in one episode, which makes it annoying. Also in season 14, I don't know what happened to Ashley...her face doesn't move at all!!! Botox?!? If so, I am disappointed. She is a pretty girl who is a badass. She is also very young, she doesn't need botox. If not, I am sorry, Ashley. Also, some of the people are pretty annoying. I like Troy's sons. Jacob and his son are very adorable together. I also think the writing for the narrator can improve a bit, too many repetitions, like the phrases, and also make it a little educational, like telling facts about the swamp (like how many species of sea creatures live there or types of trees) instead of repeating the same thing over and over again (like 350 tags, which is kind of a mystery until someone says "additional tags"). Also, give a little background about the hunters. Troy has a female buddy (Pickle) now. Tell us about her: where she is from, how she knows about hunting, etc.

Good Show, but too many Chays
krowe3322 September 2023
A good show, albeit with quite a bit of overacting during the capture of the alligators. And the dramatic slow motion view of the hunters firing their gun (apparently at the water), showing water splashing back up at them during the 'supposed kill' is so overused it kinda ruins this show for me at times. I can understand why they show that rather than the kills though, after seeing all the snowflake comments here about animal cruelty. Why people who should obviously be watching shows like Desperate Housewives, or The Bachelor comment on a show like this just baffles me.

Over the years, the show has had it's ups and downs. For me the show peaked around season 7 and 8. I actually stopped watching it after season 9, but am now getting reaquainted with the show. I stopped watching because of the new cast member Ronnie, who was introduced in season 10. At the time, I simply couldn't stand him, but I have since learned where the mute button is on my tv remote. For example: Ronnie says he calls his hunting partner Ashley 'Dead Eye Jones'. When in fact, shortly after Ronnie explains why HE calls her that, Ashley states her husband actually gave her that nickname. And Ronnie constantly calling her 'baby' and 'chay chay' gets EXTREMELY annoying. So much so, I have a hard time watching the show. I keep hoping Ashley tells him to shut the F up.

Overall though, the show is worth a watch. Just use the mute button when Ronnie is on screen or delivering dialog.

More shooting scenes
blw-9735214 March 2020
First I do not care for ronnie on the show cause he is loud and in my opion dumb. Now on the shooting when they shoot them when they are on the lines it always shows a water splash. I know a lot of the gators are shot with there heads above the water so why always show a splash it's gotten to fake on this part. Other than th oil se two things I absolutely love the show and will watch it for as long as it is on. In my opion troy and his boys are the best hunters on the show. To the producers I would love to see ronnie taken off the show cant even stand his voice. But over all again it's a great program.

Stop Whining
spotts4-114 April 2022
Why are all the snowflakes moaning about this show?

Surely you understand the concept of culling?

The alligator has no natural enemy other than itself and man.

If they are left to multiply all year round there will be no other wildlife around.

They will eat everything fish, hogs.rats and anything else that lives in the swamp. And when everything is gone they'll eat cows , cats . Dogs and people.

This is why they can only hunt for 1 month every year.

Use your head.

Terrible
aprilrain-7347013 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show is just awful. Anyone with any empathy & intelligence will be disgusted once they see what goes on with this fake reality show. I am appalled the history channel would allow this type of garbage on their channel. What is the purpose of viewers watching some rednecks brutally killing alligators. These poor alligators are living reptiles, and do not deserve to be savagely killed like this on national television just for views. This kind of show definitely should never be on a family/educational channel. The history channel has went downhill. Not everyone gets their rocks off watching violence. Please take this off the air!

Swamp
brianbubster15 February 2016
I will not be watching Swamp People anymore after tonight's episode. I have watched 32 minutes of it and I am not impressed with the darker tone of the story line. I also do not appreciate the ripping away of Liz and her beautiful family and replacing them with unknowns that we will probably never get to know now. I always chomped at the bit when I heard the new season was about to start every year. Thanks history channel. Life doesn't hold enough disappointments. You took something that was a true work of art and threw it down the toilet. We love you Liz and family. You, Troy, Bruce, Dave and Jeromy, the Landry clan, Guist family, Joe and Tommy, Willie and family, the true Swamo People. I'm glad I don't have any money invested in any ventures these new producers are going to create. And by the way, I know good television and family shows. You tossed a winner to hopefully another network.

What was the History Channel thinking to allow this fake bad reality show!
cdeanroane11 February 2022
There was a time when the History Channel showed quality shows, sadly that is no longer the case. Seems History Channel thinks that bad fake reality show is better then a good show on actual history subjects is not their thing now. This show has people who seem to be southern version of Jersey Shore crew set in a swamp! It could best be us as a commercial for treatment of swamp crotch!

Horrible show for brainless people
hannalaasberg31 May 2023
The worst show I have ever seen. Avoid it. Avoid it at all costs.

The hunters there think that they are so brave (with all their weapons) and the alligators (who doesn't have weapons) are monsters who are invaders. But it's not true. Alligators live in their natural habitat. Humans are the invaders there. It's gross how arrogant the hunters are. And they kill animals they should not kill. Those who say that otherwise there would be too many alligators and bla bla, they clearly don't know how nature works. Nature doesn't need people to have balance. Nature always balances itself. But those hunters there just are bloodthirsty and like to kill.

The show is glorifying the killing and making fake heroes out of these low-intelligence killers. And the dialogue. Omg, you can't watch it if you have more than three brain cells. And to enjoy it, you need to have zero.

Willie with his son BIG (Little Willie) 😳
shirleyls-7761326 April 2022
I like Willie with his son (Little Willie). Willie has calmed down a lot since the earlier seasons. He's more patient with his son than his dad was with him. I love closed caption, but I can understand Willie more this season.

A Huge disgusting program that glorifies brutal animal violence
ethanthedinosaurkid11 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Who the hell wants to watch this and why do people like this garbage, all these people do is glorify brutal slaughter of alligators and they like to start making up excuses to kill alligators. nobody wants to see them doing their dirty work behind a camera and nobody wants to watch them just strangling and shooting gators in the head. these people don't have a life because all they do is kill and kill. like all rednecks and hillbillies, they think their hotshot celebrities doing god's work. to me their doing the devil's work. please take this show off the air.

Disgusting show of animal cruelty
juliefrein8 September 2021
I caught only 10 minutes of tonight's episode and that was 8 minutes too much. Celebrating the slaughter of an animal who has been on this earth millions of years is not my idea of good television. I have had the misfortune to cross paths with people whose ignorance is way over the top and it is not at all entertaining to see people who could take part in life by learning a trade that creates such as building homes for those who are homeless.

Nature was balanced before humans
bonubill25 December 2023
To say that killing gators is necessary to balance nature is ignorant.nature doesn't need humans to keep it in balance,in fact it does just fine by itself.if there are so many alligators that people have to kill a bunch every year or else then why are so many alligator farms booming? Seems like they would go bankrupt because of all the alligators in the wild.fact is that I don't see nearly as many alligators as I did when I was a kid.now you really have to look for one.anyway sensationalize it all you want. I noticed the last few episodes theyve added gator sound effects.the things didnt make a peep for 100 episodes now, suddenly they come up roaring like a bear? Huhuhuhu okay, whatever you say.

Stereotypes
brandonharrell-7425212 January 2024
I assure you people from Louisiana aren't all like these idiots. It's an embarrassing portrayal. It's a joke of a show all around. How this is still airing in twenty twenty four blows my mind. I wish I could end this review here, but I have to write six hundred characters. I feel like there isn't much more to say about this POS show. I wrote out the numbers to take up more space. Hopefully this is still easy to read. What's not easy is watching the Undertaker throw Mankind off the hell in a cell match back in nineteen ninety eight. Also did you know it turns out garter snakes ARE in fact actually venomous? Crazy right?
