Unfortunately, the final 3-parter is a clip show (part 3)
A cheerful Biff reveals to a despondent Rocky that Pinto Vortando has arrived and that the bogus charges will soon be dropped. In the court, the talkative space-bandito explains how Griff, DiMarco and Reno lied and broke a number of Ankaporian laws in order to set up Rocky for execution. Reno then cunningly cross-examines Ranger Clark, forcing him to describe what a reprobate pirate Pinto is (as illustrated by footage from 'The Cold Sun'), a strategy that backfires when Griff interrogates Bobby and the whole history about how Reno and DiMarco almost destroyed the entire solar system comes out (more 'The Cold Sun' footage). Inundated by contradictory clips the judge decides to ignore them all but, just as he is about to pass judgement, a Deus ex Machina occurs and the story comes to a dull and predictable end. With this whimper, the 'Rocky Jones, Space Ranger' series ended after 10 months and 15 stories (told over 39 episodes). While not as long lasting or influential as 'Captain Video' (1949), 'Space Patrol' (1950), or 'Tom Corbett, Space Cadet' (1950), Rocky and his crew's adventures in the universe of the 'United Planets of the Solar System' are fun examples of early 1950s TV-space opera and, having been filmed rather than kinesoscoped, have survived in quite good shape. All of the episodes are readily available on DVD or on-line (note: a number of the 3-part story-arcs have been fused into 'movies').
