The Asylum had great success with their surprise hit Sharknado and now they are looking to make waves with their next movie. What could it possibly be about? Sharks of course. It will be monster versus machine as Mega Shark returns to do battle with a government operated mechanical shark in Mega Shark Vs Mecha Shark. This will be the Mega Shark's third movie. After Sharknado and Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus, Syfy's latest TV film may signal a downhill turn for the frenzy of shark movies

I'm about to say something that's bound to ruffle a few feathers. I'm going to be dismissive of sharks. And I'm going to do it on the internet. Telling the internet that you're bored with sharks is madness. It's like telling the internet that you're bored with cat gifs, or ironic moustaches, or pretending that everything is either much more or much less sexist than it actually is. It's asking for trouble.
And yet, now that the Syfy channel is making a TV movie about an avalanche full of sharks, this must be said. To use the parlance of this publication, I'm worried we may be reaching "peak shark".
The film is called Avalanche Sharks. It doesn't have a broadcast date yet,...

"Okay, just to be clear here, our options are: die here, die in the tunnels, or die in the streets. That pretty much it?" — Hud, Cloverfield
The heyday of giant monster movies has long since passed into Hollywood history, but if the enthusiasm of the crowd in attendance at Legendary/Warner's (L/W) presentation for Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim at this past weekend's WonderCon convention in Anaheim is any indication, the sci-fi sub-genre could be poised for a comeback. L/W is so confident that audiences are ready to embrace giant monsters that they've already ordered up a sequel, and Frank Darabont (The Mist, The Walking Dead) is working on a Godzilla update that he promises will take the "camp" out of the Japanese icon and deliver a Godzilla that is a "terrifying force of nature."

It was bombed in Team America and flooded completely in Mega Shark Vs Crocosaurus, yet for some reason the small country of Panama still loves the movies. Now it's offering filmmakers 15% cash rebates if they choose to shoot there.
The offer is the result of a new law which took Panama's politicians eight years to negotiate. It couldn't come at a better time - after a rough ride during the global recession the country has just had its credit rating renewed, giving it the stability it needs to pursue international investment. It already offers tax advantages to filmmakers and is developing a National Film Fund so that some of the benefits of foreign investment can be passed to local production companies.
Panama's bid still lags behind that of some other countries in the region but its varied locations and ease of access from Los Angeles may tip the balance in its.

Who isn't a fan of such greats as "Transmorphers" and "Snakes on a Train"? That is the kind of quality cinema that "The Asylum" continues to pump out and they have just announced their latest money making garuntee titled, "Mega Shark vs Mecha Shark." What's not to love, right? After battling its way through "Mega shark vs Giant Octopus" in 2009 and "Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus" in 2010, Mega Shark returns to take on Mecha Shark, which is a top-sec…...

The Asylum, the company behind such awful rip-offs as "Transmorphers" and "Snakes on a Train," is continuing its "Mega Shark" franchise by moving forward with a third installment, called Mega Shark vs Mecha Shark. After battling its way through "Mega shark vs Giant Octopus" in 2009 and "Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus" in 2010, Mega Shark returns to take on Mecha Shark, which is a top-secret robotic government creation meant to destroy the monster. As always, the fierce battle will somehow threaten the planet. "The fan response to the Mega Shark franchise has been rabid," said The Asylum. "In addition to a very persuasive online petition, we found that Mega Shark has taken on a life of her own. We've received photos of Mega Shark cakes, toys and games on a near-daily basis, and we thought it was high time she did battle with an iconic Mecha monster."...

Adaptations of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ novels haven’t fared well in the past, so can Andrew Stanton’s John Carter break the cycle? Terence finds out...
This Friday, one of science fiction and fantasy writer Edgar Rice Burroughs' most popular characters is finally making his big screen debut. And it’s not that yelling guy in the loin cloth who hangs out with apes. No, the movie is about Burroughs' other most popular character, John Carter of Mars.
Primarily known as the creator of Tarzan of the Apes, Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950) wrote an estimated 70 novels featuring a wide array of different characters and their stories. Most of his books are still in print today (there are 539 Burroughs titles available from the Kindle store alone). 62 years after his death, Burroughs continues to be one of the genre's most venerated old-school pulp adventure writers.

What happened to low standards? John Patterson wishes Hollywood would make B-movies the way they were meant to be made – badly
Nothing makes me happier than stumbling upon a hitherto undetected genre of movies. Not like the western, screwball comedy or film noir – these genres are different. For instance, I believe you can count the entire career of Harry Dean Stanton, or Robert Ryan, as a coherent genre unto itself, built around an actor's exquisite taste in roles. A few years ago there appeared a facetious book of academic essays about Alan Smithee – the catch-all DGA pseudonym under which movies are released if their real directors have removed their names in shame or horror – as if the alias were a directorial signature as recognisable as Hitchcock's or John Ford's. Me? Well, I just happened upon the rich and glorious inheritance of the "Versus" movie.
Sadly, this discovery of my...

We warned you it was coming, now behold the cheesy goodness (?) that is the UK trailer for Mega Shark Vs Crocosaurus. Synopsis: In the Atlantic Ocean, the unsuspecting battleship USS Gibson is viciously attacked and destroyed the beast. The sole survivor is Lt.Terry McCormick (Jaleel White), a man experimenting with a sonic shark-repelling device. Meanwhile deep in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigel Putnam, an English hunter (Gary Stretch – Dead Man’s Shoes / Alexander) successfully captures a giant crocodile out to devour him whole. After loading the highly sedated crocodile on to a cargo ship, with its eggs intact, the ship is suddenly attacked by the vicious Mega Shark, waking the crocodile from its sleep and unleashing hell as the terrifying ancient beasts clash. Together McCormick and Putnam joined by Special Agent Hutchinson (Sarah Lieving) must pool their resources to save the world from the gigantic beasts and their killer offspring.

A bit earnest. A bit cocky. Fully confident. Brandon Slagle (Vivid, 15 Till Midnight, Cut, Plasterhead) is the brooding bad boy of independent horror and science fiction films who was just recently deemed one of the potential breakout genre stars in the making on our site. And we fully stand behind that statement. Brandon Slagle's undeniable screen presence is fully evident in just about everything he has done. So what is it, that is making him stand out now over years past? Well, you see, with Brandon Slagle the earnestness, the confidence, the appreciation for science fiction and horror, the human aspect in universal truths and / or emotions & the ability to relate that to audiences, it's all finally coming together with his work. It's all finally gelling. You finally get a sense of who is and what is he all about. His work finally feels distinctive and stands out. Three...
