The comic book cover fan art shown at the end of the episode is an homage to the classic cover of DC's Adventure Comics #247 from 1958, featuring the first appearance of the Legion of Super-Heroes. In the parody cover by Clint Desmarais, Bill stands in for Superboy and is being rejected for membership in the Legion of Super-Toons by Toony, Mr. Quizzer, and Goldie Fisher (taking the place of Cosmic Boy, Lightning Boy, and Saturn Girl, respectively).
While Bill wears the playtime wig, he seems to act younger than his years. Jenn Zee hears him using what she recognizes as youthful slang terms (like "wig" and "drip") and the Aliennabber investigators catch him showing off his toy horse named Radish, watching cartoons, eating dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets, and calling himself "a kid at heart". When the alien hunters suspect Bill is aging backwards ("Benjamin Button-ing") due to his apparent hair regrowth and "interest in juvenile amusement", they interview Bill's Mom, who tells them stories of Bill's childhood, when he'd stay up late to watch Tom Snyder's talk show (Tomorrow Coast to Coast (1973)), among other suspiciously grown-up behavior.
Jenn Zee explains "hip Gen Z slang" terms, such as "snacc" (defined on-screen as either "someone who is incredibly attractive" or "Bill in a wig"), "wig" ("when something totally blows your mind"), and "dripping" ("when, like, you have like a lot of 'Swag' or like 'style'").
Bill and Toony begin the episode with Star Trek (1966)-style sci-fi roleplay, with Bill playing a space adventurer and Toony as a laser-breathing alien monster. After their playtime cuts into the start of the show, Bill discovers that Toony used permanent glue to fix the dark playtime wig onto Bill's bald head.
The Aliennabbers (Poindexter and Rosy) are paranormal investigator-types who host a documentary show about "the world of the weird and spooky"/"the unexplained and paranormal" called "What in the What Now?!" and use various instruments to run tests on suspected aliens and paranormal phenomena (like Bill). With their jumpsuits and X'd-out alien logo patch, the Aliennabber duo is like a cross between the Ghost Hunters (2004) team and the Ghostbusters.
