To Call it Flawed is to Overrate It.

At the time I viewed this movie there were only two reviews - a 10 and a 1. That in itself intrigued me. I approached with an open mind, but the one star review is correct. This is an Egyptian action-soap opera meant to appeal to lowbrow audiences of jingoistic Arab anti-Zionists, or you might simply say to Jew-haters. It fails in terms of film-making, story-telling, characters, music, photography and humanity. A high schooler should be able to see this for what it is. Bad, very bad.
Tital fantasy

Everything about the movie is fantastical according to Egyptian imagination. Nothing is truthful, just lots of Israelis slaughtered and police cars destroyed. Total farce. Difficult to believe that anyone would even think that anything like this was a remote possibility.
So bad it good (almost!).

Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't quite sure if I was watching a comedy or a drama.
The hilarious soft-focus opening of the wife with her husband on a boat idyllically waxing lyrical about the beauty of Egypt before being kidnapped and waking up - horror of horrors in TEL AVIV!!!!! And we know it's Israel by the camera zoom on the Israeli flag with dramatic music in tow.
When her husband placed a Kippah on his head, he turned into the ultimate baddie. The prospect of her son undergoing a Bar Mitzvah was the final degradation!
I have to admit to skipping many of the scenes, they were too awful to actually watch. The denouement the fight between good (Egyptian) and evil (Israeli) came straight out of the stable of Mel Brooks or a 1920's melodrama.
Beyond awful!

Average Movie

This is neither a great movie nor a bad movie. It's just about average. I was surprise by either 10 Star or 1 Star reviews and that prompted me to watch it. I think both 10 Star & 1 Star reviews are biased. 10 Star reviews are probably by Pro-Arab/Palestine viewers and 1 Star reviews are probably by Jewish Pro-Israel viewers and I am none of them. This movie was made in 2009 and based on that photography and sound quality is about average. Acting is mediocre but not terrible. Movie suffers from bad story, the ending is very predictable. This movie is kind of similar to Sally Field movie "Not Without My Daughter" with some action sequences thrown in. All in all, one time watch movie.
