Giving 7 stars because of Mark's storyline

Warning: Spoilers
Like I said on other reviews, I'm not here for Wacky Jackie. I love it when they have her acting like she has sense instead of a person wondering what's wrong with her.

So let's get to Mark's storyline. He's under a crazy amount of stress in his new school and he's been using his boyfriend's medicine in order to study. Side effects he's experiencing include not wanting to eat and he's not sleeping. Darlene was worried he was suffering from an eating disorder because he turned down cake that was bought to celebrate him making the Dean's List. The way the series does the titles is automatic spoiler material. It's like the titles are basically crib notes. "Here's what happened in the episode so you don't even have to watch it!"

I liked the scene of Darlene and Dan talking about Mark's struggles. Although I want to subtract a point anytime this series undoes stuff the original series talked about. Darlene did experiment with drugs when she was at writing school. She never handed over her weed to Dan or Roseanne when she was growing up. Roseanne was worried that Darlene was on drugs when she had her depression storyline and Darlene denied she was on drugs. Maybe this series need to hire fans that can help them keep the older stuff straight from the new stuff? You gotta admit that Becky, Darlene and DJ were all pretty straight laced on the original series. Becky got drunk that one time with Dana. Darlene did experiment with drugs at the writing school and she smoked cigarettes in that one episode. I feel like the original series ended before they could dive into DJ having a dark storyline about drinking, drugs, etc.

Anyway, Darlene's ready to pull Mark from the school and send him back to public school. We'll see how that goes. This series doesn't do such a hot job with continuity. Next week might have Mark still in the magnet school.

I think I like Mark the best out of all the kids on the series. And I refer back to the previous episode where I was talking about the Beverly Rose switch. It's also a bad time doing that when you literally have another child actress that's barely being used. Mary's used so rarely that I still don't know if I like the character or not. And that's pretty bad/sad for a series that's in its 4th season. They might as well have a storyline where DJ, Geena and Mary move away because they're all pretty much missing in action.

Mark is beyond annoying and this story felt ridiculous, yet it also felt like a throwback to the very special episodes of sitcoms in the 80's and 90's, so in that regard I appreciated it.

Loved Mark's storyline. Not just because I'm in it. It's always fun when you get a struggling teenager in a series. I love the synergy between grandpa (John Goodman) and grand daughter also. Keep it up.

Horrible episode

Warning: Spoilers
Not funny, They don't even get the point they're trying to make across. Problems, drama, trash. Not funny. Poor writing and acting. Why can't they just be funny? I can't believe this show remains on the air. It's not even believable that the kid was hooked on "drugs".
