Hootie & the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker says his February drug offense “shocked” him, and that he thinks the ordeal was the result of someone “trying to make an example” out of him.
“I’m handling it with my lawyers, and paying the price, and we’ll move on with our lives,” Rucker told People.
In early February, Rucker was arrested in Tennessee on two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of a violation of the state’s vehicle registration law. The singer said this week the arrest warrant “shocked me,” and added the charges were in relation to a 2023 incident during which he was pulled over and released without charges.
“It was so awesome,” Rucker said. “I mean, I looked back at that and I was like, ‘I got stopped by a police officer and I had a little bit of pot, and...

When Darius Rucker discovered that a warrant was issued for his arrest in December 2023, he was caught off guard. The musician was taken into custody in February 2024 on charges of simple possession, casual exchange, and violation of registration law — one year after he was pulled over by police in Williamson County, Tennessee, for expired tags. “It shocked me,” Rucker told People in his first interview about the incident.

This week, the most-watched YouTube video in Korea is by the girl group aespa (에스파) with their hit song ‘Supernova.’ This track has quickly become a sensation in Korea and, like much of K-pop, is poised to take the rest of the world by storm.
Aespa consists of four members: two Koreans, one Japanese, and one Chinese. Since their debut in 2019, they’ve been enchanting us with their music. The group’s name, “aespa,” is a combination of “æ,” which stands for “Avatar X Experience,” and the English word “aspect,” representing a duality. The name reflects their unique concept of meeting avatars and experiencing a new world.
Earlier this year in April, aespa pre-released the single “Illusion,” and they will be dropping their second mini-album titled “Girls” in June, alongside their second album “Life’s Too Short.” Additionally, aespa has joined the ranks of Warner Records, becoming the first K-pop group signed by the American label.

Stephen Merchant has revealed he has no plans for further episodes of The Outlaws after the incoming series three: more details here.
Stephen Merchant took the British comedy scene by storm in 2001 when he wrote and directed The Office with Ricky Gervais. Since then, they have collaborated on Extras, Life’s Too Short, An Idiot Abroad and feature film Cemetery Junction. He went on to forge a successful solo career, from stand up tour Hello Ladies and the American sitcom of the same name to his successful pivot into hour long crime comedy with The Outlaws, which returns for its third series next week.
Created by Merchant and Elgin James, the show follows a disparate group of people assigned to community service for various reasons which gradually reveal themselves.

There are not a lot of actors in Hollywood whose presence itself on-screen exudes badassery. Liam Neeson has carved a unique niche for himself in the film industry, where directors and producers look up to him for serious roles. From Schindler’s List to Batman Begins, the actor has carefully picked feathers for his cap that are a testament to his effervescent acting abilities.
However, he often goes offbeat and picks up projects that show off a different side to his demanding presence on the silver screen, like he is about to do in his upcoming The Naked Gun Reboot.

It may seem sacrilegious to reboot The Naked Gun, but if anyone can fill the brilliantly deadpan shoes of Leslie Nielsen, it will be Liam Neeson. The actor has been attached to the reboot for a few years, but the project finally seems to be moving forward, with production expected to kick off later this year.
While speaking with THR, Liam Neeson was asked why he wanted to tackle a flat-out comedy such as The Naked Gun.
“It’s funny because right before Christmas, my sons and I were looking through the Academy screeners and trying to find something silly, some silly, stupid movie that we could giggle at,” Neeson explained. “There was none, of course, as they were all very heavy and international. I mean, brilliant movies but all very heavy. When Seth MacFarlane approached me about it — this was about two years ago, now — I thought, yeah, I...

Leslie Nielsen famously flipped his career 180 degrees when he started working with the Zuckers — David and Jerry — on the 1980 comedy Airplane! Nielsen was a seasoned dramatic actor who took his serious demeanor and used it to deliver the silliest of lines in a dry manner, resulting in some of the greatest comedy performances. Nielsen was able to become a leading man late in his career in The Naked Gun series, which would then spin him off into more leading roles in similar comedies, which would not necessarily be made by the Zuckers.
Enter Liam Neeson. The thespian has already reinvented himself when the former dramatic actor starred in 2008’s Taken, which showed that he could use his tall stature in the action genre. Neeson’s acting route would eventually land him in some comedy roles, including a self-parody guest spot on Life’s Too Short and working with Seth MacFarlane on...

Darius Rucker has turned the soundtrack of his life into a book. The country musician has announced his first memoir, Life’s Too Short, set for release on May 28, structured around 23 songs that have been transformative during his career.
“This book is the story of my life as told through 23 songs that took me away, soaring, starting at ground level, living in a poor but happy home, never wanting for much more, enjoying what I had, even when times got tough, because I had my escape, my refuge, my music,” Rucker said in a statement.

You may not know who Warwick Davis is, but there’s a strong chance you’ve seen at least one of his movies. He’s starred in some of the biggest movie franchises of all time. And he’s been in some B-movie dreck. And he’s been the star of a recent streaming reboot. In each case, his career mirrors the various tiers of content, and the inherent problems for each of them in the streaming landscape.
Tier 1: 4-Star IP on One Platform
Davis’ breakout role was as the lovable Ewok Wicket in 1983’s “Return of the Jedi.” As part of the Star Wars franchise, the movie remains safely locked within the gates of Disney+. Although the film does air on broadcast TV from time to time, we expect it will never appear on another streaming platform.
Most streaming platforms have at least a handful of standout titles they will likely never share.

Life is full of surprises, curveballs, and moments of serendipity. Fate may play a part in the lives of the Jedi in the "Star Wars" galaxy, but in the real world, it may have intervened in the life of an actor who played a key role in the Rebellion. Actor Warwick Davis, now famous for playing the affable Ewok Wicket in 1983's "Return of the Jedi," has become a quintessential part of George Lucas' sci-fi fantasy empire. As a beacon for the franchise, Davis is arguably the most beloved performer outside of the holy trinity of Luke, Leia, and Han. Always a staple at the fan convention Star Wars Celebration, it's nearly impossible to picture an alternate reality in which Davis was never a part of the vast canon of "Star Wars."
Although it seems meant to be now, Davis could easily have missed his chance to co-star in "Return of the Jedi,...

The name’s Drebin. Detective Frank Drebin of Police Squad. The beloved Leslie Nielsen comedy had recently been given the greenlight for a reboot at Paramount with Liam Neeson stepping in the lead role. Once planned to be a Seth MacFarlane movie, he stays on a producer, and Akiva Schaffer steps in as writer and director of the comedy. Neeson has now said that the production hopes to move forward with shooting to take place this summer, according to Collider.

One of the main characters on the great FX comedy Reservation Dogs is named Elora Danan, after the baby from the Eighties fantasy film Willow. It’s a running gag that everyone on the reservation has not only heard of the movie, but has strong opinions about it. Back in 1988, Willow — in which aspiring sorcerer Willow (Warwick Davis) and mercenary Madmartigan (Val Kilmer) have to protect Elora Danan after a prophecy declares she will bring about the end of an evil queen’s reign — was a modest box office success.

In the new Disney+ series "Willow," time has passed and characters from the original film, Madmartigan (Val Kilmer) and Sorsha (Joanne Whalley), have taken over the kingdom and had a pair of children. These twins, Airk (Dempsey Bryk) and Kit (Ruby Cruz), are perfect amalgamations of their parents' personalities and looks, and it is incumbent on them to save the world as their parents once did.

Soon, the world will be treated to yet another Lucasfilm production in the form of the "Willow" TV series. The Disney+ show will debut on November 30, much to the delight of fantasy fans around the world who've waited patiently since the release of the 1988 movie to see more of Warwick Davis' Willow Ufgood.
Though that original effort failed to meet George Lucas' lofty box office ambitions, there soon developed a devoted cult following for "Willow" in the decades since its release. Now Disney and Lucasfilm have once again flipped through their folder of IP and are hoping that giving this particular one the prestige TV treatment will prove to be the magic touch Willow and his band of enchanted heroes need.

The girls of Aespa are our new favorite villain-fighting video game characters. On Friday, the K-pop group celebrated the release of their second mini-album, Girls, by dropping the action-packed video for their title track.
Amid their signature choreography, the video sees the group — comprising Winter, Giselle, Karina, and Ningning — going up an elevator before transforming into characters going on different levels as each member defeats a different set of characters.
The video matches the theme of their mini-album’s cover art, which sees the girls as video game characters with superpowers.

Ricky Gervais has confirmed that production has wrapped on the third season of his Netflix series “After Life,” following a seven-week shoot.
The actor and writer tweeted “Day 35 on #AfterLife3 And that’s a wrap” alongside an emoji of two champagne glasses clinking. He also included a photograph of himself walking through a bucolic forest landscape with his canine companion Brandy (played by a female German Shepherd called Anti.)
The actor was spotted filming last week in a village in Hertfordshire, according to a local newspaper. He has also shared near daily updates from the shoot on Twitter over the past two months.
Production of “After Life” was rocked last week when sexual misconduct allegations emerged against Charlie Hanson, the show’s producer. Netflix removed the executive — a long-time collaborator of Gervais’ who has produced a number of his series and movies — from the production. He is accused of sexual misconduct by 11 women.

Ricky Gervais issued a statement Saturday, commenting on the “immediate removal” of Netflix’s “After Life” producer Charlie Hanson following accusations made by several women of predatory behavior.
“I am shocked and appalled to learn of the historical allegations made by a number of women against Charlie Hanson. The decision was made to immediately remove him from production and I am confident the matter is being handled thoroughly,” Gervais said.
Gervais’ long-time collaborator was the subject of an anonymous email sent to Netflix and BAFTA, detailing a history of sexual misconduct. Although his name was initially withheld, the U.K. outlet The Times revealed it was Hanson, and it reported that 11 women complained about the producer’s behavior.
Hanson has since been removed from “After Life” and suspended by BAFTA.

Ricky Gervais has a cold. He just flew home to England after a stint in the U.S., and he's jetlagged. Nevertheless, he worked a full day, putting the final mix on his upcoming movie David Brent: Life on the Road, which is due at the end of the week. "It couldn't be a worse time, because my ears from the flight are bad, and all I had to do today was listen to the minutiae of the movie," he says in the sort of remarkably dry tone that, unique to Gervais,...

British writer/producer/actor Stephen Merchant is best known for creating comedies like The Office, Life's Too Short, and HBO's underrated gem Hello Ladies, but now he's secured his highest-profile acting job yet: he'll appear opposite Hugh Jackman in the upcoming superhero film Wolverine 3.
This will be his biggest film credit by far. Thus far in his career, he's had roles in movies like Hot Fuzz, Burke & Hare, and Hall Pass, so a superhero film is definitely going to open him up to a wider audience who's probably unfamiliar with his work (as least as an actor). There's no word yet about who exactly he'll be playing, but as this Instagram video reveals, he's buzzed his hair for the role:
An actor prepares. #Wolverine3

At this point, the official plot specifics of Wolverine 3 are still being kept under lock and key.

Hollywood has officially been put on blast as producers for the 73rd Golden Globe Awards announced Monday that Ricky Gervais will return as the ceremony's host after a three-year reprieve for celebrities. The comedian was known for doling out scathing burns during his opening monologues when he hosted the event from 2010 to 2012. Gervais' appearance at the 72nd annual event was also among the highlights from that ceremony. The 73rd Golden Globes will air January 10th on NBC.

Among the many Star Wars vets returning for The Force Awakens is Warwick Davis, who played Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi and multiple characters in The Phantom Menace. You may also know him as the star of Willow, the Leprechaun franchise and the show Life's Too Short. He's also in all of the Harry Potter movies plus Labyrinth, Ray and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. In addition to the new Star Wars movie(s), Davis will soon be seen as the lead character in an indie comedy called ShortFellas. That is, if it can find the funds to be made. The movie has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to raise $870,610 for the project, which will be written and directed...

Caitlyn Jenner has a sense of humor about herself. While many websites exploded in outrage when Halloween costumes inspired by the reality star's Vanity Fair cover started popping up on various retail outlets, Jenner herself isn't offended in the least. "I'm in on the joke. No, I don't think it's offensive at all," she says in a new interview with Matt Lauer. "I know the community does, and they've gotten a lot of criticism for doing it. I think it's great." One online petition against one particular version of the costume said that it "reduces that person and community to a stereotype for privileged people to abuse," adding that the get-up will be used to "make fun of [Caitlyn] and our community." While Jenner says the idea of the costume doesn't bother her, the actual construction of some of the looks does. "To be honest with you, I think it's great...

She’s definitely experienced her fair share of ups and downs, and Anne Hathaway is sitting pretty on the front page of the September 2015 issue InStyle magazine.
In her interview, the “Dark Knight Rises” dame explains that while she’s happy as can be these days, it hasn’t always been so easy- “There was a stretch of my life when I wasn't comfortable being myself. I didn't think I was good enough. So I pretended to be someone I wasn't. I'm so over that now. I just try to be my best self all the time, with some notable late-night lapses.”
Anne also noted, “In the past few years I've been working on changing the script inside my head. Life's too short to be anyone but yourself. Let the chips fall where they may.”...

Paul Feig chats to us about Spy, working with female comedy stars, and the genius of Jason Statham...
Paul Feig will always, always, always have a special place in our heart for creating the immortal TV series Freaks & Geeks. Now, however, he's given Jason Statham his straight comedy debut in Spy, which arrives in cinemas this coming Friday.
Ahead of the film's release, he spared us some time for a chat. It didn't take long for Statham's name to crop up either...
I was watching Tom Hanks' That Thing You Do the other day, oddly enough. It's you in that, isn't it?
[Laughs] Yes! The DJ!
I finally watched the extended cut. Have you seen that version?
No, no!
I've always liked the movie. And Tom Hanks, of course, directed the film, having come from an acting background like yourself. What kind of tips do you pick up from someone like him?...

'Vanderpump Rules' is back for another season of explosive drama!
Vanderpump Rules is back for season three and Jax Taylor promises more jaw-dropping moments (and a brand new scar to go with it!)
Last season ended with quite a bang (and a punch!) after it was revealed the Jax and Kristen Doute slept together after months of denial. While it seemed like the group would be divided for good this time – Jax says everyone is getting back to a good place.
"Life's too short to hold grudges," Jax said of his friendship with Tom Sandoval. "We're still trying to mend our relationships. Obviously, things aren't back to 100 percent, but it's going in a good direction."

Warwick Davis's strategy of basically daring J.J. Abrams to refuse him has apparently worked out: He's going to have a brief role in Star Wars: Episode VII after all. Davis played Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi and had various roles in Phantom Menace; thinking out loud to IGN last year, Davis mused that in the new film, he could play a bad guy or even a Jedi, adding that "a villain with a lightsaber is the ultimate goal, if that's not asking too much." He just wants people to see his face! Davis cautioned that he wasn't "dying to get back inside an Ewok suit," but after Life's Too Short, he'd probably still prefer it to a frog suit.

Ricky Gervais has confirmed that The Office's David Brent will be heading to the big screen with his own movie, Life on the Road.
So as we anticipate what Brent has been up to since the end of the BBC hit comedy, here's what the cast have done since:
Ricky Gervais
Ricky Gervais played the lead role as David Brent - the embarrassing, toe-curling and cringeworthy boss of company Wernham Hogg, devoid of self-awareness but poised with an unwavering love for the paper merchants he manages.
Gervais went on to create comedy Extras with Stephen Merchant, which was co-produced by the BBC and HBO and aired between 2005 and 2007. Gervais played ambitious actor Andy Millman, afflicted with a useless agent played by Merchant. Guest stars have included Patrick Stewart, Samuel L Jackson, Ben Stiller and Kate Winslet.
In 2009, Gervais starred in, wrote and directed his feature comedy debut The Invention of Lying.

A WWE and Lionsgate panel was present at Comic-Con last night touting their upcoming projects 'See No Evil 2' and their 'Leprechaun' franchise reboot 'Leprechaun Origins'. The project from director Zach Lipovsky will be unleashed onto VOD from 26 August and will see a DVD and Blu-ray release just over a month later. WWE's Hornswoggle (Dylan Postl) has snared the iconic little guy role from Warwick Davis ('Life's Too Short') and from this new first look teaser at the green bastard we can certainly see that he's been given an even more sinister makeover for his latest outing. Brendan Fletcher, Teach Grant, Andrew Dunbar, Stephanie Bennett, Bruce Blain and Adam Boys also star. Check out the new teaser below....

Warwick Davis ('Life's Too Short'), whom was fitted out in the fetching green attire for 6 of the previous installments, has been looked over this time around in favour of WWE's own Hornswoggle Dylan Postl. Our starting point though is when we're bundled into a room with a bunch of other wide-eyed visitors from around Europe. Turns out the room belongs to one of the stars of the film, Ricky Gervais. And turns out too that he's wearing a lemur costume,...

There are some spoilers - but not massive ones - for Disney's Frozen here, as we chat to directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee....
A weird start to an interview, this one. I was sat patiently outside the door of a posh London hotel, when a man wheeled a trolley of warm, nice-smelling food into the toilet. I've heard that these posh hotels cloud some bizarre behaviour, but canapes on the bidet was a new one on me.
Anyway: Frozen.
We ran a non-spoilery interview with directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck on the film's release day in the UK. But the pair also granted us a bit of extra time to chat in more detail about the film. What follows, then, is the kind of interview that it's best not to read until you've seen the film. Right from question one, in fact.

Warwick Davis has reportedly signed up to host a new edition of Celebrity Squares.
The Life's Too Short actor is said to have agreed a deal to host a revamped version of the classic game show on ITV, according to The Sun.
If he were to join the project, it will be Davis's first ever presenting role, and will see the return of the series after over 15 years.
Celebrity Squares is based on the American comedy game show Hollywood Squares, and originally ran from 1975 to 1979 with Bob Monkhouse as host.
Monkhouse returned to front a new series from 1993 to 1996.
The game features nine celebrities sitting in boxes around a giant board, and is based around the game of noughts and crosses.
A pilot will reportedly be recorded later this month, with a full series arriving on ITV next year if it proves successful.

It's not hard to understand why HBO would want to be in business with Stephen Merchant. The co-creator of "The Office," "Extras" and "Life's Too Short" with Ricky Gervais (the latter two shows aired on HBO), Merchant has an agile comic mind and is an underrated performer.
Gervais has of late branched out into a few projects on his own (most recently "Derek," which just came to the United States on Netflix). Merchant follows suit with his first solo outing, "Hello Ladies," which he created and stars in. You can see the DNA of his past shows in it, but the execution comes up short.
Merchant plays Stuart, a web designer in Los Angeles who is the exception to the rule that British accents automatically make a guy sexy. He's forever on the prowl, forever getting shot down. He's either tremendously optimistic or delusional, though, because he never adjusts his approach.
