Kate Beckett : Okay, Magoo, let's see that bottle.
Jeffrey McGuigan : Seriously? You're just gonna walk into my crib and start bossing me around?
Richard Castle : Well, I don't see it here. You didn't happen to... break the bottle over... something?
Jeffrey McGuigan : Hey, what is this about? You know, I may have dropped out of Cornell when my company went *public*, but I still know my rights.
Kate Beckett : That bottle that you purchased might have been used to commit murder. So unless you wanna learn your Miranda rights, you better quit stalling and show us where it is.
Jeffrey McGuigan : Yeah, okay, cool. I'm not stalling.
Kate Beckett : Great.
Jeffrey McGuigan : Yeah.
[Jeffrey goes to retrieve the bottle from the trash bin]
Richard Castle : You were throwing it out?
Jeffrey McGuigan : It's in the blue bucket. I recycle.
[Jeffrey hands over the bottle; Castle takes it gingerly in a handkerchief]
Kate Beckett : Well, it's still *intact*... Unless a sliver of glass came out when it hit.
Jeffrey McGuigan : Man, nobody hit anybody.
Richard Castle : Yes, well, keep mixing root beer with fine Scotch, that may change.

[seeing Alexis and her goth friend Gracie leaving the precinct]
Kate Beckett : Wow. I remember that phase. That's about when I got my tattoo.
Richard Castle : You got... a tattoo? Wh, uh... Where?
-
Richard Castle : The East River? A GA chip? Relapsed gambler gets in too deep with his bookie, ends up floating in the drink.
Kate Beckett : Are you kidding me? You just went from Gambler's Anonymous to mob hit?
Richard Castle : This is the most celebrated body depository this side of the Jersey Wetlands. Mark my words, this guy has mob ties. Case closed!
[Castle turns to leave, high fiving a patrol cop; cut to the precinct]
Javier Esposito : [handing over Donnie's file] No mob ties.
Richard Castle : Are you sure?
[Esposito stares daggers at him]
Richard Castle : Good work.
-
Lanie Parish : Same glass, but the shard in Donny's head is way too big to have come from this bottle.
Richard Castle : Which means it can't be the only remaining bottle in the world.
Kate Beckett : Clearly... not.
Richard Castle : [swabbing the bottle with a Q-tip and inhaling the aroma] Which means I still have a shot at getting a taste.
Kate Beckett : Which means that Donny came across a second bottle.
Richard Castle : Yeah, upside his head.
-
Kate Beckett : There's got to be 100 bottles of Scotch on these walls.
Richard Castle : Take one down and pass it around.
-
[offering Castle one of the old bottles of Scotch that were found]
Captain Roy Montgomery : This is early Christmas, baby!
Richard Castle : [choking up] I was not expecting this.
Javier Esposito : Are you crying?
Richard Castle : Yes. I don't know what to say.
Kate Beckett : Try, "Let me get my checkbook."
Richard Castle : Yes. Of course, of course. But I... I will only accept this if you all share it with me.
Captain Roy Montgomery : [holding up a glass] Twist my arm.
Richard Castle : No, not here. Um... At the Old Haunt. We will toast to Donny with his family.
Kevin Ryan : Yeah, wh-wh-what ab... what about that place? What happens to The Old Haunt?
Javier Esposito : It's gonna go back to the bank. Which means that TJ McChucklenuts is gonna get another shot at it.
Richard Castle : Oh, I wouldn't worry about The Old Haunt.
Kate Beckett : You bought it, didn't you?

[last lines]
Richard Castle : So, you joining us?
Kate Beckett : You know, I'd love to. It's late and I've got a lot of paperwork.
Richard Castle : [checking his watch] It's nine o'clock on a Saturday.
Javier Esposito : [checking his own] It's 9:15, actually.
Richard Castle : [singing] The regular crowd shuffles in.
Kevin Ryan : [joining in] There's an old man sitting next to me.
Javier Esposito , Captain Roy Montgomery : [joining in, as well] Making love to his tonic and gin.
[they all look at Beckett expectantly]
Kate Beckett : [giving in] He said "Son, can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes."
Richard Castle , Kate Beckett , Javier Esposito , Kevin Ryan , Captain Roy Montgomery : [leaving together] But it's sad and it's sweet, and I knew it complete, when I wore a younger man's clothes. Sing us a song, you're the piano man. Sing us a song tonight. Well, we're all in the mood for a melody...
-
Richard Castle : Maybe somebody marched Donny at gunpoint down to the river and killed him there.
Kate Beckett : If the killer had a gun, why would he use a bottle?
Kate Beckett : Don't ruin my story with your logic.
-
Javier Esposito : According to his fingerprints, his name is Donald Hayes, Navy veteran, served in Desert Storm, and he's been a dock worker since '94.
Kevin Ryan : Somehow still employed as one. Our victim, *Donny* Hayes, currently clocked in and on duty at the East Side docks.
Richard Castle : Which either means he's an incredibly dedicated zombie...
Kate Beckett : Or he's a suspect in our murder.
