The film has some amazing locations and scenery and was very well paced. The fight and actions scenes were excellent with some decent gore thrown in where necessary. My only nit pick was I felt it could have been a little longer in duration.

It doesn't get carried and is pretty believable until the final chase scene. Along the way, we are treated with some nice woods, of which is nicely filmed.

The cast are able to create fairly complex characters, Miguel D. Dias is back as the enemy leader, this guy always gets the job done, even his voice is menacing, good character.

But the best is the staging of the chases, the staging of the fights, and the spectacular stunt work.

The Hunted is an action/chase film in the tradition of First Blood, but it doesn't have the firepower of that film (to its benefit, the emphasis here is on brutal hand-to-hand combat).

A violent manhunt like never before.

As a critic, I am speaking about the film's facets, as a movie-goer, I want the story to stand out and speak for itself. If there is the point where I meet my expectations, this film does that job.

Lawson has a lot of skills but the enemies don´t know that, that´s why they become his prey.

He is not the hunted, he is hunting them, it makes us be on his side, as he tries to reach the extraction point.

He´s not an invincible soldier, he fractures his leg, and as to overcome the pain of that, as he kills the soldiers in the woods, a very special film filled with action, suspense and most of all very silent, cause our hero doesn´t talk at all, his action talk for him.

A great movie from director Rui Constantino that elevates him to a status of the king of b-movies.

Violent and deadly...

The quality of the cinematography, solid acting and good action is what makes this such a great film.

The Hunted is a unique action movie that deserves your time. Its pacing is slow and methodical, purposefully scripted as such to match the film's title no doubt. The slow burn of the story and the film's execution is almost reminiscent of a 70s film before massive explosions.

A very different movie from this director that brings something new to the table.

The soundtrack is amazing and mesmerizing, and haunts the forest as our lead man hunts all of the mercs down, in the most vicious ways, with traps just like in nam.

The Hunted is a unique action movie that deserves your time.

The Hunted is clearly inspired by the famous short story, "The Most Dangerous Game." However, Hunted manages to flip "The Most Dangerous Game" on its axis by giving us a primally brutal wolf fight between a rookie soldier and several mercenaries sent by Drake a leader of a terrorist organization, he wants some box full of classified documents that soldier Lawson is carrying, so he sends them off to kill him and bring the box back to him, what they didn´t know is beside he being a rookie he grew up in the mountains, and he´s a silent one, giving us silent kills, there´s not much talking once you´re in the woods.

There's a thick air of tension that runs through the entirety of the film's run time, something I would largely attribute to three things: it's realistic, intense violent subject matter; it's lack of a consistent music score flooding the speakers every five minutes and sparse dialogue; it's setting mostly taking place in the desolate bush. It's quiet, lethal and bloody.

For me one of the best indie movies i´ve ever seen, where the hunted waits for the hunters, there´s only one law here: to kill or be killed.

Definitely worth watching!! Silent and deadly.

I really like this survival story very much. Its bit depressing in the middle but the story is presented in highly engaging manner. Once the hunt started, there is no dull moment.

The best part is that the viewer can feel the pain and survival instinct while watching this.

I was taken on an emotional rollercoaster. It was acted beautifully. I found myself invested from the beginning.

For me this is the best movie this director ever made.

It is emotional, inspiring, super intense and fast paced entertainment.

The soundtrack is well within the movie and in some bits we only ear the suspense track at a very low level, it cause on us a little fear.

The savagery of war is clearly here.

A truly brutal story about a rookie soldier that has to carry some strange box with him, and a lot of soldiers tracking him, the story seems simple, but it ins´t, it´s devastating, what he goes trough, is a story of survival, because he doesn´t have special skills, he´s a rookie and he tries to survive anyway he can.

In the middle of the movie he gets caught by one main bad guy and he´s tortured, he tries to drown him in waterfall, but he manages to escape, that´s when he goes full rambo on them all.

Making traps to catch and kill them all, it´s really wonderfull to see how he manages to do that, using what he´s got, pilling the dead bodies of the enemy soldiers for weapons, food, clothes, and that´s how he survives, the ending is unexpected but very powerfull.

Realistic action, and a violent game of hide and seek.

This movie is an accelerated version of the mythical cat and the mice chase.

Here's the story: A rookie soldier is sent with a veteran team to carry a box of top secret documents, but when his team gets killed it´s up to him, to get it to safety, as he got a group of mercenarys led by Havoc chasing him.

This guy turns himself into Rambo as he makes traps, hide in the forest from all these guys and he hunts them off, in the most vicious ways, it´s great, it´s cool, but credit goes to Private Lawson who does a good job in protecting the box, even when we think he´s going down, he somehow manages to rise up again, for one more round.

8/10.

One of the last of the old-school thrillers.

This is one of those movies that people will either love or hate. It has it's flaws for sure, but this movie speaks to primitive, macho mano-a-mano movie lovers.

How realistic the knife fights are in this movie remains to be seen, It definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea, but the Hunted will make lots of action movie and martial arts movie fans pleased and satisfied.

The main problem is with the script, which never fleshes out the antagonist and never explores the back story properly, which is really annoying.

There are also some rather silly goofs along the way, including a scene where a guy somehow builds an extensive trap in about five minutes.

But the action is plentiful and well-shot and you could do a lot worse, so this is middle of the road rather than bad.

Engaging action movie with several twists.

We got 3 suicidal missions, 2 of them go well, but the last one goes very bad, as a team is ambushed and all of them have a gory end, only private Lawson escapes and manages to take a box that contains several classified docs, that some mean and bad guy with a beard wants, he then sends a lot of mercs to catch and bring the box back.

From the beginning to the end the comic-book action-packed and extreme violence is continued and it is fast movement and that's why the picture is quite entertaining . Concerning a strong battle of wits and physical force between Lawson and the mercs, the outdoors are frankly spectacular, the landscapes have been filmed in natural parks i´m most certain of this.

The Hunted is a great movie and intelligent!

Solid and effective war thriller.

Rui Constantino does a good job of staging some intense firefights. Hiding behind the cover of trees, as the golden sun creeps through, as we see our hero running troughtout the forest, once the bullets start flying, the film really showcases the character stamina as he take on more bruises and wounds as time goes by.

The movie focused mainly on one character Soldier Lawson, in the beginning he is just one of the team, but soon we realize that the all mission depends on him, as his team mates start dying, the film has lots of action and because of the odds stacked against him, it made for a very tense watch.

A sad, but an ultimately powerful film.

A war film worthy for patriots.

As you can tell by the title, the result of one of the missions did not end very well. This mission as a whole was a major failure that left its sole survivor in shambles, and with a very important task, with an entire organization on his tail, he will have to use what he learned in the army so that he can overrun the skills of Havoc and the mercs.

We also got Drake the leader, that trough the movie calls Havoc giving orders to kill everyone and bring the box back to him.

Whatever is in that box everybody wants it, so Lawson must reach an extraction point in order to be safe, but what he must endure to reach it, is pain and sorrow.

The film has plenty of bloody violence.

It´s an 8 out of 10 for me.

Survive or Die.

The first time I saw the trailers for this movie, I thought it was just another thriller. But this movie is so much more, almost silent once soldier Lawson goes to the forest, we can only ear, the wind, the birds, and the footsteps of the mercenary´s chasing our hero.

Mercenary Havoc is merciless as he tracks Lawson more than once along with his soldiers.

He has to survive the wilderness, and struggle with his own toughts if he will manage to survive this after his team was killed.

Much like the movie "The lone survivor" a battle of survival he must fight, to get out alive.

A good low budget movie For me 7.5/10.

At first, The Hunted felt like just another run-of-the-mill soldier movie, but then it took a turn I wasn't expecting and ended up being quite inspirational. This film in brutal in a variety of ways, and it features some very impressive stunts and solid performances.

The story moves at a great pace and yet spends enough time with the men to draw you and make you really feel for them.

The gun fights are very good, again you get the feeling of been there with them and having the fear of danger. Stunt work is a standout point.

You will really get into the horrific experience of being in the battle zone. This will make you admire and appreciate these brave men who do their unenviable duties in the face of death out of sheer patriotism. This is a frickin war movie, not for the faint at heart. 9/10.

Survive to live another die.

We all make choices in this life both good and bad. This is a story about a soldier who has an objective in hand: to take a box with secret documents to an extraction point, it sounds simple but it isn´t since his team his all dead and he is being chased by a group of men who smells his blood, wounded the soldier will travel to an enemy forest, surviving on the land, eating fish from a river it has the rambo feeling on it, i really dig that a lot, the movie is very special because our protagonist is silent, he never speaks a word, he only makes traps, kills enemy soldiers and tries to reach the extraction.

This movie feeds on the fear of the unknown and that´s why it´s different from others, we never know if he´s going to reach it in safety... The ending is very patriotic and portuguese director Rui Constantino must be proud of his work on this.

Good cast, good soundtrack and sets.

Would recommend to anyone.

Better than expected.

What a christmas present to have the bluray of this incredible movie, congrats to all the team and cast of this great movie.

For those of you that have never worn a uniform, this movie will clearly show why we Veterans will always be so close with each other. Its something you can't explain to others. Its something you can't put into words. You simply cant learn it from a book. You have to live it to understand.

This film is a heart wrenching, fast-paced war thriller.

The movie is full of high suspense action and the cast is top notch. All good actors that did an excellent job.

As far as war movies are concerned, it's a 7.5 for me.
