Episode 1
The first series of Bernard Cribbins sketch shows was made by Thames Television for the ITV network in 1969.
Cribbins allowed for Bernard's versatility. He was an actor, comic and singer.
The first sketch featured Bob Todd as an inattentive filling station attendant. He fills Bernard's car alright while reading a book. Not realising he is filling up the rest of the car.
There were several sketches were Bernard was an incompetent medic. A doctor who mixes up two babies that were born and he does not know which one was which. This was later followed by an incompetent dentist who turns out to be the window cleaner.
There was a song about an office worker yearning a for a pretty woman across the next building.
It was not the strongest openings, a few were gently amusing but nothing laugh out loud.
