When the scene shifts to Nick at the stopping point on the cell tower, the belaying rope that he had been attached to when ascending is now missing.
Byron has the film developed form the instant film camera that Franklin gave him, and the pictures were very clear as if they were taken recently. Franklin had been holding on to that camera for quite some time. Film negatives that were never developed have a limited shelf life, film stock is sensitive to background radiation and exposure to that radiation will cause the film to fog and any pictures developed from old film will be poor quality: low saturation of color, low contrast and foggy.
Stella, Nick and Toni are driving west through Pennsylvania when Toni tells Nick to take the exit for US Highway 86, which runs from Colorado to California. Then they are in a rural area with a Keystone sign for PA Route 86, which is a 12.4 mile road in Crawford County, in northwestern Pennsylvania. While Route 86 is indeed a very rural area, there is no direct exit from any major highway to PA 86, and there is no quarry like the one where Stella and (presumably) her father push the car.
