The “Dexter” prequel series at Paramount+ with Showtime has found its three leads.
Variety has learned that Patrick Gibson, Christian Slater, and Molly Brown are all set to star in the show, which is now titled “Dexter: Original Sin.” Gibson will play Dexter Morgan, while Slater will play Harry Morgan, Dexter’s adoptive father. Brown will play Debra Morgan, Dexter’s sister. The three roles were played by Michael C. Hall, James Remar, and Jennifer Carpenter respectively in the original series.
The 10-episode prequel was originally announced in February 2023. It is set in 1991, 15 years before the events of “Dexter.” The official logline states that the new show “follows Dexter (Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. The company could resort to a lawsuit to try and keep NBA rights, but if it loses them it will have an extra $1.2 billion per year to spend.
The ball is about to head to Warner Bros. Discovery’s court. The company could face a big decision in the coming days, as reports circulated Wednesday that the NBA is about to leave Wbd’s cable channel TNT in favor of a new broadcasting deal with Comcast and NBC starting in 2025. Wbd has a complex set of matching rights in its current contract, and could even try to sue to retain its NBA package, but if it does end up losing the Association, it will have to consider what to do with the $1.2 billion per season it has been paying the league since 2014, and the even more billions that it was planning in spending moving forward. Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 2 Review: Do You Know What It Means to Be Loved By Death
A change of scenery for Louis and Claudia opened up a world of possibilities for the pair.
And introduced Louis to the supposed great love of his life.
Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 2 was the hour many were waiting for, as we finally witnessed that first meeting between Louis and Armand.
I have to say, Daniel may have been the Mvp of this hour.
His sarcasm poured out of him at every turn as he sat across from two vampires whose words didn't match what he was seeing.
Daniel listened raptly during Interview with the Vampire Season 1 as Louis described his toxic dynamic with Lestat, all while his supposed real love idled nearby, and it's confusing at best to make sense of things.
They sit there, joined at the hip, finishing each other's sentences and putting on the façade that their love is the great one, yet it feels like a performance.

The second episode of “Interview with the Vampire” Season 2 introduced what fans of the Vampire Chronicles have been waiting for when Louis and Claudia finally crossed the threshold of the iconic Theatres des Vampires. The episode, titled “Do You Know What It Means To Be Loved By Death,” began with Louis and Armand co-narrating the memory of their first-ever meeting on the streets of postwar Paris and ended with Louis and Claudia’s quest to find more vampires at an end as not one, not two, but fourteen new vampires enter stage right and take their places in “Interview’s” story.
But who are all of these vampires? Where did they come from? And why are they using projection technology to trick live audiences into watching them drink people for real? These are many questions and in true “Interview” fashion, only some of them have answers.
What is the Theatres des Vampires?...

After an intoxicating and almost flawless first effort, Interview with the Vampire returns with a few new items to start the latest season.
Louis and Claudia, having left New Orleans and Lestat behind, are now traversing around Europe during Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 1 to find others like them.
It's a treacherous journey that sees them travel in silence for many years, frustrated, cold, and subsisting off "bad" blood, but eventually lands them in a place that will undoubtedly shape their vampire lives.
Before we dive into the happenings of the first hour, this is the part where I remind all of you loyal readers that I never read the source material, so I may not know where things might go or specific backstories if they aren't explained on-screen.
As I said before Interview with the Vampire Season 1, reviewing the series without prior knowledge could be a good or bad thing,...

This post contains spoilers for AMC's "Interview with the Vampire."
What is the price of being immortal? The true bane of immortality is erosion, where memories elongate and distort over time, and our perceptions of people ebb and flow with the power of hindsight and the lull of nostalgia. If an immortal were to narrate their lives on record, recount every delightful and traumatic memory in vivid detail, would these accounts be considered "truth"? This crucial question lies at the heart of the season 2 premiere of "Interview with the Vampire," which builds on the slanted truth of its first season and deepens the distortions of experiencing emotions that never end.
The AMC show has already proven its ingenuity in adapting a classic novel series that is beloved and controversial. It has identified the core appeal of Anne Rice's "The Vampire Chronicles" by leaning on the novel series' danger-tinged...

Review: Timed perfectly to Halloween, the 2022 debut of Interview with the Vampire beautifully updated the first volume in Anne Rice’s vast series for a new generation. With a young cast and a more overt take on the homoerotic elements of the novels, AMC’s series was designed to kickstart a cinematic universe of adaptations from the author’s works. While Mayfair Witches did not work as well, the second season of Interview with the Vampire is a welcome return to the stories of Louis, Claudia, Lestat, and more. Billed as “Part II,” the second season chronicles the back half of Rice’s novel.

To choose emotion over action is how madness lies, or at least that's how it seems when it comes to television ratings in this Golden Age of procedurals.
It is rare to see a drama series deviate from by-the-numbers plots featuring by-the-book law enforcement characters because networks opt to make spinoffs within that formula rather than create new shows outside of it.
Someone apparently forgot to tell AMC because their deliciously non-formulaic series Interview With the Vampire is set to return for a highly-anticipated second season on May 12.
One could argue that this television series is a twice-over spinoff of Anne Rice's 1976 novel, the source material of the 1994 theatrical film starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Kirsten Dunst.
A better take might be to acknowledge how well this adaptation updates the original story to satisfy fans from both back in the day and now.

Take a look at actress Kirsten Dunst, aka 'Mary Jane Watson' in director Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" trilogy and the star of the new feature “Civil War”, posing for the Spring 2024 edition of “S” magazine, photographed by Danielle Levitt:

Kirsten Dunst has grown up on-screen. From her big break as precocious baby vampire Claudia in 1994’s Interview with the Vampire,in which she stole scenes from no less than Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, she’s been an emblem of her era of popular culture — and shaped it, too. Her portrayals of languid Lux Lisbon in Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides and “cheer-tator” Torrance Shipman in 2000’s Bring It On are indelible portrayals of the inner lives of teenage girls. As Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man, she helped usher in our obsession with superheroes. And where would millennial pink be without Marie Antoinette?
In fact, perhaps she’s been such a Hollywood staple that the industry simply forgot to formally acknowledge her talent — until now. Dunst’s performance as Rose Gordon in Jane Campion’s The Power of the Doghas earned hermultiple award nominations, including a nod for...

It’s a tale as old as time. Boy meets vampire. Boy becomes vampire. Vampires become a messy couple, adopt a teen vampire who grows to hate them, and someone ends up getting their throat slashed during a gory, garish 1939 Mardi Gras party. Well, maybe not as old as time, but definitely as old as Anne Rice’s seminal 1976 gothic bestseller, Interview With the Vampire. And in AMC’s luscious, pitch-perfect adaptation, which is returning for its second season, Rice’s iconic characters—New Orleans scion Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson); the cruel, sexually voracious, centuries-old bloodsucker who turned him, Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid); and their perpetual-adolescent “daughter” Claudia (Delainey Hayles)—are heading abroad to tackle the novel’s brutal second half. “I’d say actually Part 2 is even more faithful to the book than the first season in many ways,” previews Game of Thrones alum Anderson.

Tom Cruise may have donned a majority of his roles in the action genre to the point where he is renowned for the same, but his one other classic masterpiece from the initial decade of his career literally sets the bar much higher. This movie is none other than the 1994 horror-fantasy film where he played Lestat de Lioncourt alongside Brad Pitt: Interview with the Vampire.

If anything, what went into the making and the final result was so incredible that the film even scored two Oscar nods. But despite being such an epic piece of work, the movie’s VFX Artist Robert Legato still holds some regrets about one of the most iconic scenes in the film. Why? Well, the reason is simple: Because, in his eyes, “the idea was better than the execution.”

The days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer, but it's hard to make the argument for going outside when there is so much good TV arriving in May. It is a superb month for returning favorites like Bridgerton Season 3 on Netflix, Interview With the Vampire on AMC, and Hacks Season 3 on Max. Evil fans should also get excited because the final season kicks off at the end of the month, and we don't have to be sad the demented ride is coming to an end until August.

From Jaws leaving him scarred at the age of 5 to The Shining inspiring his performance in The Spiderwick Chronicles, the horror genre has had a huge impact on Christian Slater over the years. The vampire horror sub-genre has become increasingly popular yet again. Of course, the main representative of the genre of the recent years is the new TV adaptation of Interview with the Vampire, based on Anne Rice's famous gothic horror novel, but today we will talk specifically about the movies.
Last year alone saw the release of two feature-length vampire horror films, Renfield by Chris McKay and The Last Voyage of the Demeter by André Øvredal. What they have in common are one aspect: an absolute failure in terms of critical and audience sympathy.
In this context, the new horror film Abigail is particularly noteworthy. Even though it is currently showing rather modest box office indicators, the new movie has already managed to get rave reviews. That's all thanks to how intelligently the script is constructed, with relevant and genuinely clever references and to the 20th century works that inspired it.

In recent years, we've seen more and more news of book-to-film adaptations getting TV remakes. Examples include His Dark Materials, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Interview with the Vampire, Reacher, as well as upcoming high-octane adaptations like Twilight and, of course, Harry Potter.
Some of us see this pop culture phenomenon as a miserable exploitation of once-popular franchises, while others are thrilled by the success of the aforementioned reboots. But what few can argue with is the fact that in 2024, technological capabilities have improved and the series can accommodate much more detail than the movie.
That's why the upcoming Harry Potter show could be a great opportunity for a long-awaited depiction of one of the best moments in the book that was barely touched on in the movie.
New Harry Potter Show Already in the Works
In April 2023, Warner Bros. officially announced that J.K. Rowling's fantasy novels would officially get a new live-action adaptation.

It's the most expensive movie A24 has ever made and is currently the talk of the industry. But what makes it so special?
The plot
The movie is set in the near future where a third term president is in charge of America. During his time in office, the country has become increasingly divided. Now it's a race against time as a group of heroic journalists desperately try to reach the White House before rebel forces do. Will they make it in time? Or is America doomed?
Against this backdrop, the film explores questions such as what it really means to be a US citizen.
It's an action flick, but so much more. Amidst the drama, there are deeper layers of meaning and questions for philosophical cinephiles to ponder. It's also been praised for its stunning scenery, so there really is something for everyone.
Who's starring in it ?

“Civil War,” the new acclaimed drama from director Alex Garland, is dominating theaters everywhere, and the film’s star Kirsten Dunst gives one of her best performances in her long and varied career. In honor of her latest movie, let’s revisit her many awards races, including her first Oscar nomination for “The Power of the Dog.”
Dunst’s first role that brought the actress lots of awards attention arrived in 1994 in Neil Jordan’s “Interview with the Vampire,” starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. Dunst’s performance as the young outspoken vampire Claudia earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress, up against Sophia Loren in “Prét-à-Porter,” Robin Wright Penn in “Forrest Gump,” Uma Thurman in “Pulp Fiction” and Dianne Wiest, who won the trophy for “Bullets over Broadway.”

If there was one thing that was going to tempt movie-goers into cinemas for some mid-budget vampire action in 2003, it was probably Bill Nighy as a vampire overlord. Or, was it the marketing campaign featuring a leather clad Kate Beckinsale? I’ll let you decide… The early noughties had already brought some decent vampire action, before we were subjected to the shimmering embarrassment to the genre that was the Twilight saga. We were also just a few short years away from seeing some proper kick-ass, sexy vampire action on the small screen with Hbc’s excellent True Blood series. The vampire genre was starting to show some signs of a re-awakening, and films such as the fun but flawed Queen of the Damned from 2002 and, of course, the awesome Blade series, were leading the bloodsucking way.
Vampires have always been a popular form of escapism for audiences and they’re still massively popular now.

[Editor’s note: this list was originally published in September 2019. It has been updated with new entries to coincide with the release of “Civil War.”]
Kirsten Dunst has many talents as an actor, but one of her best virtues is quite possibly just how cool she is. From her days as a teen star in “Bring It On” and “The Virgin Suicides” to her current era as an adult who takes on adventurous, ambitious roles in movies like “The Power of the Dog” and “Civil War,” Dunst has always had a charm and ease to her that has made her feel both relatable and glamorous. Part of it is her wry, catlike smile which gives her movie star looks some individuality. Part of it is her interviews, in which she projects a down-to-earth nature that feels authentic rather than put-on. And most of it comes from her choice of projects, which shows a great sense of taste and a desire to do truly great, ambitious, and weird work.

So of course they’re developing a sequel, even if one hasn’t been officially announced yet. Five Nights at Freddy’s star Josh Hutcherson already said back in January that they were “nailing down the story” and hoping to get into production as soon as possible. Now Blumhouse founder Jason Blum has shared a picture that was taken at Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, the company that provided the...
