- Ty goes undercover at a police precinct to help with the investigation into highly decorated officer Lt. Jay Frye and his ties to untouchable drug dealer Terry Isaiah.
- Even Carter's team wonders why he's so eager to prove highly respected, efficient lieutenant Jay Frye, about to be promoted captain of a special division, guilty of corruption, working from a killed dealer's unsubstantiated allegations that he unconditionally protects major drug trade baron Terry Isaiah, motive unknown. Posing as a rogue rookie, Ty, whose wife thinks they're pregnant, gets recruited in Frye's team. Its seems to be upright police work, on the edge like their own, yet at a party Chavez comes warn him and exposes a deceptive, apparently almost excessive loyalty.—KGF Vissers

There's a shootout in a store, cops are pinned down by robbers. The robbers get away. It turns out that the robbers are our team, Carter, Jamie and Dean and that Ty is one of the cops, in uniform.
Ty is pretending to be a beat cop. He's tranferred into a unit that is run by a detective Fry (Michael Biehn) that they suspect of being in cahoots with a big time drug dealer named Terry Isaiah. The detective that Ty was pinned down with, Chavez, says Ty did a great job. Fry gives him the once over.
Back at HQ Carter is mad how close Ty came with his bullets. Ty says Chavez had to buy it and that Fry showed up right after they took off. Ty asks if Carter doesn't feel bad about investigating other cops. He doesn't.
The next day the captain asks Carter how long he's been investigating Fry since he's a highly decorated cop. Carter has a dead informant on his hands, one that got dead after he told Carter that Isaiah was being protected by a co. The captain says Fry has been investigated by IAD several times and come up clean. Carter disagrees and wants the Captain to get Ty transferred to Fry's task force.
Ty comes home and Melissa says she's liking the regular hours he's working while he's in uniform undercover, especially since she's pregnant, or thinks she is anyway. They're happy, they make out.
Later, at the station house Fry and Chavez walk in. Ty stands up. Chavez says he's impressive. Fry liked the report Ty filed. Ty gets the coveted task force slot and Fry says if he sticks with him he'll have his choice of jobs. Chavez congratulates him.
At HQ, Carter finds more evidence that Fry is in Terry Isaiah's pocket. They want to catch Fry in the act working for Isaiah but they need help. So they go to a chop shop and pick up an old, bald, badass thief friend of Carter's. The bald badass friend likes the idea of busting a cop.
Ty meets with the task force. Fry asks him if he speaks any other languages; he speaks Spanish. Fry has Ty read grafitti left by gangs about people they've murdered and cop badge numbers. If he gets up there, Fry says, he's doing something right.
Dean and Jamie go to Carter's house. Jamie thinks it's strange he brings the criminal team to his own house. He shows them Isaiah's picture. They decide to disrupt Isaiah's business so they can get the word out there are new suppliers in town... them.
Ty again heads home and he admits to Melissa that he's admiring the task force guys and he felt good not sneaking around and proud to make a bust. She's enjoying the idea of being pregnant. She asks if he remembers what they agreed on. He does.
Fry shows up unexpectedly at his home, praising Ty's work and telling Melissa he's gonna make him a serious crime fighter. She says that's fine as long as Fry keeps him safe. Fry invites them over to a barbecue.
Ty walks in on Carter, Jamie, and Dean getting ready to bust up Isaiah's drug house. Ty tells him Fry came by and that he's worried about Melissa and that maybe he's suspicious. Carter says he doubts anything will happen at the BBQ.
They bust into Isaiah's drug house. The criminal part of the team steals some drug money and Carter and Dean look the other way. One of the drug punks says Isaiah is going to kill them, their families and anyhone they care about.. Carter and his chop shop friend shoot the place up.
Back at Carter's Jamie thinks it's weird that Carter is friends with criminals. Dean says they are what they are and at least they aren't faking. She wonders if he's taking a shot at her and how she's sleeping with her boyfriend and Dean. He says it's not always about that. Dean goes to back up Ty at the BBQ.
A bald man shows up to give Carter intel on Isaiah. He seems to be a drug dealer. After he leaves Jamie asks if Carter knows any normal people. She asks what they're doing with drugs. He says they're going into business.
Ty and Melissa show up to the barbecue. Melissa's nervous. They say hi to Chavez, his wife, and baby.
When Carter and Jamie join Dean in the car, he reports that Ty brought Chardonnay instead of candy. Jamie asks if this whole deal house, lawn, BBQs is Carter's thing. He says he tried it once but it didn't stick. Cater takes off with Dean and tells Jamie to stay.
At the BBQ the cops talk about personal problems and Fry appears to be their savior. Fry pulls Ty aside and asks how long he's been married. Ty says 5 months. Fry's been married 17 years. He likes working with married guys because it makes you think about what you're doing when you've got something to come home to. Ty agrees.
Carter and Dean go to talk to a dealer named Toomey who works the club circuit. He thinks they're crazy to try and cut in on Isaiah's business. They show him the bag of drugs and say Isaiah is running low on account of them since they busted up his joint. They give Toomey a free sample and tell him to call.
The next day Fry is yelling on the phone as Ty watches. Fry comes out and tells him to get the task force together. He got a tip about a new supplier that may be setting up shop.
They bust in on Toomey, rough him up a bit and ask if he's buying from a new supplier. Fry wants names. Toomey says he knows Isaiah's pulling Fry's strings and probably gave him Toomey's info. Ty thinks he sees a gun and shoots Toomey dead. Fry walks over and wonders what he's doing since it wasn't a gun but a TV remote control. Ty starts to freak a bit and so they plant a gun on him. Ty is against it but Fry says it's done and to call it in.
Back at the station the force toasts one less scumbag on earth. Ty is bummed and freaked. They all say they'll back him up on the "it was a gun" thing. Plus, Fry adds, Toomey was a scumbag who drew on him, and they'll swear to it. Fry tells Ty he did the right thing. Ty asks after "Isaiah," who heard Toomey say was "pulling his strings." Fry says he's an informant who's more valuable on the streets than in jail. He says Isaiah's own judgement day is coming . Ty asks who they answer to. "Nobody," says Fry and that's what it takes to be a legit crimefighter. Chavez stares at Ty through the glass doors.
Ty comes back and Carter is mad he shot somebody. Ty says he had no choice and again wonders why they'e going after a cop who's just like them. Carter says they're nothing alike and worries Ty is believing Fry's BS
Ty goes home, he's been drinking, he wakes up Melissa. She admits to having fun at the BBQ and that is was nice to have something in common. He says yes, working with them has shown him there are different ways of doing the job.
At HQ, Jamie does research. She sees a photo of Fry and Carter together in an old front page story about an LAPD scandal.
At the station, Chavez goes to Ty and tells him Fry planted the original gun and then made Ty feel like he shot him over the remote.Chavez says Fry roped Ty in to win over his loyalty and that he's done it with others. Chavez says he has his doubts. Ty asks about Isaiah. Chavez says the rumor is Isaiah has something on Fry, on tape and that Fry sold out his badge to him for a few deals. Ty wonders why Chavez is telling him this. Chavez says Ty's wife told his wife that they're trying to have a baby. Chavez says everything changes after that. Fry enters and wonders what's up.
He shows the task force pics of Dean and says he's the new supplier and they're hitting him right now.
Carter returns to HQ. Jamie asks him about knowing Fry. Carter admits they worked on a task force years ago and were encouraged to do questionable things and that Fry was the worst, a straight up thug. At the time Fry cut a deal to save his own ass and didn't honor the cop code. Jamie is incredulosu that Fry got a promotion and the wife and the picket fence and Cater just got to be friends with criminals. Not quite, says Carter. They get word Fry is on his way to Dean's.
The task force rolls up, Fry says to be careful. He tells Ty to stay and cover the front. Ty texts Dean a warning but it's too late. He hears shots as they bust in. Ty runs in. Chavez is dead. Dean had just started shooting willy-nilly. Fry stares at Ty.
Back at the station house they're showing Dean's photo as the shooter to all of the cops and saying to go get 'em, but by the book. Fry says cuffs if you have to, body bag is cool, too.
The four confab at HQ. Fry is tying up loose ends: Toomey who knew about Isaiah, Chavez who was about to flip. Dean wants to get to Fry but Carter points out he's made him a cop killer so now he's wanted everywhere. Carter is mad. Ty is mad, he knows he took drugs off Dean but never booked 'em.
Ty goes to visit Fry and tells him about Chavez' second thoughts and that the rumor is Fry is/was dirty . Ty pretends to be on board with his plan and Fry says he's being made Captain with own division, and invites Ty to come along. The only catch is they need to deal with Terry isaiah.
They go see him and he's mad. He wants the cop killer caught. Fry gives him the drugs and as as he does Carter and his gang bust in. Fry is confused and says Carter was always a sneaky son of a bitch. Fry can't believe Carter called the cops on him. Carter points out that Fry is a cop killer, and Fry says no, Dean is, in the eyes of the world. Fry's guys realize he's losing the upper hand and bail on him even though he says he can fix it. Fry glares at Ty and then Carter. He tells Carter not to think he's better than him. Sirens sound. Fry drops his gun.
At home Carter looks at the old newspaper clipping. He opens the door to Ty who wants to invite him to dinner but says he knows Carter probably has a hot date. Carter says Ty knows him too well and they agree on a raincheck. Ty admits Melissa thought she was pregnant and he told her he'd stop working for Carter if she ever got pregnant. Carter tells him to do what he needs to do. After Ty leaves, Carter contemplates and then crumples the old newspaper clipping.
