Crew crosses 80 crores in three weeks. (Photo Credit – Instagram)
After being in theatres for three weeks, Crew has hit the 80 crores mark. The film collected around 10 crores more in the week gone by and that too when there was mighty competition in the form of Eid releases Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan. Still, audiences continued to be interested in the all-women story, hence resulting in consistent footfalls.
The drop from the second week of 22.93 crores is also reasonable and rest assured, there would be much better stability this week. In fact it should only be in around 50% range because the shows have also been increased for the Ekta Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor production. Chances are good that the film will now make a dash towards 90 crores mark. It would have seemed difficult after the first week, which was good, had closed at 47.54 crores instead of scoring a half century there and then.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is facing intense criticism yet again after the studio disclosed $115 million in abandoned film write-downs in an earnings report on Friday. The news renewed outrage over Zaslav’s strategy of canceling projects for tax benefits, with fans calling for his ousting. The write-offs likely include the scrapped $70 million film Coyote vs. Acme. Warner Bros. initially planned to release the animated Looney Tunes spinoff theatrically in 2023, before new animation leadership decided to shelve it.
Warner Bros. Faces Major Backlash Over $115 Million Tax Write-Downs
Coyote vs. Acme
Director Dave Green blasted the “devastating” decision last November. After backlash, Warner Bros. allowed him to shop the finished film to other distributors, but its fate remains uncertain. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the $115 million write-down disclosure suggests Coyote vs. Acme is permanently canceled.
Many are expressing anger at Zaslav and Warner Bros. for repeatedly scrapping films solely for tax benefits.

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is, perhaps, one of the most misunderstood films of all time. A vast majority of the audience adored its message, while simultaneously reveling in the breathless beauty of Barbie Land.
Unfortunately, some did not understand what the film was trying to put forth or did not like the ‘feminist’ undertones that it had. Regardless of why they dislike the film, it has prompted them to criticize the entire movie, being angry at every little detail of it.
Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in Barbie
The most recent high-profile celebrity to voice their disdain about the Margot Robbie film was the German Auteur Werner Herzog. The Nosferatu the Vampyre filmmaker recently did an interview where he talked about the film and his thoughts on it were anything but positive. So much so, that he could not sit through more than 30 minutes of it.

Jimmy Kimmel is ripping the Barbie parody band-aid a full month before the Oscars.
The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host dropped a five-minute short on Monday night, directed by Jkl‘s Will Burke, hyping his March 10 gig emceeing the Academy Awards — re-creating many Barbie sets and reuniting four of its castmembers in a spoof that finds a hapless Kimmel trying to make his way to the Dolby Theatre. “Since the dawn of time, men have been getting lost,” says a voice-of-God Helen Mirren, spoofing her own narration of the Margot Robbie feature. “This is the story of one such dum-dum.”

"I never would've guessed that I'd have won for Best Actor in a Comedy," Leonardo DiCaprio said when he collected his Golden Globe for "The Wolf of Wall Street" in 2014. DiCaprio has played many different roles -- some dramatic, some thrilling, and many that seem to be suffering perpetual panic attacks. In the past decade, however, DiCaprio has started to include levity in that anxiety.
In "Killers of the Flower Moon," DiCaprio plays Ernest, a simple guy and a veteran who falls in love with an Osage woman. But soon enough, Ernest gets involved in a crime ring and a conspiracy to murder Osage members for their money. There are hints of DiCaprio's past performances in Ernest. There's a bit of his anxiety-ridden undercover cop from "The Departed," some of the boyish charm from his earlier roles, and also the in-over-his-head escalation of "The Wolf of Wall Street." He is charming,...

Martin Scorsese planned to tackle late singer Frank Sinatra’s life in a biopic simply titled Sinatra. But Sinatra’s son shared there was one actor who he preferred wouldn’t be cast in the unmade picture.

Scorsese had been mulling over doing a Frank Sinatra biopic for quite some time. He’d even hired a screenwriter for the project, and had in mind the eras of Sinatra’s life he wanted to tackle. At the time, however, he was far away from picking an actor to play the artist. Although, according to The Guardian, Scorsese did have a couple of names in mind.
“My choice is Al Pacino, and Robert De Niro as Dean Martin,” Scorsese said.

Cat Person was previously reviewed at Sundance 2023.
Plot: A college student (Emilia Jones) becomes infatuated with an older man (Nicholas Braun) who frequents the theater she works at.
Review: For those not in the know, Cat Person is based on a New Yorker article that went viral a few years ago. It described, in excruciating detail, the relationship between a 20-year-old college girl and a thirty-something man she had a brief relationship with. The film, adapted by writer Michelle Ashford of Masters of Sex and director Susanna Fogel, embellishes the already fictional story with a third-act twist, but do a good job translating the story to film. The result is a fresh, uncomfortable and often legitimately funny take on a provocative subject.
Power dynamics in relationships are discussed now more than they used to be, even compared to when the article was published in 2017. Nowadays, everyone would look askew at...

This post contains spoilers for "Barbie."
During the emotional climax to "Barbie," Billie Eilish's breathy, dreamlike voice sings "What Was I Made For?" over grainy recordings of brides, mothers, grandmothers, families, and friends sharing tender moments. It's one of the best movie sequences of the year, with Eilish's haunting song capturing Barbie's confusion about her purpose and future.
Vulture's Katie Rife has argued this scene links Stereotypical Barbie (Margot Robbie) to an "intergenerational heritage that she couldn't access as a fictional construct." This collage of close-knit relationships is overwhelming for Barbie, who experiences human feelings for the first time -- particularly a mix of painful and cathartic sadness. Ruth Handler (Rhea Perlman), the inventor of Barbie, tells the iconic doll to close her eyes and let the turbulent emotions wash over her.

The production needs of making the “Barbie” movie required so much pink paint that it led to a worldwide shortage.
That’s the claim coming from the film’s production designer, Sarah Greenwood, who spoke with Architectural Digest about how “Barbie” caused an international dearth of a particular hue of paint.
Speaking with Ad about the production design of the film, which required creating a full-sized version of Barbie’s Dream House in a London soundstage, director Greta Gerwig explained why pink is such a key colour in the film.

In Hollywood, plenty of actors get their start on popular soap operas. The medium serves as a training ground for many performers and teaches them how to memorize and perform scripts with a rapid-fire turnaround time. Because the television shows move so quickly, soaps can help actors learn agility. Furthermore, being in soap opera can also provide a steady paycheck. Eva Longoria is amongst the many actors who got their start on a soap. For years, Longoria starred on the wildly popular show The Young and the Restless. However, she admits that she didn’t want anyone to know about her role.

Writer-director Damien Chazelle’s “Babylon” is the sort of maximalist movie where every frame teems with excess, so it’s only fitting that its costumes be outrageous in both their number and designs. Between the cast of over a hundred speaking roles and the abundance of extras, costume designer Mary Zophres estimates that she and her department created around 7,000 costumes, which is even more impressive when one considers the meticulous detail that went into every piece of clothing. Nowhere did this approach pay more dividends — both in glamour and character development — than with Jean Smart’s brutally honest gossip columnist Elinor St. John. A close look at her costumes reveals the thought and care that, when multiplied by hundreds of cast members, made “Babylon” the most sartorially spectacular film of 2022 and Zophres an Oscar nominee for best costume design.

Paul Mescal’s ascent to Oscar glory should be studied. Emulating the career paths of, say, Leonardo DiCaprio and, more recently, Timothée Chalamet, the 26-year-old Irish actor skirted inevitable superhero parts in the wake of his star-making turn in Normal People and signed on to an emotional indie from a first-time director. That movie, Charlotte Wells’s haunting father-daughter drama Aftersun, has now earned him a Best Actor nod – a reward for the laser-focused thoughtfulness that has gone into his trajectory so far.
Mescal probably won’t win the Oscar next month – Elvis’s Austin Butler and The Banshees of Inisherin’s Colin Farrell seem more likely – but he is the internet’s golden boy right now, his nod one of the most pleasant takeaways from a surprisingly strong list of Oscar nominations announced today.
As was expected, the shaggy sci-fi epic Everything Everywhere All at Once received the lion’s share of nominations,...

Don Cheadle has revealed that his multi-film contract with Marvel Studios has come to an end.
The actor has played Colonel James Rhodes, Aka War Machine, in seven films across the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise, as well as one TV show.
He made his debut in 2010’s Iron Man 2, replacing Terrence Howard in the role.
Cheadle is set to reprise the role in the forthcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion, alongside Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury, and his own series Armor Wars.
However, speaking at Disney’s D23 Expo last weekend, Cheadle revealed that he had come to the end of his pre-contracted time in the MCU.
Marvel habitually sign actors in advance to multi-film deals that sometimes span the better part of a decade.
“I’m done with my contracted years in the MCU,” he said (per Variety).
However, Cheadle sounded optimistic about the prospect of further MCU projects down the line.

I am sorry and saddened to hear that my stories in Perth on Saturday might have offended some people. It was never my intention to make hurtful or homophobic comments and I am truly sorry if my stories that I have shared many times were taken that way.

On 11 September 2001, Hollywood actor Steve Buscemi – known for his depictions of gangsters and weirdos and once described by The Guardian as a “strangely attractive shoelace” – returned to his old job as a New York City firefighter.
He worked 12-hour shifts for several days alongside other firefighters, searching for survivors in the rubble of the World Trade Center.
Buscemi had taken the Fire Department of the City of New York (Fdny) civil service test when he was 18 and used to work as a Fdny firefighter in downtown Manhattan in the 1980s.
He later left the service to become an actor but has remained in touch with New York firefighter causes, speaking at union rallies and hosting the HBO documentary A Good Job: Stories of the Fdny.
At the time, he said of his efforts during the rescue: “It was a privilege to be able to do it. It was great to...

Melbourne, Feb 18 – Actor James McAvoy says he is “intimidated” by his wife Anne-Marie Duff because she is such an ‘incredible’ actress.
McAvoy, 30, who shares the screen with his 39-year-old spouse in the flick ‘The Last Station’, confesses he greatly admires her acting skills.
“I’ve always been intimidated by how good an actress she is – and no less now. Especially after watching the last two things she did – playing Margot Fonteyn in the BBC production ‘Margot’ and playing.
