Too much "drama"
kelsi_05097 October 2022
The concept of the show is great, young black people trying to make it in the business world; however the drama over shadows it. They're reaching for a storyline and trying to stay relative. Seems too scripted.also, I have no problem with cussing but really? They cuss too much like they're trying to be cool or something. I think they need a better cast for a show like this. I really wanted to like it but every episode just seemed to hard to watch. Each character seems like they're trying to hard to be a character and not their nature selves. I mean I can see why people like the show but i don't see how people are giving this show 10/10 lol.

It's okay overall. Disappointed in Ep 3

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed the first two episodes but my opinion of the show started to go south after Episode 3. I thought the premise of the show was to show young black entrepreneurs in a uplifting each other and promoting positivity. However the way in which the cast bullied Miami reinforced negative stereotypes and was unnecessary. Hopefully next season is better.

Not what I expected

Warning: Spoilers
The first episode was amazing but once it got to the second episode I knew it was going to be the typical drama in every reality tv show. Fighting over a man, talking over each other, and not really putting the effort to communicate especially when Miami tried to explain herself. Like all the girls excluded her making her feel like an outcast and at that point I wasn't feeling it anymore.

I thought this show was gonna be about young black men and women making the best life for themselves. And honestly I was disappointed because it just turned into a drama. Rebekeh could have spoke calmly to Miami instead of just blasting her. To me, it seemed as though the so call friend group don't like when new people want to join in, like instantly start dissing them without giving them a chance. Especially the girls, except for Tylynn, acting like middle schoolers instead of grown adults and that ain't cute at all.

Overall I'm kinda disappointed.

It's cool

Warning: Spoilers
I hat the episode for Amanda's birthday. I hate how the girls were so mean to Myami. When talking to Rebekah, she over talked this girl the whole time and if she wasn't so in her feelings she would have seen that they were just friends unless it comes out later on in the series. I wanted to say something so bad to those girls but couldn't. If it made them so uncomfortable and so upset about his actions you should have just told them to leave. I'm sure they would have understood that more then acting like 13 year old girls. P'jae was horrible to a person he bought with him not knowing how others would feel and all the hate should have went to him. And the preview showed that after their encounter he doesn't even want to have anything with Bekah! That episode made me question the rest of the show. These talented black women and men don't have the mindset that I thought they had and it seems like the show is going to be full of drama.

Not a good show.
RoTheeShow5 August 2022
I love and support everything Issa does. I'll continue to do so with all her projects, but this show isn't it. The "drama" is unbearable and this "unscripted" show is giving very much staged. The cast makes black women seem catty and can't contain themselves. I'm disappointed Issa will put out something like this. I get drama happens in everyday life but every positive event that is held on this show has an unnecessary fighting scene. If everybody is beefing why do they keep hanging out? I hope it gets canceled. I can't say enough how UNBEARABLE AND CHILDISH this cast is. Season 2 is here and there is no growth in these grown adults.

Watch it for yourself!

So, there's one review that's talks about how "bad" the show is which I'm going to assume they are a non-poc, Issa Rae hater OR just would rather watch Golden Girls. (No shade). This show is based solely on young black seemingly successful entrepreneurs. Something America doesn't want you to see. So far FOUR episodes with minimum drama. It's not ratchet tv at all! The theme song is great and fits the show. It's based is LA hint the title. The picture is great. They speak fluent English with a little slang. Like come on! Watch it for yourself. It's super refreshing to see young black people on tv living life! Please please give it a chance. If you are not into the black culture then no, this isn't your type of tv show.

If you want to see the life of black people outside of what the media shows then give it a chance. 10/10 so far! 😁

Decent so far

I love the concept of the show and it's great to see young black people being successful and not constantly on the struggle bus. There is some very high school type drama at times well a lot of the time. But it is entertaining.

Waaaay better than The Hills
ryade-1299227 October 2022
Listen this show is 10/10 and one of the most fulfilling reality shows I've ever seen ! I have been a huge fan of The Hills over the years... this show tops it by far . The maturity, conversations , over all interactions are very inspiring . Very relatable from PJ driving an older Honda and not a BMW or Benz to Jaylen being a hard worker . Additionally there are many funny moments, like Myami hold her own with the ladies as well as the men . AQ is my dude , had my wife and I rolling ! Marcus is so funny it's not right . Jerald is a fav of mine as well as Rob (not rob with two b's) . Man I love this show and I pray it sticks around for a long time !!!! BRAVO ISSA !

Great look into the life of young black success in LA

Worth the watch! This show is refreshing to see a real group of friends go through trials and tribulations of making it in Los Angeles. The locations are hidden gems of Los Angeles.

Relatable
hardyjacoby20 August 2022
As a young Black man in his 20s, I can definitely relate to this show and the topics that they're covering. I feel like it's a needed show that shows young Black people who are hungry to advance their careers while having fun. It's refreshing, relatable, and it even sparks conversations with my friend.

Both seasons were super entertaining with the storylines and allowing us to get to know the cast. It shows South LA in a beautiful light that makes me want to visit the places that they show. The soundtrack is great as expected.

I hope this show continuese to go on and allows the audience to grow with the cast members as their life progresses. From Season 1 to Season 2, you could tell the topics got deeper and more serious. HBO, you have a hit. Keep investing and promoting this show!

Great show... Keep this going Issa
chrischr-355-81905116 February 2022
I really enjoyed the show. The soundtrack was nice and I thought the cast selection was good too. It's nice to see young successful entrepreneurs within a friend group who are willing to expose their relationship issues and how they circumvent the city on reality TV. I enjoyed the destination events and the decor/settings of each event... The vibe of the show was very upscale yet down to earth. If insecure was a reality show, I'd imagine it would look something like this. Looking forward to season two.

Amazing show by Issa
traviabelton25 August 2022
First, I watched this show over the last week and I've loved it. I've seen a lot of comments about it being too dramatic but it's literally a reality show about a 20 something friend group. I think they do showcase their entrepreneurial side which is refreshing to see on TV as a 20 something black women. They're giving black luxury and end of the day, people need to see that.
