George Lucas modeled Cad Bane after American actor Lee Van Cleef's character of Angel Eyes from the movie The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966). While the resemblance isn't as noticeable in the animated series which Bane has appeared in, some of Van Cleef's facial features are incorporated into the prosthetics created for his live action debut. Most noticeably, Bane's chin is sculpted to look like Van Cleef's, as are his high angular cheekbones.
