The famous Belmar Motor Lodge was the backdrop of the the off-the-grid hotel in this movie. When filming, many of the hotel guests entered the scenes and some became extras.
There was no actual elevator in this film. When the actors turned at the end of the long hallway, they hit a wall. The production later resumed in a basement studio where the film's producers had fabricated a replica of a 1970s wood-paneled elevator.
When Elvis does his talk-up on the radio, with, "behind the racks and stacks, it's the best on wax...", he was paying tribute to the Bob the Bossman Cormier character from Stand by Me.
