- Two young lovers elope off-the-grid as the world just outside begins to fall a part at the seams. As they flee to New Jersey, they face down the possible collapse of all they previously knew. With new rules and an anonymous radio DJ guiding them, Ray + Julie fight to stay alive.—Rob Thorp
- Set in the near future, a young couple elopes to marry at an off-the-grid resort near the border of Canada. They spend the hours before the reading of their vows drinking wine, reminiscing on their old lives, and their hopes for a life together.
After an unexplained "event" takes place, they are forced to flee south, to New Jersey. Gathering what little they can in the seconds they have, they run off in a stolen car, with little more than the clothes on their backs.
As Ray & Julie pursue the rumor of safe harbor, they navigate the barren landscape of America, running a gauntlet of potential danger at every turn. With a near-death wound, Ray must make it safely home in order to survive. The duo makes their way into the various backwaters and hidden roads of New Jersey's coast, even pausing for a lost weekend squatting in abandoned mansion, playing house. After finding a suicide victim - the fallout of this new world, Julie doubles down on her mission to make to Shark River - the "safe spot" - in order to save Ray.
Along the journey, they are guided by a mysterious radio DJ who offers a playlist and pearls of wisdom to Julie, now in control of their very lives. The DJ, "Elvis", confronts his own demons and is forced to decide if he will ride out the apparent apocalypse, or give life one more try. After running out of gas for his generator to power his pirate radio signal, Elvis uncovers his old motorcycle and heads off into the sunrise.
As Ray & Julie make it, finally, to Shark River, they face one more test of will - a group of men that have been tracking their every move.
