Season Three Review
southdavid22 September 2022
After a couple of shaky first episodes, I think that "Solar Opposites" found it's footing, and the remaining episodes and the second season were good stuff. This third season maintains that quality, whilst giving much more depth to the saga of 'The Wall' which is some of the better aspects of the show.

The aliens, Korvo (Justin Roiland), Terry (Thomas Middleditch), Yumyulack (Sean Gaimbrone) and Jessie (Mary Mack) come to question the success of their mission so far, especially in comparison with the other 99 ships that left the planet before the meteor hit. Meanwhile, the wall decide on fair elections to determine the new leader, before the power goes out, forcing Cherie (Christina Hendricks) and Halk (Sterling K Brown) to lead a party down to the depths, to fix the problem.

Again, it's the Wall storyline that provides perhaps the most compelling reason to keep watching "Solar Opposites", it's a proper saga to rival "Game of Thrones" for political backstabbing, emotional deaths and treachery. There is a little more throughflow in the main storyline now though, with the Aliens repeatedly being forced to look at their actions since arriving on earth and in the episode "99 Shops" discovering what has happened to the other ships that left the planet in the opening credits.

I thought this season was maintaining that season two standard and overall, I really enjoyed the run. Looking forward to the Halloween special.

I know it's not funny. that's why it's funny!

The jokes are mainly family guy style "I know it's not funny. That's why it's funny!", and random film references. Film references in other shows are usualy subtle and used as ester eggs for people to discover, but this show has the most on the nose form of referencing and literally tell you "this is just like xxx from the movie yyy!".
