- MODOK goes to Melter's grave, leave flowers, and "tells" Melter what has happened to him recently. He complain about Melter's family getting into his personal space, and that his dreams of taking over the world have fallen further away. since he signed the contract with GRUMBL and lost all of his power with AIM. He asks Melter for a sign, and hears a caretaker raking and talking about "turning over a new leaf", There are other people around talking about coming at things from a new angle, but MODOK doesn't see any signs at first. MODOK finally gets the idea that he should try something new,.
At AIM, Gary looks for the mail car. MODOK comes by with it and insists that he's just doing his job. Gary wonders if MODOK doing his job is part of his secret plan, and MODOK insists that he's just a mailperson. He gives Monica a package, and she blasts it with a wrist-blaster, figuring that it was a bomb or poison. MODOK assures her that it wasn't and cheerfully gives Austin a package. Austin also figures MODOK is up to something, and MODOK says that he's just a mailperson.
The Board summons Austin to the elevator, and Hexus appears. Austin tells them that everyone should have the GRUMBL smarthub, GROME, in their home by Christmas. They tell him that they're stepping up the release date to the next Tuesday, and they boast of moving to planet to planet taking its resources, and now they've targeted Earth. Now they will release a mind-control wave through GROME to subvert humanity, so they can invade. Austin assures them that he's not having second thought about selling out humanity, and then the Board notices Austin's dog Sherlock in his manpurse. They refuse to let Austin have Sherlock as a companion once humanity has fallen, and tell Austin to get back to work.
Austin later tells his AIM staff that the Board is excited about moving up the release date on GROME. MODOK comes in with his delivery cart, and Monica reports that she fixed the glitch in GROME, which kills a couple of lackeys. Monica points out that they're down to two from ten dead, and Austin tells her that two deaths aren't good enough. He gives Sherlock a thumbs up while saying that they'll have to delay the launch.
MODOK interjects that he can fix the glitch. Monica reluctantly agrees and Austin notices the Board security cameras watching and says that the launch is a go. Monica figures that MODOK wants to be the scientist Supreme again, but Austin doesn't believe her.
Gary is working in the mailroom, and his husband Mike comes in and says that they have to go. Having found MODOK's locket with his hologram of his utopia, Gary wonders why MODOK has abandoned his dream and figures Austin is the cause of everything, and MODOK needs him. Mike, disappointed that Gary is abandoning him, leaves.
Outside, Austin tells Sherlock that he can't live without him so they should kill themselves together. He fails and tries to shiv himself to death with a house key. it doesn't work very well, and MODOK comes out for a lunch break and wishes he could work for Austin non-stop. When MODOK goes back, Austin comes up with a new plan: Plan M.
MODOK is eating microwave oatmeal in the lunchroom, and Monica secretly watches him and figures that MODOK is planning her demise. Austin secretly watches MODOK and figures he has to stop MODOK from fixing GROME or the world ends. Gary secretly watches Austin and figures he has to kill because he's killing MODOK's spirit.
Carmilla is in her mother Monica's lab. Monica is disguised as a manatee, hiding from MODOK. Monica figures that MODOK is planning something so she's hiding, and spinal taps Carmilla to make sure she's not MODOK in disguise. Her daughter points out that she does less since she's become Scientist Supreme, and figures that Carmilla is trying to undermine her confidence so Carmilla must be MODOK in disguise. The spinal tap comes up negative, before Monica's battle orbs can kill Carmilla. Monica injects Carmilla with Pym particles so she can go inside her and find MODOK if he's hiding in her.
Gary is working out and vowing to kill Austin.
Austin watches MODOK in his lab, as he works on GROME. He then suggests to MODOK that they go for a walk in a dark alley, away from the surveillance cameras. When MODOK refuses, Austin resorts to begging, but MODOK only says that he'll do it after the launch. The cameras zoom in, and the Board summons Austin to the elevator. Austin goes, and the three members of the Board ask him which one of them looks best. Gary tries to shoot a poison dart through the roof hatch but the dart jams in the tube.
The Board tells Austin that they've had a change of heart about Sherlock, and wants Austin to kill him immediately. Gary tosses the snake in that he used for the poison on the art, and accidentally drops the dart on the snake, killing it. Austin leaves, and Monica grabs Gary and takes him to her lab. Austin goes there to find something to warn MODOK, and hides in a chamber. Meanwhile, Monica straps Gary to a framework and tells him to tell her everything about what MODOK is up to.
The fusion chamber Austin is hiding in activates, and Monica's battle orbs fire into it. Austin emerges fused with Sherlock, and Monica checks the monitors for MODOK's location.
MODOK's crew attacks Avenger's Tower. Iron Man arrives and easily knocks them out, and MODOK arrives and asks Iron Man if they can talk.
Monica meets with the lackeys, and Austin staggers in. As they begin, MODOK comes in, announces that he's fixed GROME, and the Board appears on the monitor to applaud MODOK's success. MODOK says that he's secure Wonder Man's help to launch the brand, and he sold his shares of AIM to Iron Man. Iron Man tries to come in through the windows but they don't open, so he makes a not-so-dramatic entrance through the door. The Board points out that MODOK doesn't have enough shares, and he notes that he and Monica do. MODOK asks Monica to sell her shares to Iron Man, and shows her a piece of paper. Monica reads it and immediately agrees.
Iron Man says that AIM is no longer in the world-conquering business, and he's going to become even more rich when he releases GROME. He tells MODOK and Monica that they're hired, and flies off. Before she goes with MODOK, Monica gives Austin an injection that unfuses him with Sherlock.
Outside, MODOK and Monica look at the paper, which announces AIM-2. MODOK says that he forgot what AIM is, and it's the two of them, and it's time to get back to science and taking over the world. Monica will be the Scientist Supreme, while he's the Scientist Supermer. Austin runs out yelling that MODOK can't release GROME, and Gary runs him over with a truck. MODOK is impressed and hires Gary for his new company.
MODOK, Gary, and Monica go to Paylesss, that they're using as their new base, and put together office furniture. Mike brings in bison burgers, and Monica asks MODOK why he sold AIM to his mortal enemy. He turns on the TV that show Iron Man and Wonder Man being attacked by animals, and explains that he calibrated GROME to release a wavelength that drives animals crazy.
At the old AIM, the Board interviews new candidates for Scientist Supreme. Their new candidate, Janice, accepts and the Board figures they're invasion is on and they can destroy MODOK.
