The Texas Frightmare Weekend ran this past April 29th-May 1st in Dallas, and as Dread Central's only North Texas operative, it fell to me to bring you everything I could from the con. Unfortunately, for the past month I was held captive by an illicit donkey show south of the Border that's also a front for a Satanic drug cult. Just the other day I managed to escape and file this report. Yes, I'm fine now -- but please, don't anyone call me 'Sniffles' or I might suffer a serious relapse.
Texas Frightmare Weekend is one of the biggest horror conventions in Texas; yet, somehow I'd managed to miss it every year I've lived here. This year I wasn't going to let that happen, and my coverage started with live tweets all weekend long so feel free to add me at MrDarkDC on Twitter and read back to see what you missed!

Here at Dread Central we love our scream queens and make it a habit to keep you guys up-to-date on everything that they do involving badass sexy, naked, murderous chick things. Speaking of which ...
Below you'll find a clip of Carlee Baker (Wicked Lake, Blue Like You, The Woman) doing her thing in tonight's episode of the new Cinemax series "Femme Fatales", in which she plays a devious masseuse with a mind for murder. Aw yeah, baby!
The episode, entitled "Something Like Murder," is an homage to film noir, particularly movies like Body Heat and Double Indemnity. It centers around a bored trophy wife (Anya Monzikova) who has plans for her wealthy dull older husband (Ian Gregory) after she meets a sexy masseuse (Carlee Baker). However, she quickly starts to wonder whether her new partner has plans for her.
"Something Like Murder" airs tonight at 11 Pm on Cinemax. Dig it!

Directorial experience makes all the difference in this superbly taut and gripping follow up.
Before the latter half of the evening's double feature, Tmp was on hand for the Tfw Red Carpet event where director Lucky McGee and several of the cast members of The Woman strutted their stuff before heading into the theater for the premiere.
On hand from the cast were the lovely Carlee Baker, the ultra-talented Sean Bridgers and the absolutely precious Shyla Molhusen.
We were also treated to two very interesting shorts by McGee. The first, a short film starring Carlee Baker and Angela Bettis called Blue Like You had us in stitches with its simple yet curiously provocative premise of a shockingly beautiful woman shockingly out of touch with the world.
Next up was an animated short film McGee produced called Mi Burro: Esos Hueos, a surrealistic journey through the horrors of a third-world country...

Lucky McKee's May is, not to put too fine a point on it, one of the best horror films of the last decade. Angela Bettis starred in the title role, a lonely young lady who is moved to extreme measures in her search for a friend. Bettis and McKee later reteamed on the Masters of Horror episode Sick Girl and the short film Blue Like You, as well as in inverted roles when Bettis directed McKee in Roman. Furthermore, McKee's failure to secure Bettis a role seems to have played a part in his rescinding directorship of the adaptation of Jack Ketchum's Red during production. Those of us waiting for the beautiful alchemy of McKee, Bettis and Jack Ketchum to make its way to the big screen in an unadulterated form have just received some great news as they're all lined up to collaborate on Offspring: The Woman,...
