Despite all the criticism directed towards the series’ fanservice and the subsequently worsening animation of the anime, Nakaba Suzuki’s The Seven Deadly Sins is a well-known manga title with a solid fanbase. The series does offer some interesting shonen moments and fans of the series have managed to filter out the not-so-good aspects in order to see the true essence of the story. The manga received a sequel in the form of the Four Knights of the Apocalypse manga, which follows a new generation of heroes while revealing what happens to the old ones.
The sequel manga is still ongoing, with 15 volumes as of the time of writing; the manga premiered in 2021. An anime adaptation premiered on October 8, 2023, and ended its first season with 22 episodes. First season, you say?! As the year winds down, it’s time to look back at Netflix’s biggest hits, and today, we begin by looking into what kids’ TV shows picked up the most points in the Netflix top 10s over the past 12 months.
This list is compiled using FlixPatrol data collected from the daily top 10s on Netflix from over 80 countries around the globe. They assign points and values to each title that gets featured on any day. Their data isn’t perfect as their method doesn’t quite fully capture the complexity of viewership data, such as total watch time, repeat viewings, or demographic details of the audience. Also worth noting is that Netflix changed up its top 10 metrics midway through the year to favor views over pure viewing hours. That said, their data provides a pretty accurate snapshot of what performed best over a long period.

“So, this year, we’re taking our slightly more earned confidence and running with it. We’ve got moon-shot hopes and out-of-left-field predictions for the 2024 Academy Awards, and while some of them might seem wild now, we’ll see who’s laughing when Barbie takes home Best Picture. Here’s everything—in alphabetical order—that’ll have our vote next year.”

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown is set to lead another franchise for Netflix in the new movie Damsel.
“Millie Bobby Brown has become something of a Netflix fixture. She rose to prominence as our favorite Demogorgon-slaying, nose-bleeding heroine Eleven in Stranger Things, and then starred in a reimagining of Sherlock Holmes in which she played his little, but feisty, sister Enola. Now,...

After 25 years as the headliner of the Pokémon series, Ash Ketchum is on his way out. The Pokémon Company has announced that Ash's story will end in a special mini-series starting in January 2023 with an all-new cast taking over the series that spring. Whether Ash will truly disappear for good or be demoted to mentor or side-character status is currently unclear. I certainly couldn't imagine that the eminently marketable Pikachu would disappear from the screen for very long. Regardless, this is a turning point. Ash and his Pikachu have been the main characters of the anime series since 1997, and multiple generations have grown up with him as their protagonist. His departure would be the greatest change to the status quo in the history of the Pokémon anime.
Or would it?

Now that he’s officially become the very best, like no one ever was, Ash Ketchum is heading into retirement. The long-running and perpetually 10 year-old star of the beloved “Pokémon” anime will exit the series with an upcoming 11-episode run airing in Japan this January, the Pokémon Company announced Friday.
In his place, two new protagonists, Liko and Roy, will be introduced in a new series set in the Paldea region, first seen in this year’s Generation IX “Pokémon” games “Scarlet and Violet.” The series will premiere sometime later in 2023, and feature the starters from the game: Sprigatito (a grass cat), Fuecoco (a fire-breathing crocodile baby), and Quaxly (a water duck).
The news of Ash’s retirement from the anime comes a month after the Japanese airing of the 132nd episode of the “Pokémon Journeys” series, and the 1,217th episode of the anime overall, which saw Ash (voiced in...

Anime is full of underdog stories, whether in sports shows like "Hajime no Ippo" where the thrill is watching a newcomer rise to the top, or in action shows where we follow a young boy hone his skills, gain huge power, and take on the world despite insurmountable odds. When it comes to "Pokémon," however, the 25-year-old franchise has not followed traditional underdog tropes. Instead, the anime has properly prepared kids for the disappointments of the real world. The show teaches that no matter how much you train or how much you want to succeed,...

Tributes have been paid across social media to voice actor Billy Kametz, following his death from colon cancer.
The 35-year-old actor was well-known within the anime and video game industry. He also voiced characters in anime series such as Attack on Titan, Boruto, Demon Slayer, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (Josuke Higashkata), Pokémon Journeys (Ren) and Neon Genesis Evangelion (Shigeru Aoba).
Kametz was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and got his break with Disney as part of the entertainment staff on the Disney cruise line. He later moved to California when he was offered the role of Aladdin in Disneyland’s Musical Spectacular.
Earlier this year, he announced he would be taking a break from acting and moving home to Hershey, Pennsylvania, following his cancer diagnosis.
