With mystical lands and mythology, this records a performance from world famous taiko troupe - Kodo. Alongside landscapes of Sado island, that have remained unchanged over thousands of years, depicts the past and even the entire universe.
A new audiovisual experience by Toshiaki Toyoda, who went to Sado Island to film musician Koshiro Hino and Kodo, the local Taiko Performing Arts Ensemble while they performed music composed especially for Shiver. A rhythmic, hypnotizing and very musical film that tells its story through just sound and image, without dialogue.
A music film that shows off the astonishing performance of a world famous taiko troupe-Kodo. Kodo is based on Sado, an island located off the coast of Niigata Prefecture in central Japan. They spend a third of the year touring the world, touring Japan and the rest of the year on Sado. A contemporary musician Koshiro Hino stayed on the island for a month and composed songs for Kodo. With mystical lands and mythology as background, from the quiet swells in the first half to the loud sounds in the second, the entirety of the film is a record of the performance of these pieces. Arts and lifestyles from Kyoto had spread to Sado from ancient times. The vision of present-day Kodo alongside landscapes of Sado that have remained unchanged over thousands of years depicts the past and even the entire universe.
