Lee Willoughby: Young Man (short 'De Verwondering')

Quotes

  • Young Man (short 'De Verwondering') : A pandemic doesn't scare me, but death does. We all discover that. The end. But that's actually pretty sure. The end doesn't even have to be the end. Maybe we'll just keep playing. I want to embrace the ending, but don't want to think about it. I think the ending is fucking scary. I'm just a guy from The Hague. It keeps me busy. Somehow I also find the ending quite strange. I have looked it up, according to Plato the wonder of life is even the origin of all philosophies. In our amazement we look at the world as if we were seeing it for the first time. Where all goes without saying. Sometimes I think, what have I got to lose? But then I don't follow my dreams. What if today were my end? That I got up today and realize that it is the last time. That idea makes me sad. So many people I love. Will I be remembered or would I slowly disappear? For example, do people disappear from their daily routines who slowly forget that the end exists at all? Will I suffer? Could that be the only time I'm alive? Can I ever start to feel alive again? Is there an ending or is everything everlasting and the end just the horizon?
