Great action; but show fraught with military mis-steps
grlym-468499 March 2021
The show continues to be on point with compelling action scenes.

However, everything is law is a train wreck. Plot lines are all over the place. And the STAR OF THE SHOW is ruining the show. His character never evolves. But the Hollywood version of military tries to make it like he is correct. I think whoever used to advise on military basics quit or was fired.

Huge annoying plot lines that ignore military law: Military hierarchy (Sgt Hayes unprofessional banter with everyone who outranks him). I think the star ratings f the show /exec producer role wants to be seen as a bad @ss more than deliver a top tier show like it started out in season 1.

Fraternization (sonny and the Lt). Moving to a mew assignment doesn't make it ok. By ucmj, only instant love/marriage makes it lawful. It's the military, not civilian life

Script with family interactions - military families 101 understand way more than what the writers in this show do. Dealing with deployments, kids and spouses know the role of a military family. So write a script that helps show this. OR the simple rule of never distract the military person going into the field with distractions.

Having the season just repeat old plot arcs from prior season is pathetic.

'Changes'

Warning: Spoilers
All the changes that are coming and that have arrived in Bravo give such a refreshing feel and keeps me coming back for more. If I didn't admit it to myself before I'm a SEAL team fan move.

We are finally introduced to Mandy's 'replacement' and I was a bit surprised she was Navy and not CIA. She seems to be a good fit and looking forward to seeing more of her and Ray's work in Special Activities. Ray's order is affecting him and I'm glad the show doesn't just throw it out after one or two episodes. I've seen shows that characters went through something traumatic and they just tossed it aside as if nothing happened.

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to Lisa and Sonny. I don't want them to just forget about their relationship because of a pregnancy. Give me something unexpected. Brace yourselves for separation anxiety with Mandy, Blackburn, Lisa, and Ray moving away from Bravo. A good episode would 7.5. Just needed something to push it over to an 8

Neil Brown Jr continues to knock it out of the park

Remember the days when the show was about the cases instead of the interpersonal drama? I do. I understand the need for the changing relationships and the emotional morass that ensues. I understand and agree with the need to show military service personnel as real people whose jobs have serious, unhealthy effects. I understand that Stella and Naiima demonstrate only the tip of the iceberg of the powerful tides military families struggle with. Still, I prefer the gung ho episodes more.

(And pregnancy? Really? With some many other contextual difficulties those two could have, we have to stretch for a cliche? )
