The 25-minute documentary short Life After Manson premiered during the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, and with the 45th anniversary of the Manson Family killings having just passed, we thought now was a good time to share our interview with the film's director, Olivia Klaus.
While attending this year's Tff in New York City, Dread Central spoke with Klaus about notorious Manson cult member Patricia Krenwinkle, the subject of her latest project.
Synopsis:
In the 25-minute long Life After Manson, documentary filmmaker Olivia Klaus examines former "Manson girl" Patricia Krenwinkle, still struggling with the enormity and meaning of the notorious crimes she participated in committing as part of the criminal cult of the Charles Manson Family nearly 45 years later. This understated study of the real-life consequences of the much-sensationalized crimes focuses on an elderly Krenwinkle seeking some tentative measure of understanding of, if not peace with, the experience of being in thrall to a charismatic,...

While I'm not particularly a fan of Miley Cyrus's brand of pop sensationalism - like Lady Gaga, she projects an "eccentric" exterior while conveniently crafting songs designed to appeal to the widest audience possible - one positive byproduct of her quest for "indie" cred is that by aligning herself with lesser-known artists, her young fans gain exposure to acts they may not otherwise have become familiar with. Case in point: her bizarre new collaboration with psychedelic rockers The Flaming Lips, a non-music video that's essentially a 5 1/2-minute filmed version of Mad Libs With Miley: LSD Edition. While the Rolling Stone-exclusive clip isn't embeddable at this time, we couldn't resist sharing some of our favorite GIFs from the video, entitled (appropriately enough) "Blonde SuperFreak Steals the Magic Brain." So what's it all about? Shockingly enough, there is a semblance of a plot here. Let's run it down, with an assist...

Settle in for this week's very exciting episode of "When Celebrities Bitch About Roles," featuring special guest stars Juliette Lewis and Evan Rachel Wood.
In today's episode, one-time Academy Award-nominee (1992) Lewis has learned that three-time Academy Award-nominee Amy Adams (2005, 2008, 2010) is up for the lead role in rock n' tragedy biopic "Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can," and she is none too pleased.
Lewis took her sense of injustice and general disharmony to Twitter, where she let her fans know just how she feels about the whole situation: "Ummm not to be biased but Amy Adams playing Janis Joplin? Can u think of someone who's a little more suited to play his role? I can. : )"
Her acolytes Tweeted back their support that the "Natural Born Killers" actress was a natural choice, especially given her recent hoarse-voiced musical output. One buddy seemed to be open to other possibilities, though: actress...
