Goodbye Earl Warning: Spoilers
I am unsure of what to think or feel, I think the psychologist is portrayed less than swimminingly, first off she comes across as very disagreeable, egotistical, and generally unpleasant.

Ted has had a previous bad experience with a psychologist the show does nothing to prove to him that all psychologist don't have something off about them.

Furthurmore I feel the show gives off the impression that psychologists can solve a persons issues in a single session, I have never been to a psychologist nor do I have need of one, so perhaps I am wrong in this assessment but that is not how I think psychology works, for the human brain is not wired, so far as my understanding goes, to change it's ways easilly.

All in all it wasn't a bad first episode, though a departure from what Season 1 was all about. I wonder will the psychologist lady be the Rebecca of Season 2, in that she was not particularly likeable at the start but grows on us and is a beloved character by the end? Or is it going to be the opposite. Where she changes not, but Ted has his mind changed, dear me would I dislike that pathway, Ted Lasso (the show) has surprised me positively before so hopefully this will be one of these times. I couldn't stand it if Ted learns to respect all psychologists while the psychologist herself doesn't grow, i.e by letting go of her own egotism.

Fine start

Warning: Spoilers
Overall it was a nice, enjoyable episode. Although there wasn't any groundbreaking stuff, it had a few good laughs and a lot of charm. I did have some problems with the way the therapist was portrayed. Like therapy is some kind of wonder drug that fixes all your problems in one sitting. I think that 'yips' thing could have been developed further, and I would have like for Dani to have really 'overcome' something. Instead of the session just being a magical black box that immediately solves the central problem of the first episode.

Lighten Up Peeps

It's only the first episode. Was it a flawless start to season 2? Absolutely not. Was it a train wreck? N to the O on that as well. If I had to say, it's probably somewhere in between. And if I'm not mistaken, the first episode of season 1 started in familiar territory. So let's give it a few more episodes before drawing the long bow.

Ted Lasso is Beautiful
Maxidelgado_1923 July 2021
This series manages to make us fall in love with every character, the story is really beautiful and I'm so happy that season 2 is finally here, the first episode was really funny and it also had a lot of beautiful moments that made my heart feel so good, I am so excited for the rest of the season. Amazing episode.

I'm worried
logbinder23 July 2021
Season one was top notch. It had clear storyline, the plot was clearly outlined right from the first episode. I watched the first episode of the season 2 and it felt like there is no direction for the second season really. It felt like show being carrying on just because it was good in the first season so let's just throw more money at what's been working... Fingers crossed the whole season is good, but episode one had me worried.

Glad to have this show back. Strong comedy, strong references, just enjoyable. Not sure on some of the storylines, but it is early so we'll give it time.

Spoilt by the sports therapist
Saadsak28 July 2021
Stupid, confrontational and then she turns out to be a mirical worker.. If it had not been for her I would have given the show 9/10

But other than that the show was warm and funny. And it was nice to see Nat cracking the whip.

Ted "How can we help Dani get back on form"?

Nat " Show him his pay packet."

Roll on episode 2.

Season 1 set high standards
UPCritic23 July 2021
Maybe expectations were too high after a magnificent season 1.

This one's off to a rocky start, but let's see where this goes.

PUT MORE FOOTBALL
felipefranklin25 July 2021
I KNOW THAT TED LASSO IS ABOUT COMEDY, PERSONAL PROBLEMS, LOVE and FOOTBALL.

BUT I THINK THE screenwriters need to put more football scenes, more day to day of the players, more training.

Disappointing start
KS9829 July 2021
Loved Season 1 from start to finish, couldn't praise it high enough! Hilarious, fantastic lines, brilliant delivery, wonderful friendships all round great! Couldn't wait to watch Season 2 and it just wasn't the same. The lines are more predictable, the newer characters are difficult to like (I know its only episode 1!) it just doesn't have the same warmth, humour and unique qualities that made it unmissable. Will watch the next episode and just hope it goes back to what I loved about it in the first place.

What a heart warming show Great chemistry between the cast Plus not many shows could pull of a Gin Blossoms name drop!

Looking forward to many more laughs through the shows run .

Silly episode

Warning: Spoilers
Ok - not the best episode here. Killing a dog during the game? Hm... but dr. Sharon does seem like a very interesting figure on a team where it's filled with a lot of cheerfulness. Interested to see how her addition goes!

Strong start
idrincon24 July 2021
After a few spectacular episodes last season, the first episode of season two needed a few minutes to kick off but it delivered. Ted is his usual self but for the first time he looks vulnerable and clueless as to what to do with one of his key players going through a crisis. The solution comes from the outside, something he is not so sure about.

Maybe we are looking at the first cracks of his almighty optimism? We'll see.

Same feel good Ted Lasso!
jkent-6027123 July 2021
The premiere of season 2 had a very strong start, I liked that it wasted no time getting us back into Richmond FC action. This episode had very solid writing and quite a few laughs early on, however I feel like the final 10 minutes lacked the same energy and the conclusion was a little underwhelming. Overall though it was still very enjoyable and gave us a good introduction into the season!

Let's talk Lasso
worldbfreer23 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The triumphant return is, well, like the Richmond team. It's all, for now, a bit recessed and second rate. The jokes are there but try too hard (cue soccer scenes). The team has 8 ties in a row (that's going to end) and Ted doesn't have all the answers. Everybody is trying to establish new narratives (it's a show, not real life) and they're fascinating but clunky. It all culminates with the psychologist righting the ship (we all think Ted needs some post-break-up counseling, right?). Firm footing is the end game, let's enjoy the ride.

Yikes..
rallder1924 July 2021
First season was so strong. I actually turned a bunch of people on to this show because it was so good.

This first episode of Season 2 fell short for me. I actually found myself wishing Ted would just stop talking half the time.

Season 1 had a very rich story and a bunch of factors that were albeit resolved upon the season finale.. so far, just based on this first episode, it seems like they're just.. continuing.

The episode felt pretty pointless and I found myself cringing a ton.. I really hope that the season gets better.

"Top up my rosé please, Janice?"
ucyznmtx23 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Roy is a unique character and a fan favourite from the first season. He makes a great return showing a mix of British grit and softness, now managing an under 9s girls team and socialising with a group of yoga moms.

One of these moms is Janice. Janice needs extradited from the UK in episode 2. Sent to somewhere far away, without alcohol, like the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Roy, showing disapproval at the moms approval of Jamie on the show's Love Island equivalent, asks for his wine to be topped up. Unless this wine has an equivalent strength to 15 year Glenkinchie, the measure which Janice poured is quite frankly illegal.
