Marvel has released an official photo from their upcoming new series Inhumans. The image give us our first look at the Royal Family, which consists of Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Ken Leung as Karnak, Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, and Iwan Rheon as Maximus. They all look great in their roles!
After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.
I'm excited to see how this series turns out because of how ambitious and epic we've heard it's going to be. During an interview with EW, Showrunner Scott Buck (Dexter, Iron Fist) talks about the series and the way they are approaching the story explaining, “We approach these [characters] all as real people...

Marvel's Inhumans series is currently shooting in Hawaii, and today we have a bunch of photos from the set and a video for you to check out. They give us our first look at actor Anson Mount in the role of Black Bolt all decked out in black leather, and the coat he's wearing features a lightning bolt-like design on his chest. It's definitely a different character design than the comic version. Then there's a giant blue stand-in for the big 2,000 pound pet dog Lockjaw. The dog will obviously be a CG animated creation. It's gotta fun acting alongside a big blue model of a dog! Check out the photos and video below!

This past week Marvel has bombarded us with casting new for their ambitious Inhumans series. So far we've got Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels) playing Balck Bolt, Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) playing Maximus the Mad, Serinda Swan (Smallville) taking on the role of the queen, Medusa, and Ken Leung playing Karnak, Black Bolt’s cousin and closest advisor.
The studio has now announced the rest of the main cast of the series, which will include the roles of Gorgon, Crystal, Triton, and Auran. Below you'll find a breakdown of each of these characters and who is playing them:
Eme Ikwuakor (“Concussion,” “Extant”) as Gorgon – Cousin of Black Bolt (Anson Mount), member of the Royal family, and leader of Attilan’s military. With super strong legs, complete with hooves, he can generate destructive seismic waves with a single stomp. The yin to his cousin Karnak’s (Ken Leung) yang, Gorgon...

Marvel is quickly bulking up the cast for their Inhumans series. We've got Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels) playing Balck Bolt, Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) playing Maximus the Mad, and Serinda Swan (Smallville) taking on the role of the queen, Medusa. The latest edition to the cast in former Lost actor Ken Leung, who recently worked on NBC's The Night Shift and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
According to Variety, he will take on the role of a character named Karnak. He is Black Bolt’s cousin and closest advisor. "His gift is an ability to see the fault in all things — people, plans, structures, everything. He’s Black Bolt’s most ardent supporter and strategist and is often seen as the royal family’s planner and philosopher."

Marvel’s upcoming series Inhumans has just cast one of its lead actresses. Smallville alum Serinda Swan will take on the role of Medusa, the Queen of the Inhumans and wife of Black Bolt (Anson Mount) in the series. If for some reason you don't recognize her, Swan caught the eyes of fanboys everywhere when she played Zatanna in Smallville.
The character is described as being Black Bolt’s most trusted advisor, "a fiercely resilient warrior who has the ability to move and control her hair the way most people use their hands and fingers."
Marvel TV head and executive producer Jeph Loeb had this to say in a statement to EW:
"Serinda empowers Medusa’s regal glory and still maintains a relatability that synced perfectly with the character. She is nothing short of wonderful."
Showrunner Scott Buck added:
"Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense...

Hell on Wheels star Anson Mount has been cast in the lead role of Black Bolt in Marvel's upcoming cosmic superhero series The Inhumans. Black Bolt is the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, who has a voice that's so powerful the slightest whisper can destroy a city.
For years Vin Diesel was linked to this role when Marvel was making the movie. With this TV series happening now, though, I don't think we'll be seeing that movie anytime soon, if ever.
I don't know if any of you have watched Hell on Wheels, but it's a great show worth checking out, and Mount does a solid job in it. He's no Vin Diesel, but I think he'll do a great job in the role of Black Bolt. When talking about the actor, Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television said:
"Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently.

Marvel has cast their leading man in their upcoming ambitious series Inhumans. Game of Thrones actor Iwan Rheon has been cast in the role of Maximus in the series. Thanks to THR, we have some details on the version of the character in the series, saying:
Inhumans will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family. In the eight-episode straight-to-series drama, Maximus is a clever and charming Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, the King — though he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.
In a statement, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb said:
"Iwan's ability to be charming, roguish and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board," Marvel TV head Loeb said.

Marvel and ABC have hired feature film director Roel Reine to helm the first two IMAX episodes of their new series The Inhumans. Reine has worked on a ton of B-movie film projects such as Death Race 2, The Marine 2, The Lost Tribe, The Scorpion King 3, The Man with the Iron Fists 2, Hard Target 2, and others.
The list of films should give you a good idea of what we can expect from The Inhumans. Those films definitely aren't the greatest movies in the world, but some of them have been fun and entertaining. He's probably not the director I would have gone with, but let's see what he ends up doing with the property and the characters. He must've had a great pitch meeting with Marvel, otherwise he wouldn't have landed the gig.

Initially announced last February, New Line Cinema's in-the-works remake of the New Zealand horror comedy Housebound now has a screenwriter.
The Tracking Board reports that Christopher Borrelli has been hired to pen the remake of Gerard Johnstone's Housebound (which Lord of the Rings and Dead Alive filmmaker Peter Jackson was a big fan of). Borrelli's writing credits include Whisper, The Marine 2, Eloise, and The Vatican Tapes.
Johnstone is still attached as a producer for the remake, with Dave Neustadter and Walter Hamada supervising the project for New Line as it develops.
Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more updates. For those unfamiliar with the original Housebound movie, we have its official synopsis and trailer below. Do you want to see a remake of Housebound?

Take one classic 90s action movie, featuring one of the most iconic action heroes of the decade and directed by a king of the genre. Throw in a two-decade wait and a British action star who is almost single-handedly keeping the old-school Dtv vibe alive (and doing a damn good job of it may I add); and you have Hard Target 2.
Twenty-three years. Has it really been that long? I remember the hype around John Woo’s Hard Target – you couldn’t pick up an issue of Impact Magazine for a least a year beforehand without some mention of the film amongst its pages. It’s actually very surprising that we didn’t get a sequel sooner.

I know that the folks here at ScreenAnarchy (or is it Screen Anarchy? Space or no space?) have long been big fans of martial artist Scott Adkins. I wonder if any of them knew that there was a sequel for John Woo's calling card for Hollywood, Hard Target? And that it stars Scott Adkins. A trailer for Hard Target 2 dropped out of nowhere the other day, like, no one knew it was coming. I just sat there staring at my screen and said, "Really?". This sequel was directed by Dutch director Roel Reine who has done a tonne of straight to video sequels of franchizes that started with a theatrical release then everything after the first film was Dtv. The Marine 2. Death...

Like The Marine franchise, which featured a new WWE superstar in the lead role in each consecutive film, The Condemned 2 sees Randy Orton (who also took over the lead from John Cena for 12 Rounds 2) stars as bounty hunter turned hunted man, Will Tanner; and – like Orton’s 12 Rounds 2 – this film pales in comparison to the original, abandoning everything that made that Running Man-esque action film so much fun.
The Condemned was one of WWE Studios earliest – and best received – movies, alongside The Marine and See No Evil. And whilst those two films have already had sequels, it’s taken almost ten years for someone to put together a sequel to the Stone Cold Steve Austin starring original.

I was a huge fan of the first film in what now looks to be a burgeoning new martial arts film franchise. The Man With the Iron Fists was everything I love about martial arts movie and was obviously a labour of love for its star and Wu_Tang Clan member RZA. Sadly, despite the out-pouring of love from wuxia fans and internet geeks like myself, the film did not perform as well as I’m sure the studio would’ve liked. But that doesn’t stop the franchise from continuing as a direct-to-market series – and so we have The Man With the Iron Fists 2.

"You tell them I am here." Adding more demonic exorcism and found footage to the growing pile of tired horror is the new trailer for The Vatican Tapes. However, the film seems to employ a mix of found footage and basic narrative filmmaking as it follows a young woman (Olivia Taylor Dudley) possessed by some kind of dark force that catches local priest Father Lozano (Michael Pena) off guard, prompting him to call in experts from The Vatican to help. But what they encounter is far more sinister than any average demon as it appears the antichrist has arrived. It's another typical exorcism horror thriller. Watch below! In 2000, WWE superstar The Rock took some time off from wrestling to film a small role in The Mummy Returns. The success of that movie eventually led to The Rock leaving WWE for the superstardom of Hollywood as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, turning from wrestling champion to box office champion.
WWE owner Vince McMahon saw The Rock’s Hollywood success as an opportunity to expand his pro wrestling empire. He established what would later be named WWE Studios, an in-house production studio that would make feature films starring WWE wrestlers.
What McMahon didn’t bank on is that few WWE wrestlers have the crossover appeal of The Rock. After all, McMahon already unsuccessfully attempted to turn 1980s wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan into a movie star with the 1989 film No Holds Barred.

Just like "Jarhead 2: Field Of Fire," we're not sure why these decisions are made, or by whom, but for some reason, Universal has decided it's in their best interest to make a sequel to "The Man With The Iron Fists." The much hyped martial arts flick, directed by genre enthusiast and Wu-Tang Clan member RZA, was a resounding disappointment and box office failure, but at the very least, this followup includes his involvement. Titled "The Man With The Iron Fists: Sting Of The Scorpion," Roel Reiné — a specialist at this sort of thing with "The Marine 2," "Death Race 3: Inferno," and "The Scorpion King 3: Battle For Redemption" among his credits — directs the movie co-written by RZA and John Jarrell ("Romeo Must Die") that seems to involve more gangs fighting each other. There are no actual plot details, which hardly matters, since the first movie barely made any sense anyway,...

And like it’s WWE Studios stable-mate The Marine (which also starred John Cena), this sequel bares no relation to the original film besides the “rounds” format – featuring all new characters, new situations and a new cast.
This time round (groan) Randy Orton stars as paramedic Nick Malloy, who finds himself caught in a deadly 12-round game of cat and mouse with a vigilante tied to the paramedic’s past. With little time to...

Roel Reine’s “12 Rounds: Reloaded” is the sequel-in-name-only to the 2009 movie “12 Rounds” starring WWE wrestler Jon Sena. The direct-to-dvd sequel stars another WWE wrestler, this time Randy Orton, playing an Emt who gets roped into a life-and-death game with a maniac named Heller (Brian Markinson), who is intent on righting some wrongs by killing a lot of people, including our hero’s wife if he doesn’t play along. It appears the WWE is intent on launching in-name-only franchises, with “12 Rounds” following in the footsteps of “The Marine”, each film starring the WWE’s stable of popular wrestlers. (Reine, by the way, also directed “The Marine 2″, which according to Reine, was originally supposed to star Orton.) The film opens with Emt hero Nick Malloy (Orton) doing what heroes do: jumping into action when a car accident happens right in front of him. Flash-forward to one-year later, and Nick’s...

Say it ain't so! For better or worse, it appears that the directing duo known as Neveldine/Taylor have decided to go their separate ways, each branching out to direct a movie on their own. Fortunately, this does not appear to be a result of a disagreement or falling out but rather a desire to try something new and potentially grow as filmmakers. Last year we learned that Brian Taylor would be writing and directing a Twisted Metal movie for Sony based on the popular video game series. While that makes a lot of sense based on his experience with insane action movies like the Crank series, Mark Neveldine's own solo effort is a little more surprising. This week it has been announced that he will take on a supernatural thriller called The Vatican Tapes. According to Variety, Lakeshore Entertainment has set Neveldine to direct The Vatican Tapes, a...

Death Race 3: Inferno
Stars: Luke Goss, Danny Trejo, Ving Rhames, Dougray Scott, Tanit Phoenix, Fred Koehler, Robin Shou | Written by Tony Giglio | Directed by Roel Reine
Universal have made quite a stock in trade of taking some of their fan-favourite franchises and cranking out straight to DVD sequels: Darkman, Tremors, The Scorpion King, American Pie hell – even the The Land Before Time series! One of their best current straight to DVD franchises is Death Race… Now in it’s third incarnation, the series is, in this reviewers humble opinion, actually one of the best low-budget action franchises around and despite any misgivings you may have, this third film keeps up the quality.
A sequel to the prequel, helmed once again by Dutch director Roel Reine – who directed the previous film in the franchise; and who seems to be specialising in directing Dtv sequels having lensed The Marine 2, Death Race 2...

Saw I-iii and Piranha 3D star Dina Meyer will be joining Anthony Michael Hall (The Breakfast Club The Dark Knight, Weird Science), Danny Trejo (Machete, Predators) and Mickey Rourke (Sin City) in Dead in Tombstone, the Roel Reine-directed action adventure film that's now filming in Bucharest, Romania. Bloody Disgusting exclusively reported the film back in January. Penned by Shane Kuhn and Brendan Cowles, with revisions by Michael Weiss, "Trejo plays Guerrero Hernandez, the unquestioned leader of the Blackwater Gang of outlaws. But after freeing his half-brother Red (Hall) from prison, Guerrero's plan to loot the mining town of Edendale backfires spectacularly -- because Guerrero is shot to death by his own brother, the treacherous Red. After making a deal with the Devil (Rourke), Guerrero comes back from the dead a year later, to seek his revenge, and the town (which has been renamed Tombstone) will soon have its dusty...

Bloody Disgusting exclusively learned that Roel Reiné, who has directed a slew of direct-to-disc titles including The Marine 2, The Lost Tribe, The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption, Death Race 2 and Death Race: Inferno, is getting behind the camera for Dead in Tombstone. Lensing this March in Bucharest, Romania, the director has made a deal with the Devil to make yet another title for Universal Pictures. No word on if there is a theatrical plan for this sucker. Penned by Shane Kuhn and Brendan Cowles, with revisions by Michael Weiss, we're told the film follows the protagonist Guerrero Hernandez, the leader of the Blackwater Gang of outlaws. Hernandez frees his half-brother Red from a prison, only to be shot in the back. Hernandez makes a deal with the Devil for revenge.

It seems insane that The Mummy franchise has spawned six movies over the past decade, and yet, here we are. The IMDb Trivia section for The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption points out that it is "a sequel to a prequel to a prequel of a sequel of a remake" so at least it has that going for it. You may recall that the Scorpion King (first played by Dwayne Johnson) was a villain in The Mummy Returns who made a deal with Anubis, god of the underworld, to be his eternal servant in exchange for revenge. The Rock became a good guy when he reprised his role in the first Scorpion King spin-off, and was then replaced with Michael Copon (Power Rangers: Time Force) for part 2. Now the same character will be played by Victor Webster (Castle). The Scorpion King 3 supposedly takes place between The Scorpion King 1 and 2, but to be honest,...

The cinematic treatment of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde has been varied. Fredric March’s benchmark portrayal of the character in 1931 remains the high water mark, though Spencer Tracy has tried his hand at it and the less said about 1995′s Dr Jekyll & Ms Hyde the better. The main point here is that it has been a really long time since the story was told well on the big screen. Cameos for Jekyll & Hyde in Lxg and Van Helsing did what is a fascinating and complex character scant justice and so Hammer Films enter the fray.
Off the back of Let Me In, The Resident, Wakewood and The Woman In Black, Hammer are now eying a remake of the Jekyll & Hyde tale, currently working with the title “Wake”. Such an unarresting title seems an odd choice, given how well known the name Jekyll is, but to each their own.

Need someone to direct your second or third-tier thriller with absolutely no voice and only the most perfunctory sense of style and execution? Look no further than Mikael Håfström. THR reports that the man behind the undercooked "Derailed," the silly "1408," the scare-less "The Rite" and the still unreleased, and presumed to be awful "Shanghai" will take the reins of the Hammer Films production "Wake." Christopher Borelli ("The Marine 2") and Matt Sand ("Ninja Assassin"), whose CVs speak for themselves, have penned the tale about "a sociopath who is incapable of feeling fear." Sigh. No other word on this yet.…...

“Primevil”, not to be confused with a number of other recent similarly titled creature features, was originally released as “The Lost Tribe”, and was presumably renamed to suggest less anthropology and more horror. Though depressingly generic, the new title is actually kind of fitting, being the original working moniker for “Predator”, a film which director Roel Reiné quite openly attempts to ape, along with various others such as “The Descent”. Reiné has a reasonable career in direct to DVD schlock, having helmed sequels “Scorpion King: Rise Of the Dead”, “Death Race 2” and “The Marine 2”, though this time at least has the backing of a high profile producer in Irvin Kershner (“Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back”). Boasting a slightly higher than average budget for this kind of affair, the film also features a decent cast including Brianna Brown (also in the underrated backwoods chiller “Timber Falls...

00:00:00: Death Race 2, also known as Death Race: Frankenstein Lives, is the direct to DVD prequel to 2008's Death Race, which was allegedly a prequel to 1975's Death Race 2000. It's not a video game movie, but it damn well should be. Death Race 2 gives us the backstory on the character Frankenstein, the mysterious metal-faced driver who died in the first scenes of Death Race. I don't want to type the word Death Race anymore. Our Blockbuster gift card was sacrificed to the lone rental store still located in Burbank. I pulled and pulled on the handle, wondering why the hell the store was closed at 9 Pm on a Tuesday. That's when the employee gestured that it was a Push door. I had finally entered the proper level of mental mediocracy to appreciate this fine piece of cinematic entertainment. On Unrated Blu-ray no less.

Somewhere, somehow, the powers-that-be decided the gap in the cinematic vehicular manslaughter market could only be filled by a low-budget straight-to-dvd prequel to Paul W.S. Anderson’s Death Race (2008) prequel. Oversexed and underwhelming, Death Race has clawed its way back, out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Jason Statham, presumably inundated with scripts for the likes of Crank 3, Transporter 4 and The Expendables 2, has bowed out, clearing the way for fellow balding Brit Luke Goss (half of the pop duo Bros). Anderson is also previously engaged (perhaps only destined to return for the inevitable 3D instalment) leaving the reigns in the hands of Dutch filmmaker Roel Reiné (The Marine 2).
In 2008, Anderson’s Death Race similarly described itself as a prequel to Death Race 2000. Set in a futuristic dystopian American society, the original sees Sylvester Stallone and the late David Carradine as participants in the Transcontinental Road Race,...

It’s Sammo Hung who deserves the kudos for this sequel.
It may be Donnie Yen’s reprisal of Ip Man, the man who would mentor Bruce Lee if you’re unfamiliar with this man’s provenance, who is bringing the same kind of furious fists and feet that he brought to the first film or director Wilson Yip’s fresh take on a genre that has been beaten like the prunish face of any man coming out of the well-choreographed fight sequences but it’s really all about the action when it comes to Ip Man 2. The Film:
Let’s race.
I doubt if in 1975 that Roger Corman knew he would have a franchise on his hands. While technically Death Race is not really on his hands anymore, it’s a franchise now, thanks to Death Race 2 and all because of Frankenstein. The original Death Race 2000 featured Sly Stallone and David Carradine (as Frankenstein) in what would become a cult hit, and throughout the years would seemingly be ready for remake land with today’s effects and budgets, and that’s exactly what Paul W.S. Anderson did in 2008. Now, much like the corporate greed depicted in the films, a calling for a new film from Universal Studios – a prequel to the remake which was meant to be a homage/prequel in itself (you get this?) – comes with engines roaring.
Luckily for Frankenstein and on-lookers, Death Race 2 doesn’t crash and burn, but instead...

You ready for some more “Death Race”? Hopefully the answer is yes, or this prequel to the Paul W.S. Anderson remake of the Roger Corman original is going to sit very lonely on that local video store shelf. “Death Race 2” is officially a prequel, and its big hook is that it explores the origins of Death Race, though you’ll have to wait about 50 minutes before anyone hops into a souped up car and tries to blow each other to smithereens. The film is directed by Roel Reine, who seems to have become the go-to guy for direct-to-dvd sequels, with “The Marine 2” to his credit and “The Scorpion King: Rise of the Dead” on his plate. The kinda futuristic sequel stars Luke Goss (“Blade 2″) as Carl Lucas, a getaway driver whose latest job goes predictably awry. Lucas gets sent to Terminal Island, a privately run prison that belongs...

That's right, sidewalk shitters! Even though Universal's Death Race 2 hasn't even left the starting line, it looks as if the studio that horror saved is looking to offer up a trilogy!
According to Movie Hole, based on the initial worldwide reception to Death Race 2 (releasing in most territories over the next few weeks) the studio’s home entertainment division has put Death Race 3 into development.
Believe it or not, there's been a lot of positive word of mouth surrounding the prequel. Then again, is it really that hard to make a better film than Paul Anderson did based on the same material?
