Left me feeling sad
jasminn_tan5 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I did not expect the ending at all... I really liked the world building and art style, and the animation is amazing honestly. The plot development was so good too and I think that this is both a plot and character driven anime. The character development of the main character, David was good and I really liked the found family trope in this. He had always been an outcast and finally, for a while he belonged somewhere. So for him to basically lose everyone dear to him was very heartbreaking. About his romance with Lucy, I gotta be honest, I didn't really care about it and I much preferred watching the development of his relationship with his crew. His entire crew had died by the end of the 10 episodes and the final episode was seriously such a shock to me. Like David had always just given and given and given and he was gone too soon. So depressing.

A unique and unforgetable experience!
and_mikkelsen17 September 2022
I went into this show expecting a cool sci-fi experience! Instead i got a rollercoaster ride that i wont soon forget! They really did a great job of creating a vibe and atmosphere that you wont get anywhere else!

Oh and NO.. YOU dont need to be familiar with the game to enjoy or understand this show! I knew zero about the game and i love this show! A shame we only got 10 episodes, because you never want this show to end!

Animation and visuals in particular was the highlights, but so was the story and characters! Even soundtrack was strangely good! Gonna listen to some of the songs!

At this point i see a show that has yet to get the attention it deserves!

You know a show is good when the only conplaint is there isn't enough of it
IslandMyst14 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The show is great. The only real qualm I have is that it scales up to epic proportions way too fast. The last episode should have been something we would see in season 4 of a show.

I would have preferred something of a smaller scale that really shows all the intricate details of what it's like to live in Night City. I felt like the fixer, voiced by Gus from Breaking Bad would have been a sufficient final boss for the season. Instead of having them go againsy the most powerful guy in the Cyberpunk universe. Perhaps it was because theybweren't planning more seasons, but Cyberpunk is way too big for just ten episodes mostly focusing on cyberpsychosis and cybernetic upgrades.

They managed to get details from the game like the city, map and weapons so well. I'd have like to have seen everyone's backstories. It would have given more meaning to help connect with them.

I compare this to something like as fantastic as Castlevania. But imagine Trevor and the others defeat Dracula and it's over in 10 episodes. But you know a show is good when the only complaint is there isn't enough of it.

Not a big "anime guy" to begin with, but this was fun from start to finish.
cthesz13 September 2022
Like the title of my review states, I am not a big anime guy. I loved Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in a Shell during my teen years but never really found anything after that that grabbed my attention. Until a friend told me to watch AoT (Attack on Titan) which becane one of my favorite shows of all time.

I was one of the few people that genuinely enjoyed my time in Night City when Cyberpunk 2077 released. That being said I am sure it helped that I had a PC with the capability to play the game on all of its highest settings.

This show is a wild ride through Night City that never let's up from episode 1 all the way to the final moments of episode 10. I knew that the show was in development but was presently surprised when I turned on Netflix today (my day off) wondering what I was going to watch and it was just waiting there for me. I watched it from begging to end with a small break to cook food somewhere in the middle of the show. I found the story and the characters to be fun and intriguing. I also found it to be a breath of fresh air when it became apparent (very quickly) that this show wasn't going to play it safe or pull its punches.

After finishing my hope is that we will get to go back to Night City and see some more action. Very fun, will watch it again and I hope we get a renewal.

P. S. Yes it's animated, no it's not for kids. It's TV MA and it takes every advantage of that.

Give it a try, you won't regret it
ITALUKE13 September 2022
I'm keeping this spoiler free and sticking to the Netflix show, you're not here to get a review of the game. I'm a huge lover of the game (pre-ordered it and played it on my Ps4 and once I got a Ps5 played it again with a console that could actually run the game) so if you are like me you will love the show. The show is easily the best anime I've ever seen, the characters are all well written, the original dubbing is good and the animation style is amazing. What grants it a crown, other than the plot, it's how it shows a well know world (the Cyberpunk world) and it managez to introduce people that have never heard of the game to this amazing world. Seen it with my girlfriend that had never seen the game and she loved it aswell. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

Been waiting for a show like this
jamesrobinson-9223314 September 2022
I hear this is based on a game?

Well anyways, I've never played it. It was probably one of the best short run animes I've ever seen. No random useless episodes or scenes, but the character development was off the charts. I can hardly remember names of people, places, or things, but this show had me emotionally invested in every character to the point that if someone wasn't In a scene, I'd wonder what the hell happened to them. I actually signed up for imbd just to write this.

I binged it in a day and I had so many important things I had to do. I don't know if the storyline is finished, but if it isn't, I'll be on my toes waiting for any news of a continuation. At least I finished the show today, I'll be extra busy tomorrow. I wish more shows could be like this. Most shows nowadays have several main but forgettable characters.

Death can have me, when it earns me.

Warning: Spoilers
This adaptation is amazing truly a work of masterpiece! And true to the original game Cyberpunk 2077. A well receive reimagining of night city and its chooms! It deserve the intention that we need to get back and play the latest patch and made me want to replay the game again! Job well done CD projeckt red!

The character and story pacing is done so well. With the game mechanic realistically in the anime! Really does bring you the vibe as playing the game itself. As for David the main character in this story. He is truly a loveable main char! And Lucy as well! Hope that they renew this anime for a second season! Heck trilogy if you must.

A Damn Good Time
B_Plus14 September 2022
If you are familiar with the game Cyberpunk 2077 you will feel right at home as soon as episode one plays. The show nails the atmosphere of Cyberpunk very well which is hard to do. For newcomers however you might feel a bit confused from time to time with: phrases and some old character cameos popping in and out however do not let that deter you from watching this show. The story and pacing is great especially for a show with ONLY 10 EPISODES. Sure there could have been better character development and some more explanation for newcomers but, keep in mind the show length and for me personally they do a great job with what there given and able to work with. OVERALL this show impressed me from the moment I hit play. If your a fan of the game watch it , if your a fan of Ghost in the shell & Blade Runner type science fiction watch it . The dub also is good and the sound effects are also "the chefs kiss". Overall give this show a watch Trigger did a fantastic job not only bringing Cyberpunk to life but, a believable science fiction world that only makes you wish that the show was longer.......9/10.

Fantastic anime for anime lovers and skeptics alike
Peanutman202014 September 2022
This show was absolutely amazing with edge of your seat moments, great characters, and no plot armor for any of the characters. It had great pacing outside two or so episodes, but even those episodes didn't feel like a waste of time. Episodes 6 and 10 are easy 10/10s in my book.

Although the original language is Japanese, I watched the English dub and wow, they did a great job with it. Never noticed any dips regarding lip syncing, dialogue, or voice acting. In fact, they seemed to have planned the English dub cast with thought as they have Matthew Mercer and Giancarlo Esposito among others.

Even if you aren't a big anime person, watch this show. The typical anime tropes aren't there and it really feels like an anime for everyone.

Didn't expect a masterpiece
shawnyu6414 September 2022
Basically expected CP: 2077 at its release state, but somehow got one of greatest anime of all time, which, funny enough, is like exact opposite of how CP: 2077 release went.

I originally didn't like the visual style (like vivid version of Cowboy Bebop) but grew fond of it after an episode or two. Because it turns out that over the top colorful visuals and much darker story underneath makes a great combination, reminiscent of the Nigh City itself... with its sins hidden under pretty colorful neon lights. It also got thrilling scores playing non-stop and these were on point making the overall scene better - not a single moment I thought music is off. And characters are also well constructed and believable in the world they reside, with some developments simply poetic. Overall just great... very easy and pleasant to hold suspension of disbelief until the very end.

The only thing I didn't like is the pacing. There were simply too much story and character development clamped into 10 episodes. Things were developing in such a quick pace and I don't think it gave audiences enough time to bond with the characters. With that being said, presentation is still solid in a rushed pacing so had no problem enjoying it... but can't stop thinking how much better the show would've been if it was a 2 season 24 episodes run.

Oh and a side note... there were also tons of source material and game references like Afterlife, Old Net, Basilisk, Adam Smasher, and gangs etc, but these were self contained so people who're not familiar with the game or universe can also enjoy it.

Surprisingly mediocre given the rave reviews
GraXXoR29 September 2022
I really wanted to like this show. I have played Cyberpunk through twice: once through the happy and and once through an "unhappy" ending and found the latter half of the story compelling.

But I just couldn't get into Edgerunners. It felt to me like it was more a questionable quality namedrop than a serious world building attempt.

The animation quality was poor to middling with what seemed like minutes of stills and 6 fps "straight to TV" animation.

The characters were also far too predictably stereotypical for the genre bordering on ridiculous caricature. With only one clown like goon being anything bordering original.

Lucy was just painful to watch. Don't get me wrong, I love the seedy sexiness of 2077 the game and enjoyed shows which show sex and nudity frankly such as American Gods or (the first series only of) Altered Carbon but found they way this show handled Lucy's purposefully, overtly sexualised character was more just pandering to the lonely male, one-handed watchers that make up a large proportion of our anime viewers than objectively telling her story, with a sizable part of her screen time and indeed our own screen filled with full-screen posterior views and literal closeups of her cameltoe (WTF?)

They tried to make her sexy, sultry and dangerous assassin but turned her into just another anime fan service. Heck, I almost felt sorry how they exploited her despite knowing she's just an animation.

The script itself is nothing more than typical noir pulp aimed at "edgy" Teens / Young Adults but the fact that it set in the entirely Adult (in both senses of the word) ultra violent world of Night City means that it can't seem to find its audience and the childlike, almost Doraemon-like animation style doesn't help.

Decent production aside, this show is typical, run-of-the-mill anime pulp best watched drunk.

Someone above equated the level of this show with that of Arcane and I almost chocked on my beers. Absolutely ridiculous.

If you like low budget, single-male targeted Japanese Anime pulp with poor voice acting : 8/10 If you just like Cyberpunk and Night City: 6/10 If you like Bladerunner : 5/10 If you were expected another League of Legends' Arcane level game adaptation: 3/10.

In conclusion: I guess this show was not made for the people like me who grew up with Pondsmith's Cyberpunk but more for the type of people we were when we began playing, 30 years ago and enjoy Anime.

A great companion for Cyberpunk 2077 and also a great action packed sci-fi anime.
aratondisane13 September 2022
Just finished watching this one on a binge. I gotta say, this brought back times when I first saw Ghost In the Shell. The anime it self really hits all the tones that I love about the genre. The over the top action and brutality, but this time it is packed with a gripping story. While the gory parts remind me of Hellsing (the Anime series), the action is definitely something unique from Studio Trigger.

What I also find interesting about this anime, is the attention to detail and how well it gives you back the visuals of Cyberpunk 2077 and the feeling of being in Night City. It makes the locations and characters very familiar. When you watch the anime and play the game, you can catch locations of interest and bonus items in game. It was a really interesting experience visiting these locations in game especially after finishing all 10 episodes.

The characters don't feel alien to this genre except for Rebecca's character, I my self said: "meh whatever.." she's there for the comedy element which you sometimes really need in the midst of action and drama that the series throws at its viewers.

I would recommend this one to anyone who enjoys sci-fi anime.

An amazing show
garabedian12319 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
That turns to garbage by the end...SIgh.

Hey i loved the first couple of episodes too. But the middle and the ending were pointless. So the main character watches another cyberpunk go crazy while saying it will never happen to me. But then suddenly he is all robot and has lke a million implants and then starts to go crazy.

We get to see Main go crazy then we get to see David go crazy. Its got no twists, or surprises. He just goes crazy as planned and then dies.

There is practically no character development at all after the first few episodes. David wants to be stronger because...well just because. He wants all the implants because..well no reason. If anything i thought he was only going to have san devstan. But no he turns like full cyborg. And i guess he gave up his manhood doing so.

Main was able to and frequently did have sex with his girlfriend. But David, just walks around naked with his girlfriend. They never talk about anyhing or have passion beyond episode 3. They just walk around naked. Pointless nudity. Pointless weird cypberpunk nudity,,,

And they complelely side stepped the beginning. David has visions of Lucy before they even meet. Maybe she was following him...but why? Its never explained or mentioned.

TO summarize once more..IT started amazing and ended in the gutters.

Is there something wrong with me?
dmbarnhamart3 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I mean really? Is there?

Cause almost everything I've watched lately I've either hated or thought 'meh' ... yet so many other folks are 10/10 everything.

Animation wise this is good ... but it's anime we all expect that.

Music was great too. That was the reason I kept watching actually and I was disappointed that it was regulated to mere background ambiance in the last few episodes. Did they run out of original songs? Shame cause I was hanging for more.

As far as story. Nothing special. Very generic. But I can live with that. But what makes a classic story rock are the characters and their interactions.

David was your classic ambitious youth MC --- boring AF, in that regards they picked his voice over artist perfectly, because he was more monotone then me (and I'm friggin monotone, trust me!) The other voice actors range between likeable to good. But the characters are all your stereotypical toons. There was nothing in it for me.

The break neck speed of everything means I didn't feel for anyone, and the cyberpsycho theme seemed to sudden and rushed. I feel like most of the citizens of Night City should've gone crazy by now. The entire show is just one big jacked up rush job. We sped too far through too quickly for me to care about anyone in it and think their decisions were believable. (except David's mum that is)

I don't know. Maybe I should see a doctor and get some depression meds or something, cause I felt nothing throughout all that.

One of the very best Animated Series on Netflix, easily at the level of "Arcane"
royhectorkabanlit18 September 2022
This Series is absolutely Phenomenal, I would put this as one of the very best Animated Series on Netflix, at least at par with "Arcane".

Personally I didn't like the Animation that much, I thought it was too dark and too chaotic at times. However, everything else is great, from the Characterizations, Storylines and Storytelling.

This is truly very Hard Core Science Fiction, they created a World which is beautiful and yet very strange, but also very familiar. You can appreciate the Technology they are using as they are similar to what we have now, but so much more advanced, especially in the field of the Cyberworld.

But I don't think it is for everyone, though. The Action Scenes are great, but they are also a bit too gruesome at times, I think some People will find it that.

Plus the Theme itself is pretty dark, with Crimes, Betrayals, Murders, etc. But if you get past that then you will have one of the most rewarding Series I have ever seen, despite its Bittersweet Ending.

This is one of the Must-See Series for me, if anything it will definitely be a Cult Classic. Yes, another one of those ...

Number one favored enemies of all times
tj_viper1213 September 2022
The storyline is amazing. The graphics are something you don't see anywhere else. What they have done in this anime has brought the game to life. I pray that they'll make more like this. Because there's nothing like it. If you haven't played the game this anime will make you interested in playing the game and if you've played the game it'll make you wanting more for the show and the game. I can't wait to see what's next and I pray there will be more.

The rest of this is just Babble because I can't put anything more without spoiling it. But I need to put 600 fing characters because it won't let me post it without 600 characters which is stupid. I will be waiting this app on the Google Play Store as one star until they fixed this.

Its good
azraell-8014913 September 2022
The storyline is actually good. I expected a real stinker considering where its coming from, but they actually did a good job on this one. The anime is colorful and in a style that make me think of the old anime Cowboy Bebop. They really tried to capture the Night City, and took a lot of Qs from the Cyberpunk 2077 game, and ran with it. The apartments, slums, dialog, everything screams Cyberpunk 2077 and its awesome. If you liked the game Cyberpunk 2077 then this is totally up your alley. Its defiantly one of there better anime and worth a watch. This is so much better than some of the more expensive TV offerings curranty available.

Please season 2 please
rezakiamarsiowner13 September 2022
Hello, watching this anime was very enjoyable and I am very satisfied with the story, script, graphics, design of Night City and the excellent English dubbing. It was all great. I personally enjoyed watching it.

And I am waiting for the second season to continue watching the story of the series. This anime made Netflix successful in the field of anime broadcasting.

Cyberpunk anime is very faithful to its game and comics and tells its own story very beautifully, and the audience can enjoy it if you are a fan of cyberpunk anime or game.

I suggest you to even watch this anime and get high and very good grades after watching it IMDb share it.

Everything the game could have been
byzantineiconoclast13 September 2022
I had mixed feelings going into this anime, because of the bitter taste Cyberpunk 2077 had left me with. I liked the game, I was fortunate enough to be able to play the game, but I couldn't help but feel cheated , because the game I played, was not the one I had been promised for 8 years, and definitely not the one I thought I would play.

So I got into this anime with low expectations. I am glad I've been proven wrong.

This anime is almost everything the game should have been, but wasn't.

Striking animation and visuals : check. Compelling story and interesting characters: check. Riveting on-theme music: check. Fast paced and entertaining: check. True to the Cyberpunk sub-genre: check.

It takes place in Nightcity, as envisioned by Mike Pondsmith and CDPR , only without the bugs and crashes hehe. People who have played the game, will undoubtedly recognize many of Nightcity's neighborhoods, streets, bars etc, which is a plus, because regardless of the status of the game, Nightcity was very striking, and in the anime, it is even better.

It is a very well made, entertaining anime, and the best part is that you don't have to be a Cyberpunk fan to enjoy it, I believe it can be enjoyed by everyone, because it is so well made. A solid 8/10 from me.

Adrenaline Injection!
pablosenna-9072613 September 2022
One of the best animr ever. It's intense, full of action and emotion. The anime is an adrenaline injection and the same time there are emotional parts that made me cry. The animation is a masterpiece, studio trigger is incredible.

The story is very surprising, you don't expect some things are going to happen with the main characters.

Cyberpunk is a very unique genre of science fiction, and I have to say, this anime has all elements of a very good cyberpunk story. We have the social critics, the femme fatale persona, the nihilist characters, the rock music, thr hight tech - low life ambience etc.

The characters are not easy stereotypes, the are people like us, with flows and strengths. But it's a cyberpunk story, it's very difficult to resist the temptations.

I think people will love it, there is a lot of slangs from the series universe to learn, but it will be a easy job to learn during the watch time.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners is definitely an amazing show. I recommend.

Fantastic but it had way more to give.
dubbellok23 October 2022
Everything just went too fast in my opinion.

Normally with a show I would say 3 seasons could have fitted into 1 season. But with this show it's the opposite.

The characters didn't get any time to develop before they were killed off.

When they die you wanted to be sad about it because it felt like it was a big moment. But because it all happened too fast and you barely knew the character you just don't feel anything, which is a shame.

Don't get me wrong it's a fantastic anime. The world building is awesome and overall is just a great watch.

I was just left not longing for more story but having the story spread out more, giving the show a chance to really shine.

Missed opportunity but still a great watch.

when I say I cried
calscanlons14 September 2022
This series genuinely gave me the chills, it was like immersing myself in a world I've been playing in for 2 years it felt so fleshed out, from the world design having so many connotations to the game, to the characters being so well designed and individually indulgent. I feel as if you could easily watch this without playing the game which I loved, it was an individual story, and kept true to what cyberpunk 2077 is, The story was simple yet intricate, building characters decisively and full, leading to an ending which just worked, And yes, I cried so hard. I would love to see more seasons of this, I feel there's places this could build on, I want to see what happens next with the characters already ! The fact this series has led to my first review I feel says a lot, if I had any criticism it would purely be the intro lacked creativity and desire, I feel it would of been more personalised to edge runners, and also the calling, I got use to it by the end, but I feel sometimes the timing or placement was too blunt, apart from these two things I truly loved this weird and felt it kept me focused at all times, with its action, story, romance and portrayal of the characters evolution.

I'm Built Different...
westmbtrumpets29 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
No you ain't!

Cyberpunk Edgerunners is a flawed, but still entertaining, anime.

We see an already aimless and struggling David lose his mother quickly and immediately turn to cyber implants to try and make his life better.

We meet a a cold and calculating Lucy shortly thereafter who, in a roundabout way, recruits David into their group of criminals. The following section where the group pulls off a few jobs together is probably my favorite part of the show. The action is intense and we get what seem to be David's intentions for the remainder of the show as well as an early glimpse as to how the cybernetics are impacting him.

Unfortunately, the good vibes stop in episode 4 when the story makes it clear that any character is capable of dying when a cyberpsycho takes out one of the members of the group. And this is where I have my strongest dissatisfaction with this show: cyberpsychosis.

Basically everybody that meets David tells him that he is going to go psycho one day and there is nothing he can about it. The ripperdoc that he goes to says it pretty much every single time they interact. An exec who only knows enough about David to know he's enhanced points out that the road he's on only leads to ruin.

This idea of psychosis feels like a stronger antagonist than anything else the creators put in the show. The big strong guy in the group goes crazy with psychosis and really starts to lead the show in a darker, more nihilistic path than it already was.

Side note: I am aware of the themes of nihilism in cyberpunk media. I understand that the big idea in these types of shows/movies is that life is pointless and you're going to die someday, so why not go out in the blazes of glory.

The group is now smaller, but David continues with the group as the leader and now that Lucy has caught feelings for David she quits, basically doing a complete 180 on the character that she was established to be in the early part of the series. Obviously characters can evolve and have different motivations, but hers went from tryign to save enough to getto the moon to completely escape the horrible life that she had growing up to trying to "protect" David by doing next to nothing to stop him from continuing down the path to a violent death. This includes not stopping him from getting numerous implants that, once again, the ripperdoc makes a statement basically saying there is no way that David should be still alive.

The story moves on and the small group gets a big job from Faraday, portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito (I thought he did an okay job; didn't think his voice really translated as well to the medium as I thought it would). At this point, David has been told that he's pretty much on the doorstep of death and there's no saving him. To make matters worse for the group, one of their members sold them out and the point of the job is actually to get David into a suit that Arasaka (one of the intended big bads) built that literally no one is expected to be able to use due to the heavy strain on their body (what's even the point of that).

David goes on a rampage trying to kill Faraday for double crossing him and threatening Lucy, going more and more crazy as the rampage goes on. Once again, the action is great intense.

And then, something stupid happens, Arasaka brings in a character that was explained to be dead: Atom Smasher. This character is modded to the tee and if anyone was capable of wielding the suit David is in, it would be him. So why bother with David in the first place?

David gets the piss kicked out of him by Atom Smasher and gets one nice moment with Lucy before he is killed. Lucy goes to the moon alone in what the creators appear to have intended for a bittersweet ending that's 10 times more bitter than it is sweet.

Problems I have with the show (that I didn't already touch on): Why does David bother continuing to work with the group once he and Lucy are well enough off? They are shown to be in a massive apartment after David takes over the group.

The show has the bitter"sweet" ending for Lucy, but that's really the only character/entity who has any sort of a happy ending.

Pilar is murdered by a psycho. Maine goes crazy and kills Dorio which leads him to kill himself in an explosion. Julio, small time character, runs into a trip wire and explodes. David dies to his psychosis mixed with being massively overpowered by Atom Smasher.

Falco has his arm blown off and gets to live with the reward money they got for the last job. And all of his friends/colleagues are dead. Becca just gets crushed for some reason. Kiwi gets shot after Faraday turns on her. Faraday get obliterated. Atom Smasher doesn't get to use the cyberskeleton and remains under the thumb of Arasaka. Arasaka loses several employees, vehicles, and the cybersuit. Militech likewise loses several employees and vehicles.

In a show about characters that hate the big corporations, why is there not a stronger critique of them? Is it because the inspiration for the show comes from a game published by a large video game company that notoriously treats its employees poorly? Also, in the same vein, wouldn't these characters get wise to the idea that they have to be helping one of the big corporations no matter what fixer they get and no matter what job they take? Kiwi and Lucy prove to be great hackers, shouldn't they have been able to find information about which fixers are for which corporations since Arasaka apparently just has a list of every single fixer in Night City?

Some of the nudity in the early part of the series feels like its on brand for what is shown in the game and what you can expect from this setting (namely that sexual content is a massive part of the world through brain dances and how socially acceptable, more or less, they've become where people are watching them on the street). The nudity later in the series just feels kind of forced. Anytime Lucy and David are shown in their apartment they are shown completely nude to imply that they've had sex. And yet there is really no physical intimacy between these characters beyond a few kisses shared.

Some of the animation gets a tad sloppy at times, but that's not necessarily a huge deal for me.

Becca's death doesn't feel earned and Falco being alive at the end of the show doesn't seem super justified.

Things I really liked: The music

The animation most of the time

The action/gore.

The dark tone, before it goes off the deep end into depression porn.

Overall, I don't think the show is necessarily bad, but it's definitely not a great one either. I may be jaded because I was late into this show after seeing so much hype about it, that I just feel didn't quite materialize.

From hero to zero

Warning: Spoilers
I went into this show completely blind. I haven't played the game (yet) and I read nothing about the contents of the anime itself. I just knew that it's based on the Cyberpunk universe and I wanted to give it a chance.

Edgerunners starts out pretty solid with a somewhat likable main character who gets into a lot of trouble partially because he's an idiot and partially due to unfortunate circumstances. He loses his mother and drops out of school to then join a bunch of criminals and do the typical "underworld" activities.

Here is the first big problem though. Outside of making a quick buck there is no real reason to join that group. David (the main character) is lacking goals of his own. This is also mentioned a few times during the show ("You're living someone else's dream"). That doesn't make it better though. It just points out an obvious flaw.

He gets together with Lucy, on member of his little gangster group but it's not really clear why they want to be together. There isn't really any chemistry between the characters. Her just saying that she doesn't want him to die without really showing any other emotional connection between these two doesn't make it a good relationship. There should've been more there.

Also we're seeing quite a bit of nudity and gore in the show throughout the 10 episodes. We even see some very short sex scene clips with random characters. This would've opened up the opportunity to actually show some passionate love between Lucy and David. But outside of indicating that they had sex there is nothing there. Instead most of the nude shots are literally just pointless to show some "tits and ass".

There are various other characters in the show which indicate that something interesting is there. Unfortunately the characters are wasted most of the time. Some of them are just killed for shock value. Especially Rebecca who should've had a more prominent role in the show was just squashed to apparently show how big and threatening Adam Smasher is. And it wasn't even a real fight. We saw her shooting guns and knew that she was loyal to David for some reason (her having a crush on David was hinted at) and seemed to be pretty capable. But the show never showed her full capabilities and then she just died.

Also I'm not really sure what the moral of the story was supposed to be. It just looks like an endless cycle of: 1. Person installs body upgrades to get stronger 2. Gets a warning that to much "chrome" will cause Psychosis as the body can't handle it 3. Character claims they can handle it even if the signs are there they can't 4. Character goes Psycho and gets killed as a result

Even the main character David who apparently had some resistance to it went down the same road and didn't stop or reverse course when he saw the first signs but instead went even further with the upgrades and ended up exactly as expected. There was no real twist there other than "i guess he isn't as different as he believed himself to be".

In the end the only thing accomplished is that Lucy was able to go to the moon. And what did it cost her? Everything!

Regarding the animation and art style I'd say it's pretty solid for the most part. There are sloppy sections though which can make some things difficult to see.

Crazy good drawings and animation, nice story.

Thev story line is good, no plot holes or anything that I could be picky about, but not something crazy new or things we haven't seen before. I could predict most of the stuff that was going to happen, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it.

Pacing of the story line felt good, nothing rushed and had no problems following.

The animation and esthetics are amazing! Definitely top notch production. There were some amazing still shots that really brought out the vibe of the scene.

I'm usually not a fan on the use of CGI, but I felt there was a good balance with using that and hand animation, so it didn't fell out of place.

Would recommend to anyone who loves anime!
