Deeply moving debut about intergenerational trauma
taylurngo7 February 2021
I found this film in the Amazon Prime catalog and watched it alone late one evening. Director Mai Hua has made a stunning debut with The Rivers by telling a story that quietly unfolds between the generations of women while seamlessly giving the audience a vivid and intimate glimpse into their lives. I have since re-watched the film with different circles of friends, and each time, we are moved to uncover our mother's stories and further down the line. A must watch-this is what the power of storytelling can achieve.
