Is ep. title actually about future of this serial ? :-)
pkpera6 August 2022
Well, this is a fun episode, and I enjoyed it. Just no need to take all it too seriously. Whole marriage with cyborg or whatever Isaac and his transformation is way too bizarre for today people.

There was side story about ... hard to tell in few words, but whole issue of getting in possession of some very advanced technology without being advanced (bad word, but really can not think better at moment) socially, in relations between countries, cultures . Yep, this years very actual topic.

And I say that it was done very well. And some things said in all it cause some very negative 'reviews' here . But that's nothing new.

I will miss this show - was really something best by me in last years. As always, hope dies last. Good luck Seth and company.

Gets cheesier and cheesier
schuwomann20 August 2022
This last episode felt a little indulgent and not short on cheese. Had some really laugh out loud moments, though. Don't get me wrong, I still NEED a season four to happen, STAT. I would just love for this to be a perfect show, but it never will be with the amount of cheese present; you know, those "meaningful learning" moments when you hear an annoyingly earnest oboe playing in the background, usually when someone (usually wise ol' Kelly) is giving someone a pep talk. I am not sure if those moments are accidental or modelled after the old Star Trek days (pre-2000s) when all those shows were filled with cheesy moments. But you still love the shows, coz their awesome. Just not deserving of 10s. Cheese will never get you 10 in my book.

A lovely sendoff that some might find disappointing
rocnathan4 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is more like an epilogue than continuation and culmination of the "main" story. We've seen that concluded for now. People have commented on the overuse of Moclan and Kylon stories, but in this case it's ok, because they're really more comic relief than anything else. And generally, this is the most light-hearted and comedy-centric episode since the first season. There is a Trek-ish storyline that's handled without too much drama or enormous stakes - which is good after the previous episode. Despite that, the message conveyed is quite valid and highly pertinent.

This episode is pretty much The Orville's Citadel DLC or one of the various Futurama finales. Everybody gets their little character moment, and we're ending on a very slightly bittersweet high note. I expected something completely different, but I'm very happy this is what we got. Let's hope there will be a fourth season, but if not, this is a sendoff Star Trek could be proud of.

A wonderful Season Finale - We want a 4th Season!
vabeachmatthew4 August 2022
The Orville wrapped up the Season in an emotional yet funny episode, much like the show in general. Seth MacFarlane created a wonderful future, one many of us would love to be a part of - and we want MORE!

A great episode to wrap everything up
limpfan1064 August 2022
This episode served as a great way to send off the characters and wrap up the show. If this is the last episode we ever get, it was a perfect way to do it. Most ST shows end right after the climax, so it was nice to have an episode that lightened the load and gave the characters a happy ending.

That said, this is the best show out these days. It would be a crime if this show doesn't get renewed. Season 3 was absolutely outstanding.

BEAUTIFUL Season Finale!!! PLEASE Bring Back Orville, This is Easily My Favorite Show!!!!
xnkhpyf5 August 2022
This show is the perfect combination between sci-fi and comedy. I've never seen anything like it. ITS CLEARLY MY FAVORITE SHOW ON TV!!! This episode was AWESOME!!! There are so many more stories to tell and amazing existing storylines that could be further explored. I LOVE the concepts as they always challenge you to think deeper and into the future. The cast is AMAZING!!! Bortus, Kelly, Ed, Isaac, etc. Are very funny and dynamic characters. PLEASE BRING BACK ORVILLE FOR ANOTHER SEASON!!!

Future unknown for a great show
Nightmarelogic8 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Although I will be incredibly disappointed if this is the last we get of The Orville the final episode "Future Unknown" was a charming and heartwarming end and if we don't get anymore I will accept it as such. It hit alot more then it missed. I even like that it called back to a season 1 episode that paralled where we are now with the twitterverse. The nitpickers out there are probably going to have a ball. They usually do but this episode was a good way to end the season if not the series for me.

I thought the Bortus and Kylden's ceremony was fun and a good way to start the A plot of Isaac asking Claire to marry him. The Kaylons bringing the entire planet to the ceremony was hilarious. I guess the groom's wedding party needs to be cut a bit. But I like the concept that just a year before the Kaylons and the Union were killing each other and now they were at a wedding.

Once they mentioned John never wanting to go back to the planet I remembered what planet Lisella was from. It was the one he was nearly lobotomized. I liked the debate between Kelly and Lisella. Should an advanced society maybe help another that is on the verge of falling apart? What would happen if some advanced peaceful society came to us today in their spaceships and offered us more power then we had ever known? Would we be able to handle it or would different leaders; political, economic, religious use it to control and destroy us? It is an interesting debate that even with the best of intentions there is a reason you can't just hand over technology or weapons to someone else less advanced.

I would watch a season 4 without question but if this is the end. I am ok with where it ended.

Oh and "The only life considered poor is the one wasted on apathy" Is probably something we all need to learn.

I LOVE THE ORVILLE
freshorange6 August 2022
My absolute favorite show and i love that after the action focused episode 9 in season 3 there is again a quieter episode following. I really care about the characters and stories and that's always a very good sign that a show is good and worth watching. The Orville is brilliantly written, actors are superb and in good (directors) hands, special effects, make up, costumes, set design, music - all is top notch. But the best of all is The Orville shows a lot of wonderful humor but is never superficial!

Marriage and Star Trek explanation for dummies
coruscant-751904 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
They found a perfect delicate balance between the serious and the fun topics.

They explain economy system of Star Trek in a nutshell (which Orville is not "officially" based upon) Also the reasons behind the Prime directive.

Once I have kids, they must see Orville first, I think it provides a perfect explanation for the next generation how to interpret Star Trek.

Also, the fun part was genious!

We could see a moclan wedding ceremony, we could hear forever remembered catchphrases here: "You've been useful sober man! You may go now!", and other fun and close to our heart scenes at the big wedding.

I just hope, this episode is not the last one.

But in case it is, this show can be proud what very few other can tell about themselves: had a perfect closing episode.

But, let's just hope it was just a perfect episode and not a closure!

What Could They Do?
Hitchcoc5 August 2022
Since there was no knowledge of another season, they could not create any tension. There is no unanswered question. I hate TV shows where characters get married. They are always dull, and this one is no exception. Even the girl who escaped from her planet could have been made interesting, but instead she never posed a threat. The beginning with two Moclans naked, chasing each other through the woods is going to give me nightmares. Question: Is Seth negotiating for another season?

End of a Phenomenal Season! End of an Era?
esschmidty4 August 2022
This episode was nothing but a sweet touch to what I consider to be one of the best seasons of sci-if for any show. It even rivals some of the best seasons of Star Trek. If this truly is the end of the line for the Orville, at least it'll go out on a high note just as the Expanse did. Just like the Expanse there is so much more story to tell but will we get it? Who knows. But hey, at least we got some sort an ending if this is really it, which is more than a lot of shows get. Thank you Seth Macfarlane for all you did and if we have to wait another 2 and a half years for a season 4 then so be it. I can wait. Keeping my fingers crossed.

A disappointing conclusion
sumtim3s00n4 August 2022
One hour and a half of mostly revisiting utterly dull and generic relationship drama with the robot and moklans( which was a bit cringe worthy). Not to mention dragged on and on...

Also the girl issue, another uninspired drama solved with a stroke of a hand. Throw in some moralization about tech and ethics so it at least a tiny little bit resembles Star Trek spirit and satisfy fans but pay it the least attention of all "storylines".

It should be and it always was with ST, relationships and such were always secondary to the main story. Unless it was a character driven story but those were written superbly and with wit, rarely predicable. Far above Orville writing for most of this season.

In my opinion this was worst and most unnecessarily drawn out episode of this whole season. And that is saying something because the whole season was subpar with revisiting the same stories again and again.

I would not mind if I never see another plot involving moklans,Topa or Kaylons.

Where is the ST ethos, exploration, new horizons, new original beings. Not Melrose Place in space.

An attempt of an open end
benjilee-209794 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It wasn't a bad episode but it felt as though the series going forward is in doubt.

A pretty good opened ended episode, closed a few loose threads.

Hopefully it will come back because it's exactly the sci-fi series the world is missing.

Be impartial, this was boring
rmmil4 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Once again it'll get dozens of glowing reviews and once again it'll be completely unearned.

Not every episode of The Orville or any sci-fi show has to be constant explosions and action, but could we get some semblance of tension, a reason for watching?

If you've ever seen the ST:TNG episode "Data's Day" this episode had a very similar feel, almost a non-episode of lower stakes than usual.

The problem with having an episode like that in The Orville is that while ST had 20-28 episode seasons, The Orville had 10 for season 3, and 6 of those 10 already dealt with the Moclans and the doctor's love life. Did we need yet another episode covering those topics?

I felt like I was just watching 80+ minutes of wasted television that could have achieved a lot more. I think the writers just ran out of creative energy, or....

I read the novella "Sympathy for the Devil", the 11th episode from this season that was supposed to be filmed, and after watching this one IMO the novella was probably supposed to be this 10th episode, but Hulu deemed it un-filmable so we got this hastily thrown together one instead. Too bad.

Please don't stop!!!
gelf-462588 August 2022
Clearly intended as an end of series episode. The previous two episodes told us about two seasons worth of story from that perspective - this is it. Those episodes were like the movies after TNG ended. Good, not great. Many explosions etc.

But this.. thank you Seth.. (not Sith).. powerful, amazing, TNG-true, best of the best.

Real...

After your many directorial roles on both Marvel (yeah, I don't care about those either) and Lucasfilm series for Disney+, we hope to once again greet you back as supervising director on THE ORVILLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another true Star Trek episode 😁

Well done again Seth on a great episode, I really hope you get a 4th season. There was a great mix of humour, and trekkiness. More trekky than the current star trek!

Perfect season finale
papery-sifters-l4 August 2022
It had everything a finale needed, this season was perfect and finished on a high note without any cliffhangers that usually don't make much sense. I cannot wait to see what season 4 brings and how they are going to recreate the magic again.

But If Not...
Mattschiering6 August 2022
Sweet if soft ending to the season (series?). It was a long wait for this 10-episode streamed sequel to the uneven first two seasons on Fox, and well worth the wait overall. Hopefully they pick it up for a fourth, but if not, they at least gave us a strong season and an enjoyable, melancholy sendoff. And for the last time, somebody please get Scott Grimes a starring vehicle! What a talented guy. Cheers!

Great season finale
gmc6225-800-9083335 August 2022
Great episode, fantastic light relief after the somewhat heavy previous episode.

The mating Ceremony is one of the funniest, smartest Sci fi scenes in a long time.

A lovely end to a great season
robertjoynes-135494 August 2022
After the action packed previous episode it was a nice change of pace having a more character focused episode for the finale.

This is definitely one of the funniest episodes of this season, perhaps of the whole show, with plenty of callbacks, witty one liners and the classic 'McFarlan-isms' that made me fall in love with this show in the first place.

It was also fun to learn a bit more in depth about Union culture and why they have such stringent laws about cultural contamination. I know some people are a bit burnt out on stories surrounding the Moclans/Kaylon but this episode approaches it from a different angle and does not feel like it's treading the same ground again.

The return of a few familiar faces gives this episode a show finale feel, and whilst I am truly desperate for another season, I think I could just about live with this being my last adventure with the Orville crew.

Funny again, but ended up being a fizzer
djdtfxz5 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
My rating of six is the highest of any episode in season three, which has been consistently terrible. I see the "ignore the haters" from those who rate each episode a 10, and say to them that the honest low ratings and bad reviews are from those of us who love the show, see its flaws and are sticking with it in the hope that the creators will get it back on track and save the show from cancellation.

This episode was actually funny and entertaining in a way the fans of seasons 1, and even season 2, expected from season 3. It's almost an apology for the nine season 3 episodes that preceded it. Isaac was, again, the star of the show and we saw glimpses of the old humour from just about all the cast, with the notable exception of Gordon, who has become my least favourite character since the (welcome) demise of Charly Burke. Mind you, it would have been pleasing to have seen her seated on the Kaylon side at the wedding ceremony.

However, this episode was awkwardly placed in the running order. With no battle scene, it would appear the CGI budget was blown in the previous episode. This wasn't, for all intents and purposes, a finale of any description. It just rolled along, providing the occasional laugh, then fizzled out at the end, like a lit firework that emits a puff of smoke then goes out.

I've heard that no decision has been made with regard to season 4, but the set hasn't been dismantled at this point. My guess is that the analysts at Disney will be crunching the numbers to see whether they have achieved any return on their investment. This season has been more miss than hit, but it's the all about the $$$, not 10/10 ratings.

nothing very surprising here...
webboy-819164 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The title said "Future Unknown" so I thought maybe the Kaylons found a way to hack themselves out of the forced submission they were subjected to.. I thought that this would be a really big surprising cliffhanger but there is nothing like that here! I thought to myself "nothing very surprising here!" when the credits started scrolling up. I bet most people would think the same way. Maybe they should have changed the title to "nothing shocking or surprising!!! Future very well known!!!"

Sooo boring!
I thought I was watching a sci-fy show, not a soap opera (and a bad one). Honestly, this episode was a waste of time and money for the producers, it didn't add anything to the show, just a filler episode and it makes it best to convince me to stop watching it asap.

Filler yes but better than your average filler
stuartpbottomley4 August 2022
Whilst it seemed more like a mid season filler episode after last episodes action pact rollercoaster ride, it still was a good all round story closing out a couple of story threads but leaving a couple open for a future possible season or maybe a full movie. We can only hope we haven't seen the last of the Orvell and her crew.
