Belgrade? Where's that some place in the Catskills?
***SPOILERS*** Mike Kovac, Charles Bronson, is contacted by his good friend Father Ehrlich, Michael Fox, to check out a photo that a member of his congregation Jan Metrovic, George Conrad, received from this mail order bride agency, Brides Unlimited inc., that he's involved with. The lonely and love-sick Jan is looking for a bride from the old country, Yougoslavia, to hitch up with and the owner of Brides Unlimited Folwler, Thomas Brone Henry, has been giving him the runaround after taking over $1,000.00 from him in not coming up with the merchendise: Jan's dream girl.
Kovac after checking out a photo of Jan's future bride finds out that it in fact was taken here in the US not Yogoslavia and the woman in the photo Jane Cowan, Claudia Barrett, is anything but Slavic! Planning to get the goods on Fowler and his partner and henchman Dave Magil,Nick Pawl, Kovac goes to the agency disguised as Polish immigrant Stanley Adamski with a hidden camera in his tie-clip to get a good shot, or photo, of the two to hand over to the police bunko squad for evidence.
It's just as Kovac was about to get the cops to raid the place that Jane, Jan's future bride, stormed into Fowler's office demanding to get her photos, that he's using, back or else she'll call the police! After Jane is worked over by Fowler and Magil for talking too much in pops Jan wanting to see his bride before he hands over the $1,000.00 that Fowler demanded of him. This entire action on Jane & Jan's part puts Kovac and the police plan to raid the place in jeopardy with Kovac's cover, as Stanley Adamski, blown by Jan unknowingly exposing him!
***SPOILERS**** Kovac knowing that he's now on his own with him not having time to alert the police goes into action taking on both Fowler and Migil before they end up not only taking off with Jan's money but killing both him and Jane as they make their aborted getaway! By the time the police came the show was all over with the two con-artist knocked out cold by the fist swinging and foot kicking Kovac who had no trouble at all putting the two away. The sad ending of the film is that Jan desperately looking for love and a woman to share it with ended up in the cold in finding that his bride to be Jane Cowan wasn't exactly, in not being a Yugoslave native, his type of woman!
