- Aaron Pierce: [while walking through the halls of the White House] thank you again for coming
- Ethan Kanin: You can "thank" me by telling me what this is all about
- Aaron Pierce: Alright, sir but we don't have much time
- Ethan Kanin: You "implied" it has something to do with Olivia Taylor?
- Aaron Pierce: Yes sir, a few hours ago Jonas Hodges was killed outside FBI headquarters
- Ethan Kanin: My God
- Aaron Pierce: Authorities believe he was murdered to keep him implicating others who were involved in the bio weapon attacks but I "suspect" there may be another "scenario" and I have reason to believe Ms. Taylor "might" be involved
- Ethan Kanin: [Grabs him by the arm to pull him to the side to talk privately] that is an outrageous accusation: Olivia's..."capable" of many things but I can't believe committing murder is one of them
- Aaron Pierce: Please just hear me out. After the President agreed to a witness protection deal for Mr. Hodges, Ms. Taylor made a comment to me about wanting to see Hodges dead
- Ethan Kanin: He was responsible for her brother's death: she was venting
- Aaron Pierce: I thought so too until she met in her office with an old colleague, a man named Martin Collier
- Ethan Kanin: I know Collier
- Aaron Pierce: And you know the sort of man he is?
- Ethan Kanin: I do but none of this constitutes "proof of complicity"
- Aaron Pierce: No sir, that's why I need you to access the digital recording to see if their actual conversation was recorded
- Ethan Kanin: You're asking me to break into in an office that is no longer mine and access classified recordings of the Acting Chief of Staff
- Aaron Pierce: [Sternly] "If" my suspicions prove correct, "you" of all people understand how grave these consequences will be. Sir, Ms. Taylor's "behavior" over the last several hours has been erratic at best. Now she's with the investors from the Justice Department right now, we don't have much time. Sir, I need you to decide if you're going to help me
- Jack Bauer: In case you've forgotten I'm very good at disappearing, and if you try sending someone after us I'll kill them
- [short pause]
- Jack Bauer: Pretty good at that too.
- President Allison Taylor: [Beginning a briefing] good morning everyone, please take your seats. I realize we're all in dire need of sleep but it is vital to bring you all "up to speed" on the events of the past few hours and a greater crisis we face "on the horizon." Less than thirty minutes ago, the FBI managed to recover the last canister of the bio weapon but I'm afraid the danger is far from over. Before his death, Jonas Hodges told us that there were other "parties" involved with him in the creation of this bio weapon, a highly secret and very powerful group of private military firms: collaborating to undermine the government of this country
- Admiral John Smith: Excuse me madam President, but which military firms are we talking about?
- President Allison Taylor: We don't know Admiral, Hodges gave us no names or idea of which companies are involved but whoever they are, they represent a very real ongoing threat. Now we don't have much "actionable" intelligence at this point. However, the FBI has apprehended former CTU operative Tony Almeida, he is a "key" figure in this plot: someone we "hope" will be able to help uncover who these people are
- Cara Bowden: [Referring to Jack] so what're you doing? We don't need the hostage, especially not him: shoot him already and let's get out of here
- Tony Almeida: You're not seeing the "bigger picture", your people are going to be able to launch the attacks just like they originally planned
- Cara Bowden: How? We lost the canister: we don't have the pathogen anymore
- Tony Almeida: We have Jack, the pathogen is in his blood, and it's in his organs. We'll be able to harvest everything we need from his body. Why did you think I had you put those operatives with Kim Bauer? Your people are still going to need proof that Jack's viable. Have one of your biochemists meet us at the complex
- Renee Walker: [Over the phone] listen carefully, try not to react and do not look around. You're in danger: your being watched by operatives sent by Tony Almeida
- Kim Bauer: Tony? I don't understand
- Renee Walker: His involved with the people responsible for the attacks, we had him in custody but he used you as "leverage" to force your father to break him out
- Kim Bauer: I don't believe Tony would do something like that
- Renee Walker: His on the run: his taken your father hostage, you've got to trust me on this. I'm on my way with a team to you now but we have to ID the people who were watching you: they're our only lead in finding your father in time
- Kim Bauer: There was a man that was staring at me earlier but I haven't seen him in a while
- Renee Walker: Describe him
- Kim Bauer: He was Hispanic, medium build, short brown hair, and wearing a suit
- Renee Walker: That was Agent Franks: your had me deploy him to the airport to make sure you got on the plane safely, he was killed by the people following you. Listen, whoever these operatives are, they are in close proximity to you. Your father told me they sent him a live feed of you to prove they had you in their sights: have you noticed anyone with a camera or cell phone?
- Kim Bauer: Or a laptop
- Renee Walker: What?
- Kim Bauer: There's a couple that I've been talking to they've been sitting right next to me: the man has a open laptop right in front of me
- Renee Walker: Can you give me a description?
- Cara Bowden: I'll contact the "group" as soon as we know if Bauer's viable
- Tony Almeida: Yeah, look, I need to talk to you first
- Cara Bowden: What is it?
- Tony Almeida: I want a larger role in the "organization" and I think this is a good time to make my case
- Cara Bowden: We've gone over this before ok? It's not how it works: you don't "ask" to get in, you're "invited"
- Tony Almeida: Alright, so get me an "invitation", after what I've done today, I think I've earned it
- Cara Bowden: [after thinking it over] you have been "resourceful", it's true but still...
- Tony Almeida: [Interrupts her] look, I know you talk to the "top guy", all I'm asking is you get us in the same room together. I'll "sell" myself
- Cara Bowden: I don't think that would be the "right approach"
- Tony Almeida: Why not?
- Cara Bowden: Because his careful "to a fall" and his very protective of his anonymity
- Tony Almeida: I can appreciate that but the bottom line is: without me this operation never happens. Now you have "influence" over him, he trusts you, you can convince him, and I've seen you do it before
- Cara Bowden: This is different
- Tony Almeida: That's right: it is different, this time it's for me
- Olivia Taylor: I've always liked that about you: even when I was a little girl, you always stood up when I came in the room
- Ethan Kanin: Old habits die hard
- Olivia Taylor: You removed "something" from my office, I want it back
- Ethan Kanin: [Gestures to his briefcase] I told you before, you're welcome to them
- Olivia Taylor: You know damn well I'm not talking about those files
- Ethan Kanin: Do I?
- Olivia Taylor: I found the digital recorder: now give me what you took or I'll the order the security officer outside this door to strip search you
- Ethan Kanin: Alright, I do have a recording, it's a personal account to my last days in service to this Administration and I "think", I'm "entitled" to it
- Olivia Taylor: No one is "entitled" to take "sensitive" materials out of the White House
- Ethan Kanin: [Sarcastically] now its National Security your worried about?
- Olivia Taylor: As a matter of fact, yes
- Ethan Kanin: Well, I still have my clearances, why don't listen to that recording together?
- Olivia Taylor: You're in no position to "dictate" terms: you're in violation of at least ten federal laws
- Ethan Kanin: What are you afraid of? What's on there that's so "incriminating"?
- Olivia Taylor: I'm not the one facing "incrimination", you are: give me the recording right now and I'll see to it no charges are filed
- Olivia Taylor: [Over the phone, referring to Ethan] he knows, I'm telling you
- Martin Collier: No, he doesn't: worst case scenario is he has a suspicion, and he never had time to actually listen to the recording, did he?
- Olivia Taylor: No
- Martin Collier: Ok and he never will because you destroyed the data card right?
- Olivia Taylor: Of course
- Martin Collier: Then we're fine. As long as you keep thinking clearly and don't panic
- Olivia Taylor: Your forgetting I ended this man's career, he won't let me off the hook: ever
- Martin Collier: You're the President's daughter ok? Trust me, no one will come after you without hard evidence. Least of all, Ethan Kanin
- Cara Bowden: [Over the phone] Bauer is viable but you'll need to secure a facility
- Alan Wilson: That won't be a problem: as long as you're absolutely certain that we can accomplish this
- Cara Bowden: We've done the hard part and from what I understand with the proper equipment, the actual extraction and the bio engineering is really straightforward
- Alan Wilson: Ok, I'll contact the others, good work
- Cara Bowden: They should know they have Almeida to thank for this: he's the one who realized Bauer was a possible source
- Alan Wilson: I'll relay my gratitude
- Cara Bowden: I think you should consider going farther than that
- Alan Wilson: Farther? What'd you have in mind?
- Cara Bowden: Tony believes in what we're doing: he wants to play a larger role
- Alan Wilson: That sounds "premature" to me
- Cara Bowden: The thing is if we don't make a "significant gesture", we may lose him
- Alan Wilson: I don't even know this man
- Cara Bowden: Then you should get to know him
- Alan Wilson: Are you suggesting I "meet" with him?
- Cara Bowden: Look, all I'm saying is he would be a very "useful" voice in the mix: his field experience fills a knowledge gap in regards to our logistics and planning
- Alan Wilson: Coming from you that's a hell of a recommendation
- Cara Bowden: There's no one better and it's not like you vetted every other member the group
- Alan Wilson: Maybe it is time that he and I met. I could be where you are in the next half hour
- Cara Bowden: You're coming here?
- Alan Wilson: I think it'd be a good idea I supervised Bauer's transfer myself: make the others feel at ease don't you think? But I'll look Almeida in the eye and if for any reason I don't like what I see, you understand? I can't let him walk out of that meeting alive
- Cara Bowden: [Before hanging up] I understand
