For Old Dominion, their third single - "Song For Another Time" - might just be their most charming, and certainly their most unique, yet. "This song means so much to me and I'm so proud of how it came out," frontman Matt Ramsey tells People of the band's follow-up to their big hits "Break Up with Him" and "Snapback." What makes it so special? The lyrics are actually made up of 20 other song titles - and the song almost didn't make the album. It was written on their tour bus one evening last summer on the Kenny Chesney tour, just...

No other than Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal! The actors are in early talks to join Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp in Rob Marshall's adaptation of the musical "Into the Woods" according to HuffPost. The two will be playing a pair of self-involved princes in the film. I'm guessing one will be playing Rapunzel's prince and the other, Cinderella's prince. There will be singing involved! Not quite sure about Gyllenhaal but we've seen Pine belt it out in the 2010 drama "Small Town Saturday Night" where the actor played a country singer. He even sang in the film's theme song "Someday Came Today."
But before "Into the Woods," Pine will be seen as Captain Kirk in the new flick "Star Trek Into Darkness."

Chris Pine is back in theaters this weekend with "Star Trek Into Darkness," but don't expect him to jump back into the captain's chair for the likely third "Trek" adventure any time soon. According to THR, Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal are in early negotiations to join Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp in Rob Marshall's adaptation of the musical "Into the Woods." Pine and Gyllenhaal would play a pair of obnoxious and self-involved princes in the film, and for those wondering: yes, they will have to sing.
"Into the Woods" isn't the only big project Pine has on his radar. On Tuesday, TheWrap noted that Pine will make a cameo appearance in "Stretch," an indie comedy from director Joe Carnahan. Pine and Carnahan made "Smokin' Aces" together in 2006, back before Pine became a global star thanks to J.J. Abrams' 2009 "Star Trek" film.

This year, the battle for the “Best Actor” category is fierce. However, one of our favorites is John Hawkes. Is brilliant performance in “The Sessions” may garner him the coveted Oscar. Soon we will find out. John Hawkes has been working non-stop since his critically acclaimed performance as Teardrop in “Winter’s Bone,” the role which earned him an Independent Spirit Award win and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Hawkes can be seen in Ben Lewin’s “The Sessions,” the story of a man confined to an iron lung who is determined – at age 38 – to lose his virginity. He also recently completed production on “Lincoln,” “Arcadia” and “The Playroom.” Hawkes’ additional film credits include “Higher Ground,” “Contagion,” “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” “Me and You and Everyone We Know,” “American Gangster,” “Miami Vice,” “Identity,” “The Perfect Storm,” “Small Town Saturday Night,” “Hardball,” “Wristcutters: A Love Story,” “The Amateurs,...

Ryan Craig has only directed one feature in his career thus far — 2010′s Chris Pine-starring Small Town Saturday Night — and that may not change right away, as he’s been hired for a writing job at Warner Bros. As THR has learned, the director is set to script an adaptation of Takedown, a novel by Brad Thor that serves as the fifth installment of his Scott Harvath series.
Produced by Bill Gerber and Casey Wasserman, the project is something that the studio would like to be the start of a new franchise, in the (shocker) “Bourne Identity mold.” Shaky cameras, agents running around, people getting beaten with household objects? Sounds about right. There are ten books in the series, so they have plenty of room to make future installments.

Ryan Craig ("Small Town Saturday Night") has been hired to pen an adaptation of the Brad Thor international action thriller novel "Takedown" at Warner Bros. Pictures says Heat Vision.
"Takedown" is the fifth novel in a series following Scot Harvath, a former Navy Seal Team 6 member turned black-ops counterterrorism agent. In this story, Harvath must stop a terrorist mastermind who has unleashed chaos in New York City with his latest attack over Fourth of July weekend.
Bill Gerber and Casey Wasserman are producing. Thor has penned ten novels in the series thus far, Warners acquired the rights late last year and at the time were looking at the first novel in the series - "The Lions of Lucerne" - as a potential launching pad.

Direct-to-dvd films are usually embarrassing for the big name actors. Sometimes they’re old projects pulled off the shelf to capitalize on a celeb’s new stardom. Or worse, the film contains some less savory bit of drama — say a nude scene long ago wished into obsolescence.
Chris Pine’s secret shame is a rendition of “Someday to Come” for the film “Small Town Saturday Night.” But really, the tune isn’t that embarrassing. Pine’s a convincing singer (if this is his real voice).
Sure, we’re not much for the tractor twang of this country tune, but we can appreciate it for what it is. Hell, we might even download the song off iTunes.
When it randomly pops up in Shuffle Mode, we’ll remember the Captain Kirk as Man with a Guitar in That Movie We Can’t Recall the Name Of. And we’ll smile. And probably click the Next arrow.

It’s not surprising a film like Small Town Saturday Night never found theaters. Written and directed by Ryan Craig, this small little indie about the small lives of inhabitants of a, wait for it, “small town” doesn’t offer anything controversial in content, revolutionary in technology or relevant by way of movie stars. Yes, Chris Pine stars as Rhett Ryan, a guitar-strumming dreamer on his way to Nashville and bigger and better things, but this thing was made and cut before people knew what a “Chris Pine” was.
This is the kind of movie that recalls past movies, but does it with an earnest that can only come from true experiences from real people. From now until the end of time, characters in movies will continue to say things like “everything will be alright” and “just be yourself,” and, in turn, so will characters in real life.
And why?...

Alice in Wonderland: "But, Burton's Alice in Wonderland is very much akin to visiting the Mayflower that's now docked in Boston. For $15 a piece, you and your family can walk around a boat that looks every bit like the ship that carried 130 some-odd Pilgrims from England to Massachusetts back in the 17th century. But no matter how faithful it is to the original, and despite the fact that no detail is spared, it's hard to get over the feeling that you're walking around in a replica. It doesn't evoke any of that wonder; you get no sense of the hardship or the disease that those English Separatist felts on their 66-day journey. It's a giant elaborate money-making toy: Cool to look at, but it's got no soul." - Dustin Rowles

If you're thinking that it didn't take long for either Alice in Wonderland or The Wolfman to hit DVD, you're absolutely right. In the case of Alice in Wonderland, Disney shaved 3 weeks off of the usual release window while it's currently still making money at the box office... no wonder theatre owners were upset about this. There aren't many other noteworthy releases out this week, with the exception of a whole wack of Clint Eastwood movies on Blu-ray, plus Bad Boys, Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds, and Troma's Class of Nuke 'Em High. Now that Chris Pine has hit it big in what promises to be one of the bigger franchise reboots of the next decade, it’s interesting to see where he’ll spend his screen time when he’s not sitting off-kilter on the captain’s chair. It’s an interesting question for every star who finds their biggest success at the start of a huge franchise, and often the non-related films they make receive a fair bit of scrutiny as audiences attempt to determine whether or not the actor has a future when that franchise ends. For Chris Pine this still applies, and so his first independent drama choice since playing Kirk has an interesting level of weight behind it, and to his credit Small Town Saturday Night works in his favor, showing off a more contemplative counterbalance to his egotistical jokester from Star Trek.

Since Tambay first mentioned the project Here back in March, things seem to have been moving apace for The Help, a Dreamworks production based on the bestelling novel of the same name by Kathryn Stockett about the tenuously simbiotic relationship between black maids and their white employers in the 1960s American south. Rights were acquired by Dreamworks in June of last year, while shooting is set to begin in Mississippi in July with release set for some time in 2011.

Before Star Trek made him one of the hottest young stars currently in demand, Chris Pine was working steadily on a bunch of smaller projects. Now that our new Captain Kirk has piloted the Enterprise and its crew into the critical and popular stratosphere, any project with the name “Chris Pine” attached is going to get a lot of buzz – even if it’s just an independent flick that not a lot of people have heard of.

The series chronicles the table-time interactions of your typical Mondo Bizarro family, with Koval playing Mom, Dad, Teen Son, and lithping, pig-tailed Little Daughter. Chris Pine, along with Shawn Christian, Bre Blair, John Hawkes, Robert Pine, Lin Shaye, Muse Watson and Brent Briscoe, are starring in Small Town Saturday Night. The indie film is from writer-director Ryan Craig.
Small Town centers on a country musician who discovers that the desire to follow his dream conflicts with his desire to be with the woman he loves while at the same time following the lives of townsfolk whose lives the two impact.
The fim is financed by Perfect Weekend and produced by Charlie Mason, Justin Moore-Lewy, Wonder Fortune Serra and Craig.
Craig broke into the business as an on-set assistant to Paula Wagner during the production of Without Limits and went on helm videos for country Western artists and worked with Phil Vassar.
