Blackthorn Trailer. Mateo Gil‘s Blackthorn (2011) movie trailer stars Sam Shepard, Eduardo Noriega, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Stephen Rea, and Magaly Solier. Blackthorn‘s plot synopsis: “In Bolivia, Butch Cassidy (now calling himself James Blackthorne) pines for one last sight of home, an adventure that aligns him with a young robber and makes the duo a target for gangs and lawmen alike.”
I haven’t seen a really good western since 3:10 to Yuma, True Grit, and Dead Wood so I will give this a watch when it comes out. Since I have not seen Cowboys & Aliens and its a hybrid, I am not counting that film. Besides, I hope this film is more like The Proposition, Unforgiven, and Once Upon a Time in the Western.
Blackthorn‘s cast also includes Padraic Delaney, Fernando Gamarra, Dominique McElligott, and Cristian Mercado.
Watch the Blackthorn movie trailer below and leave your thoughts on it in the comments section.

Dead Wood director David Bryant has just launched the website for his latest vampire feature Flesh & Blood, and we've got the official plot crunch and more for you to chew on.
According to Bryant, Flesh & Blood is "a low budget dark brooding feature set in the English coastal town of Hastings (1066 and all that). It will be shot on location in the old town, which is a visually unique place with hundreds of years old architecture and very cool spooky alleyways. Hence, why I now live there."
Dig on the goods below!
Synopsis:
Am I my brother's keeper?
A guilt-ridden loner discovers life and love, only to find it threatened by the only friend he's ever known. Daniel Cain lives a solitary life in a small coastal town. He works as a janitor in the local hospital by day and spends his nights nursing a dark secret. Confined to a...

Another low budget horror film set in the woods. Great. Great? Well, actually, it is great. Really great. The reason it is great is because it is low budget and therefore it shows the Hollywood hacks how to do it. Dead Wood concerns four friends on a camping trip in the woods, they meet a mysterious stranger, and then things start to go really wrong. A clichéd set-up for sure, but Dead Wood packs in enough punches in its short running time that any similarity to other examples can be ignored. With competent acting, stunning cinematography of beautiful locations and some stand-out scares, Dead Wood is an example of an English horror that ends up being far more effective than much of the big budget bollocks coming from Hollywood. Firstly, I have to say that I loved the film, it was a real edge-of-your-seat chiller and for a low-budget affair,...

I had my doubts about this one going in. I've always been leery of movies that require more than one director and more than two writers. But this one was looking to prove me wrong from the start. When four friends, including one couple and another duo whom the couple hopes will Become a couple, go out to the woods for a weekend of camping and fun in the woods, they discover that they're not the only ones out there. But what else is out there isn't human...and it's not happy to have visitors. I'll say this up front for Dead Wood--there's nothing really Wrong with it. The plot is nicely set up and moves at a fairly...

Dead Wood is a rather risky title to put on movie belonging to a subgenre (kids go to the woods…kids get dead, to borrow the title of a recent satire/homage to the form) that has seen plenty of dead wood of its own. This particular example, crafted by three British film-school pals, doesn’t blaze any trails of originality, but the movie—and especially the special features on Lionsgate’s DVD—suggests that as fledgling feature-makers, they’re on the right path.
Following the expected opening teaser in which a hapless victim (David Bryant, who scripted Dead Wood and directed, produced, photographed and edited it with Sebastian Smith and Richard Stiles) meets his maker, we’re introduced to our vanful of protagonists. Webb (Fergus March) and Larri (Emily Juniper) are an established couple, while their weekend camping trip is something of a blind date for her cousin Milk...

Say what you will, but the biggest DVD release of the week is Nicolas Cage's latest masterpiece Knowing (and I'm only partially being sarcastic, since I actually liked the movie), along with David Goyer's The Unborn and the sci-fi/action/thriller Push starring Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning. Aside from that, there's Reclaiming The Blade (a documentary about swords), Nursery University (a documentary about "Ivy League" nursery school admissions), a new Mystery Science Theater 3000 collection, and a box set of the first six animated Charlie Brown TV specials. Also: Peter Benchley's The Deep and Grumpy Old Men on Blu-ray. Are you planning on buying or renting anything this week? Knowing [1] (DVD, Blu-ray [2]) The Unborn [3] (DVD, Blu-ray [4]) Push [5] (DVD, Blu-ray [6]) Five Fingers [7] Night Train [8] (DVD, Blu-ray [9]) Coco Chanel [10] Dead Wood [11] One Missed Call 3: Final [12] Nursery University [13] Reclaiming The Blade [14] The Peacekeepers [15] Kath & Kim: Season 1 [16] Matlock: The Third...

Knowing
Forget Nostradamus. In this Nick Cage flick, a young girl in the '50s draws a picture of numbers for a time capsule. Fifty years later, when the contents are examined, it turns out that those numbers indicate the dates, death tolls, and coordinates of major disasters, and a few haven't happened yet! But it's not exactly the doomsday flick fans would hope for. In his review, Jeffrey M. Anderson says: "rather than becoming a comfortable hybrid between a small, smart movie and a big, dumb movie, Knowing became a horrible mutation, bulging out in all the wrong places, with unsightly scars where the butcher's knife had been." Skip it. Also on Blu-ray.

Not every Dakota Fanning movie is a shocker of a drama. In this psychic espionage thriller, she plays a "watcher" and one of the psychic rogues determined to end a creepy government agency.
