Beyond Powerful
RobTortureWright5 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The feeling of worthlessness from Marianne. The feeling of confusion & depression from Connell. The feeling of all of that completely disappearing when they're with each other.

The true love that they show for each other in the episode is so powerful to watch. The intimacy in the sex scene and the discussion they had before where they finally start saying what they really want to say to each other makes it all begin to feel like they're realising, that despite all those times it went wrong, that they simply have to be together. They understand each other like no one else, they can be themselves with each other, theyre never lonely when theyre together, they can say how they really feel.

That last scene where her brother pushes the door into her and seeing the fear she has, and the thing we've never seen Connell ever really do before, he defended her. Honestly I was cheering him on wanting him to punish her brother because he has done nothing but torture Marianne and for no real reason other than bitter jealousy.

Im amazed at how sad and emotional these last 3 episodes have been delving into deep topics like rape, suicide, depression, but how despite those really heavy things looming I love the show even more. Easily one of the best episodes I've ever seen and I cannot wait to watch the final episode right now.

One of the greatest TV-episodes of all time

Watched this and at first I just thought it was intense, but an hour later I just started bawling my eyes out. It is both a super wholesome and completely gut-wrenching episode. I've watched plenty of movies and series and yet no other media has come close to this amount of emotion in 30 minutes.

Love this show but it's so frustrating

I don't know if this is an accurate portrayal of the way that people in this age group communicate, but the long silences, grunts and mutterings are so frustrating to watch. I appreciate that these two are going through all kinds of mental anguish and realise that some people are too embarrassed to express their true emotions, but it makes for challenging TV. Having said that, the acting performances are astonishingly good.

High Steam and ice creams

After an excellent episode 10, this was slower again. Not much happened but the underlyng themes spoke a great deal, showing how intervening times had affected relationships. Hoping for a quality final episode

honesty as basic virtue
Kirpianuscus25 February 2023
Each episode of series reminds the honesty as basic virtue of this series. A direct, precise, naked , almost cruel honesty. About traumas, about friendship and its borders, about loneliness and about answers to the others.

The second great good point remains the performances.

And the dialogues.

And the shadow of experiences, in same measure for Marianne and Connell.

And the way to cure them.

This episode has the gift to represent an entire film. Independent. Saying what silence, in so many cases, preserves as itself.

A simple story of friendship with powerful nuances. This makes Normal People just a remarkable work.
